LOL... You are not an imbecile... just uninformed.

rev210, He specified them as Garrett 320hp turbos, Ray Hall special or AVO special etc. I don't understand advancing the intake 10 degrees and the exhaust 8 degrees either. All that would do is to move the power band considerably I would've thought. I am thinking they jumped the cam timing a few teeth during the install and corrected it with the adjustable pulleys.

Second prize in that show is 3 different Holdens. Zafira would do well on semi-comps...
-
I noticed that SK, hence my comment : Maybe he took his intercooler out for weight saving.
-
So, you can do 1:20s. I wouldn't call him a loser either, just down on his luck judging by the recent turn of events.
-
Did your dyno operator get the AFR probe and temperature probe mixed up...? 388 rwkw on 18 psi is really impressive as well, we have a lot to learn from WA.
-
Yeah... I've seen that car too, looks mighty tough. Apparently, the owner wants to put an RB26 in it. :jester:
-
Did you mean turn 6...? Not much of a drift action was happenning, you were mostly spinning them on a straight line. A lot of smoke though, the girls thought someone blew up. You were too slow anyway, so i took you over. Snowman, You are soft and sexy and smell tough with a whiff of petrol scent. :bahaha: Bingo Andrew, there is the next mod you have to perform before the next track day. If you are eager enough, you can manufacture some sort of a guide around the core as well. Here is what my HKS one look like : It's in two pieces and bolted together.
-
Adz, You have done very well mate, congrats. I was following you for a while and you were driving pretty smooth. Ferni, To answer your question from the other thread, my oil temp was 100 degrees. Do not worry too much about the guides around the cooler core, but get some vents happenning in your guard lining to circulate the air. Chris were having highish oil temps as well and he drilled some holes on the lining as a temporary fix. I forgot to ask him how much of a difference it made, but he will let us know when he signs in. My corner speeds were comparatively lower than everyone else, which fully explains the slower lap times. It was probably the mixture of driver and rubber and there is a lot improve on both counts. Snwoman, That is one hot pic, but Geoff is definitely sucking it in.

I had written a longer post but the forum swallowed it, so here is a summary. Alot of facts were established on the weekend. A minor one being that Andrew's car is a piece of shite. It leaks fuel and power steering fluid. It's low on clutch fluid and have a cracked left hand headlight mount. Do i need to go on Jokes aside, here is the main point : If you want to get some track action, these are the guys to do it with. Don't get hung up on power figures and list of modifications, as it doesn't mean a thing for a beginner. If anything, first up, you are better of in a stock car with the mandatory mods like oil cooler and decent rubber. Best example of this is me vs Andrew, Chris, Geoff and Adam. Heck, I should've just said me vs everyone else.

Thanks for the offer Roy. I have the tyres, just need a second set of rims. Corners are still entertaining without the semi-comps, just not as quick.
-
Likewise Geoff, cheers mate. My best time on the day was 2.00. Some smart alec decided to put 12 corners after that lovely, long straight.

anyway of getting around customs tax+gst ?
Emre replied to meshybum's topic in General Automotive Discussion
4door_Sleeper, According to your breakdown, the Tax component (duty + GST) is only $122.75 The rest is made up of all sorts of charges, which I wouldn't know whether they are legitimate or fair. It certainly looks like you are being taken for a ride though. -
The sandwich plate is a real bitch to fit. It has a rubber O ring that has to stay in place while fitting. If it moves and comes out of its grove while fitting, you will have oil leaks.

twoquik, If you are going to publicise a way around it, you should also let people know the risks and penalties associated with it. What you are suggesting is fraud, worst of all against the government. Faking a legal documentation would bear heavy penalties and a conviction at the least. How do you explain the difference in between faking a legal document and faking a $50 bill...? -
R32 GT-R catback exhaust - loud and legal!!!
Emre replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I would have suggested to check your catalytic converter to see if it has collapsed or not, but you changed dumps and front pipes recently and would've noticed it. I can't imagine an after market exhaust being that quiet. Do you have a picture or a link to your current exhaust...? HKS Super Dragger has a deep growl, not very loud. Nismo one sounds similar. The HKS Hyper is very similar to Apexi N1, it really barks and considerably louder than the Super Dragger. As Merli said, Trust Power Evo sounds like a Cannon, you cant stand it without the silencer. It sounds awesome from a distance though. I was under the impression that they weren't being made any more. Trust Power Extreme sounds a lot tamer in comparison, don't know much about them. IMO, quiet is your friend, especially in the metropolitan areas. Unless your exhaust is robbing you power or past its use by date, i'd keep it. -
R32 GT-R catback exhaust - loud and legal!!!
Emre replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
An R33 GTR with the stock exhaust will not pass a legitimate EPA Noise Test, i doubt the R32 would be any different. What you perceive as a legal exhaust may be over the limit. BUT, unless the exhaust you have is rusted out and have leaks, why bother...? You seem to be happy with it, so keep it as long as it lasts. If the $$$ are burning a hole in your pocket, send them to me and i will mind them for you. -
Good on you Mark, well done to you too mate. Do you have more numbers to come from your setup...? Is there more to be gained from adjusting the mixtures or adding a bit more timing...? GTR STI, I've read your post more than once just to make sure I haven't misunderstood it. I must say I don't agree with much of what you've said so far, which is fair; we don't have to agree on everything. If you can't see the favourable difference to 2530s from the dyno charts on this thread, I don't know how else I could put it. Remember both turbos are pushed fairly hard and I haven't noticed 2530 running out their efficiency upto 2 bar. I could get my car tuned to have the power delivery similar to GTRS's but that would be going backwards IMO.
-
We have been talking rwkw so far in this thread Andrew. I am more so looking forward to a low down comparison with the GTSS's.
-
Hi Mark, My car have the ususal turbo back, Trust front pipes and HKS Hiper to be precise. The other car used to have a similar setup but changed the setup later on. Can you put the GTRS power curve over one of your 2530 ones Mark...? EnricoPalazzo, What is your angle...? I don't get what you are trying to insinuate. I'll just move on and disregard it. GTR STI, The dyno runs were in 4th gear. Regarding your observation of linear power dropping off , how do you figure...? %250 increase in power in 30kph section means a very rapid power delivery, so far we realise this is what GTRS's produce. 2530s deliver power more progressively and it's obvious their midrange are far superior. This is how i read both graphs. kph @ RPM is a guesstimate @ 95 kph which is 4000 rpm : 100 kw vs ~67 kw @110 kph which is 4500 rpm : 132 kw vs less than 95 kw @125 kph which is 5000 rpm : 183 kw vs ~115 kw @140 kph which is 5500 rpm : 260 kw vs ~180 kw @155 kph which is 6000 rpm : 360 kw vs ~345 kw @170 kph which is 6500 rpm : 390 kw vs ~380 kw @185 kph which is 7000 rpm : 405 kw vs ~400 kw @200 kph which is 7500 rpm : 400 kw vs ~395 kw @215 kph which is 8000 rpm : 392 kw vs ??? I must say, I am a little surprised with the top end power figure as well, considering one is a built engine with cams and the other is dead stock. Down low, it's similar to OZGTR's figure. Hurry up Merli !!!
-
2530s on a built engine running 2 bar. Let's see what mph Mark pulls as comparison before calling bullshit. The first chart did 126 mph with a suspect clutch, the second 130 mph. Both cars were in full street trim and it was a 35 degree day.
-
2530s on a stock engine, running 25 psi with 50:50 C16 and pump fuel mix. GTRS's certainly lack the midrange of 2530s.

1750 if fits gtr -
Andrew, Yep, mine is more noticable when a passanger is on board as well. Tailshaft related problem makes the most sense as everything before the gearbox is RPM related. Mine has been doing this noise for the last few months and it hasn't gotten noticably worse. Mind you, it doesn't see a lot of kms these days. I will have a closer look next time the car is on a hoist as well, I think Amaru is onto something here.
