Porsche GT2 6pot callipers FS
Emre replied to Racingline's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
$1500 would get you a second hand set of GTR Brembos mate. These are significantly bigger, brand new and come with a brand new set of Pagids which would be at least $500 on their own. Ring up Porsche for a RRP on GT2 brakes. -
Andrew, The exact thing you are describing had also started in my car after my last gearbox change, quite a few months ago now. It can't be RPM related as it only happens in 5th gear. The tailshaft speed is directly related to road speed rather than the RPM but my tailshaft has never been removed. Did you get anything else done around the same time...? It was really bothering me at the start, but now i am used to it. Let me know if you find out.

There should be no questions regarding the quality of the Meridian kit. I would say they are at the least, the same quality as the Japanese kits. The only problem is, there are no ready kits with the braided lines as no one went through the process before. If some one wants to copy the HKS style with the core inside passenger side fender, the size of the hoses on my kit are 190 and 235 cms. Both come with 90 degree bends on one end. You will have to make up the brackets for the core installation. This is no drama if you are using the rubber hoses as they can be cut to size.

Good review on the LM1 Mark. I was thinking of getting this a few months ago, but wasn't sure on the capability with the Datalogit. Are you using its own datalogging feature, or have you hooked it up to Datalogit...?
-
Well... I can't get my head around that one. 60 foot times are directly related to the level of traction you have. How does nitrous reduce your 60 foot times into 1.59 on 18 inch semi-comps...? And this bloke is complaining about the lack of traction !
-
Is this right...? Did you manage a 1.59 sixty footer on 18 inch semi comps...?

Oil Extreme (oil additive similar to Roil)
Emre replied to JimX's topic in General Automotive Discussion
jetpilot1986, You need to settle down and stop pushing your product through, in the aggressive manner you have been. I don't give a hoot about what the 5 people from this board have to say about it, as well as the race teams that seem to advertise your product. Let's all build our engines once a month. How hard is it for roil, or for any other oil additive manufacturer, to have two identical test vehicles; one with the additive and one without. Having regular oil analyses done on both vehicles, by an independent third party, would provide all the sceptics with some factual data. If you think that might not be conclusive enough, surely there is another way to prove the worthiness of these additives, apart from collecting testimonials from whoever is willing to give. Or some sort of mock up test machine that doesn't resemble the working environment of a combustion engine. If you think that, a company (amway at that) with the budget and resources of 1% of the large oil companies, can come up with the revolutionary product with some secret ingredient, good for you...! If you also believe that, selling products similar to yours only through infommercials and part-time distributors, adds to their inclusiveness; again good for you...! Just don't expect every other person to follow suit. [sarcasm]If it is the product you say it is and proven, than it will take over the market in the next 6 months and you will reap all the benefits of being one of the exclusive distributors.[/sarcasm] OMOMATIC > Amway washing powder. -
Can someone merge the two threads for the future users please. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=47117 jezzrrr, As Snowman mentioned, Nigel has done a fair bit of research when looking for an oil for his Supra. I'm sure, you will be fine with his recommendation.

Oil Extreme (oil additive similar to Roil)

I wasn't trying to be patronising Jim; if you think that i was, than "you are welcomed" Let us know how much quicker your turbo spools up . :jester: -
Oil Extreme (oil additive similar to Roil)
Emre replied to JimX's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There are different types of syntethic oils Jim, Group 3 oils are mineral based and have gone through a lot of purification processes. True syntethic oils are either PAOs, diesters or polyolesters. These oils are not purified, rather they are pure to start with as they are man made in a lab. No mineral based oil will come close to these oils, in quality or ability. If you still have the need to add an additive to these oils, than go ahead. -
Oil Extreme (oil additive similar to Roil)

The problem is that you will not find much in the way of factual data concerning any of these additives. Lots and lots of testimonials is all you will find on the subject. IMO, a good esther based oil is all you need. You may find this link interesting. -
I think they are a non interference engine as well, at least in stock form. In 1998 they came out with VVT-I, which is classified as an interference engine.
-
Non interference : If the belt snaps, pistons and valves will NOT collide. AFAIK, RB26 is a non interference engine in stock form. Can't imagine RB20 and 25 being different.
-
Hmmm.... I am trying tp picture it in my head. You shouldn't have any dramas with interference on the passanger side, whole kit resides inside the guard. The driver's side is more of a drama, especially if you have an oil catch tank from Ben.
-
Jack, So the HKS didn't clear the back of the headlights...? Bummer man, but it will teach you not to lash out more $$$ for your headlights than a pair of turbos.
-
LOL... Give up dude. What is the recent news on your build...?

400rwkw from 2530s is a big ask on pump fuel. I had a figure of 400rwkw+ on decent fuel, but obviously it's not my daily tune. As mentioned, there need to be a lot of support modifications in place to run that sort of power daily, reliably. For the record, i still have the stock intercooler, factory intake, internals, etc.
-
You don't need the drive collar Jack, It's for the 32s.
-
Hint #4 : The question is a little misleading. Do you think you can get a power curve like that from a T51 SPL...?
-
Adam, You should've said hi... I had parked the car for an hour or two just to watch some action, but went back to it later in the day to eliminate a couple of possibilities. Anyways, it turned out to be a blown inlet manifold gasket. Jack, thanks for lending me your AFM mate.
-
Heh he... I know. Very impressive power curve to say the least, especially considering the peak power figure.
-
SK, How does cam selection effect the behaviour of the car...?
-
Andrew, All the possibilities went through my head on the day, but it's not internal. The car has a very erratic idle and running on 5 cylinders in in low rpm, but i have no loss of power. I am leaning towards an AFM or a dud injector in no:3 cylinder but haven't found out for sure yet. The day was organised very well. They had 75 cars entering the track day and there were plenty of laps to be had.

Duration is the amount of the time the valves are open for. Lift is how far the valves open. Consider it as the washer in your tap; as you turn the tap on further, the washer lifts higher to let more water through. With the higher lift cams, the valves travel further into the the combustion chamber, thus the modification to the head is required for clearences. As with longer duration cams, higher lift cams have their advantage in the higher rpm and hurt low rpm response. However, how much this rule effect the forced induction engines always puzzled me. Ben is running a huge turbo with crazy cams and has amazing response, does 400cc make that much difference...? Back to you SK.
