  1. What do you expext after all the recent crashes involving young drivers? Count yourself lucky that you didn't get more.
  2. No problem, Adrian. Let me know if you need a hand with costs or whatever. I think it would be a good idea to at least have "SAU" on there, if not "ANDRA" also.
  3. JustinFox had a set in 17" for sale. Not sure if he sold them though.
  4. The way I see it is like this: if you were in charge of a track like WSID, would you want to open twice a week for street meets and not make any money from it? My point is this: there needs to be a consistent demand/desire/need for off-street meets before they can even consider opening on Saturday nights. I was at WSID last Wed and it was full (max of 160 cars was reached) and it was the biggest meet with regard to both racers and spectator numbers I had been to in recent months. This may have had something to do with recent illegal events, but either way, there needs to be the demand there for WSID to open. Most other meets that I have been to recently have not even come close to having full contignet of allowable cars. It is not up to the Govt or police to provide any facilities - they already exist at WSID! But they are not being used. Things like drag days organised by car clubs and forums need to be done more often to encourage people to take racing off the streets. Perhaps this can be added to the positive activities that we as a club can undertake to offset the negative ones of illegal street racing. I have mentioned before that we can start off with simple things, like SAU's own "Street racing is not drag racing" stickers. Then this can be followed up with a "Street racing is not drag racing" cruise. Then we could possibly have a "Street racing is not drag racing" day at WSID. At the same time, we could promote such positive activities via the media and magazines.
  5. You're upgrading the comp wheel to a 25G, not changing the whole turbo, right?
  6. Kenny, I have already put that suggstion forward (but with SAU on the sticker), and Adrian is going to take care of that. Maybe we could retain the ANDRA logo and just add the SAU logo, but make the stickers larger - from memory, the ANDRA ones aren't that big.I am willing to pitch in some dollars if needed to go towards making them up.
  7. I spoke to some people in the know last night and was told that for a car that runs 10.00-10.99 a half cage is fine. Any quicker and a 6 point cage is required. I was also told that (techncally) it didn't have to be welded in, but that ANDRA won't pass it if it isn't.
  8. Not going to Compak Attak next month, BU5TER?
  9. First pass that I saw What did it run on the first pass?
  10. TRP had a white R32 GTS there that ran a 10.6@133MPH on its first pass before being kicked out. It had a Toyota 7MGTE engine in it with a shot of NOS
  11. It's okay. I will still take the 3. Will use it in one of my other cars.
  12. Which 10 second GTR is this off? Definitely cheaper new, also.
  13. Jerry, I have a problem with my GTR and this battery. It won't fit as it is too wide (length is fine) for the fabricated alloy battery box. Can you get these batteries in smaller sizes?
  14. Can you send pics to me please: charlies (at) mpx.com.au I will take the filters pending pics. If no pics, what shape are they?: Round Straight, Round Tapered, Oval Straight, or Oval Tapered? Thanks.
  15. I had a fuel pump issue today and we couldn't start the car. Will have to wait until next week to start it. I've waited this long, another week won't kill me.
  16. Fair enough. And I was told by one eye witness tonight that it actually wasn't a freak accident and that the car was travelling at quite a high speed. I won't say anymore than that. Either way, the driver is probably going to have the book thrown at him. Excellent. It's time we showed the public that most Skyline drivers don't fit the picture that is painted of us by the media. Furthermore, by making the anti-street racing statement via the stickers, we can send out a positive message to the community as a whole and those who street race, that it isn't the right thing to do. Positive action and attitude change. Another idea would be to have a "Street racing is not drag racing" Skyline cruise to further emphasis this to other drivers and the public. Such a public display (similar to what occurred at teh EVLR34 cruise) would greatly assist in spreading the anti-street racing notion to all and help offset the negative image that recent incidents have given of car enthusiasts as a whole.
  17. Were they premium style plates? What did the driver look like?
  18. Were you there, Lepperfish? I think 2rismo's sig should be made into an official SAU sticker to show the mainstream attitude of forum members.
  19. double shcweet I would have had them on the car by now
  20. We need to have a cruise once everyone gets their cars on the road. *fingers crossed for tomorrow's engine start*
  21. Congrats. The TE37's will look horn your car, Lucien. Has it hit the streets yet?
  22. Um, how did you know it is "mines_datsun" and not "minesdatsun" (as in the thread heading)?
  23. And that's not the first time, either :D Seriously though, these confiscation laws aren't working, and it is obvuous that these activities are undertaken for the thrill of it, for the ego-inflation, and for the street-cred that they think it gives them amongst others. It's all in the attitude, and that is what needs to be changed, perhaps the govt can add to their token campaign against street racing and actually promote the off-street drags. What happened to that WRX that was supposed to be doing this? I haven't seen it at WSID in a while. Like someone suggested earlier, why not have weekend off-street meets (Friday nights?) aimed at those who like to race on the street? Maybe even have the govt subsidise these nights so that they are more ($$)appealing to the street racer. It is obvious what is going to happen though - the police will put on a blitz for the next few weeks and then all will be back to how it was. Street racing will continue.
  24. Exactly. It looks like the insurance company won't be accepting my claim, so I am going to be up for some serious costs to get the car running and back to it's pre-shipping condition. I was planning on changing a few things anyway, but that ws later down the track. I recall when I picked the car up from bond storage: the towie was already there and the car was open - they had the bonnet open with their heads in the engine bay. This was without anyone having shown the office the invoices and release paperwork from Kiwi! I asked the guys there if anyone had touched anything when I realised alot of stuff was missing and saw the damage. As I expected, I was given, "Nahh mate, no one has gone near it." Pfft.
  25. Spoke to the importer/mechanic taking care of my 32. Engine is finally ready to be started tomorrow - will be paying it a visit. Fingers crossed all goes well as it has been sitting around for a while. Will be using a PFC to run it for the check up, but more than likely get an Autronic plug in. One good thing I can say is that the turbo's are brand spankers and still have the yellow markings on the compressor wheels
