Pearl white FTW. Nissan QT1 - It has a nice silverish pearl to it. Go crazy with clear coat - it will be niiiiice! White generally "brings out" the features in the car. Might cost you a kidney to paint though

Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner (or Equivalent)
iseekool replied to iseekool's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks mate - I don't look in the FI section much. -
Cruised next to a wingless pearl white R34 sedan, down hill on Bell st, Heidelberg around 7.30am. It has dish rims and needs a wash.

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has used this product on their RB engine or any other engine. From the subaru website ---> http://www.subaru.com.au/main/faqs/?faq=13...E8AD787E27D3A52 Is it worth it? Will it actually cause damage? ie. big chunks of crap from the intake manifold going into the combustion chamber etc..? I've been reading lots about it on the interwebs - some people have used it in their Evo and SR20s - so far no ill effects - from what I've read. Discuss

Wow - Nice ride I think the "stuff" on the bonnet looks like a sticker.
-
That's news - quite interesting. I thought you are not allowed to eat/drink/use mobile phone/GPS while driving. So technically I can eat my breakfast while stuck in the daily traffic jam.

R33 Rb25de Oil Pump Same As Rb25det?

That's right anything under 1k there is no duty. -
I guess it's time to get suspicious about parts being sold on auction/sales sites.

White R34 GTt or GTR (I just got a quick glimpse) with black wheels, it was parked infront of Brighton Toyota.
-
Damn - Was that nearly 13sec 0-100?
-
That is when you need to take the engine out.

An aristo is a nice car. The 2JZ-GTE has lots of low down torque. Luxury everything. Soft sprung so its comfortable. Cheap one could be had for 9k/10k, I've even seen some go for just under 8k - but you may want to stay away from these. Looks like a half bred Toyota Avalon and a VR/VS commodore I'm not too sure about parts and servicing though, they are getting old very fast - possibly parts are available from the lexus GS300???

They pop-up every now and then. Patience is the key I remember seeing one not too long ago it was $36,000. There were some on j-spec that were reasonably priced. The advantage with buying a GTR (if you are thinking AWD) straight out as opposed to a GT4 (non turbo, AWD, only in Auto). - GTR has the RB26DETT already. - 6 speed maual trans - Wider body - Stronger axels - Brembo brakes Basically what I'm trying to say is - in order to build an AWD monster it will cost you much more to build up a GT4 as opposed to a GTR. The cost of labour during the conversions/custom parts will cost heaps. Even if you decide to sell the GT4 parts you will not get much money in return. There also seems to be more support and bolt on parts for a GTR too.

Spotted a stock looking bayside blue R34 GTR in the gridlock on hoddle st. yesterday afternoon around 4.30PM. Looked nice. But seemed to be blowing a blue smoke (burning oil?) on light acceleration.
-
Yep. R34 GTv.
-
Another option is to buy a straight but very high Ks R34 GT-R - then you have a good foundation to begin with, less headaches.
-
Well I suppose it depends if you want an AWD or just RWD. If you are just after RWD there is nothing wrong with buying a GT/GTt. Here is a good thread to read http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ld-t280439.html

I think the reason for the slow down in the sales of secondhand cars is probably due to people having so much choice. - Most people that have enough money usually go buy brand new/1 year old cars. - Majority of the driving population are already driving reasonably modern cars (mid '90s onwards) with the essentials such as A/C, power steering and cruise control - which means it is quite hard to justify buying another car. - Many families hand out the family car to their kids. Mum and Dad go and buy new cars. - I think second hand cars that are 5 to 10 years old within the 10k to 25k bracket are hard to sell. The typical non car person will find it hard to justify sending this much on a used car - they would rather buy a brand new/next to new compact car.

I had a quick google about that engine... what makes it special?

All You Young P Plater Skyline Owners..

I'm speaking from a Victorian perspective here - but doesn't personal injury get covered by TAC (or what ever your state equivelent is), therefore the very high registration rates? -

^ Some wise words right there. Nothing wrong with a JDM car - so long as you can genuinely afford it - having "just enough" money for these cars is not a good idea. I got my R34 when I was into my 3rd year of full time work (I got my Ps on the last year of uni) - Didn't need an R34 - but I thought it would be a nice treat for working hard - I'm rather content with driving around in my 1983 Bluebird. -
You should buy a set of splitfire coilpacks or yellow jackets. Then get a mech to install it. If you are technically minded you can give it a go - it's not that hard - but just a pain in the butt - there are a few tutorials on this site and some from around the world. The other coilpacks will die out soon. It's a known issue with R34 GT/GTt once they are roughly 100,000km to 120,000km (don't trust your odometer - they are usually wound back to the circa of 60,000km to 70,000km). While you are at it you can clean your throttle body - spray some carby cleaner on a clean rag and wipe the sludge away. I would also hazard a guess it would be time to change your spark plugs too - They cost $14 each from Nissan (3 years ago).
