I disagree. There has been too much speculation already and facts need to be stipulated otherwise this speculation will be perpetuated. There is no need for secret squirrel business.

And yes, driving style makes a big difference to box survival...couple that with the fact that most of the boxes are over 20 years old.

Plenty of room for improvement, Jez. Quickest on stock box is mid 9's with over 550rwkw!

I have run 411rwkw on a stock R32 box. However, the triple plate HKS GD Pro isn't very stock box friendly. It isn't even dog box friendly. I recently asked what the quickest 1/4 mile time anyone knew of with the stock R32/33 box: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/395117-quickest-14-mile-et-r3233-gtr-using-stock-box/

What was the MPH, Jez?

It sits just below the front member...if I already didnt have one, I would have bought this already. -
Could be a number of things: Got out of the grove and one side gripped/slipped more than the other . Maybe some fluid got on the tyres. Maybe driver was trying to change the radio station during the run. Maybe he just can't drive

hence why rwkw's should be used as a guide...MPH should also be a consideration. But the answers have been given already -

Has it run with the dogbox? Should run flat 9's with that MPH. -

sorry, that should read "430-450rwkw" in my earlier post. Auto makes a massive difference. As does weight. -

How Much Power To Run 9Sec In Gtr?

This calculator is better than the one I have posted earlier: http://www.wallaceracing.com/etcalc.php Although the 60' and 1/4 MPH inputs might not apply accurately to AWD turbo cars (more NA and dedicted drag cars) sky30, I would suggest that you will require approx. 430-350rwkw with a 1.5 60' with 6.25-6.3 1/8 mile ET to equate to a 9.9 sec 1/4 mile ET -

R31, OP says he will use DR's on the rear only, so that should help gurad against front diff breakages. Although, it is not a guarrantee that it won't necessarily not happen. btw, i'm not sure what the quickest 1/4 mile time using a stock r32/33 box is, but it may well be in the 9's... -
How Much Power To Run 9Sec In Gtr?

using that page's calculator, a 6.8 1/8 mile ET converts to a 10.7 1/4 mile ET. In order to run a 9.9 sec 1/4 mile Et you will need to run around 6.25-6.34 1/8 mile ET. I would also suggest that you would need 450rwkw. 1.57 60' is very good for street rubber, however, some drag radials on the rear would improve this and therefore improve your 1/8th and 1/4 times. -

Seriously, those clowns bagging out the OP for his question and for trying to convert 1/8 mile times etc should wake up...If you look closely you will see that the OP is from SA where they only have 1/8 mile track to utilise and hence why the question is being asked...I'm sure that if the nearest 1/4 mile track wasn't over 1,000km away things would be different. Stop bagging people and post info that is actually relevant and provides postive answers. sky30, There are calculators for various conversions that can estimate times. ET. MPH, and horsepower given a set of parameters. This even includes an 1/8th mile to 1/4 mile converter. See here for one such page with these calculators: http://www.hotrodpitstop.com/tool.php Bare in mind that most of these types of calculators are US-based so they will have weight in pounds with horsepower at the crank. Other pages/calculators give the option to input hp at the wheels. -
I agree. It was a struggle to fill the minimum spots for the last SAU:NSW Drag Day. This wasn't be helped by the lack of accessibility and relative cost, coupled with the fact that there were limitations and additional costs if you went quicker than 12.00 (SS licence), and you would be booted if you went quicker than 11.00. Comparatively, people would prefer to go across the road to EC and race around all day instead of SD at similar costs. SD needs to look at its current set up (particularly toward entry level racing) if it hopes to allow the sport to grow, and in turn increasing its bottom line. For eg, if they allowed 100 cars at private days @ $100 each, it would be more attractive to street cars (particularly when Wednesday night street meets are always at capacity). The idea of allowing modern cars to go quicker without the need to have additional safety gear is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, their hands are tied by the government. So back to square one there... Looks like drag racing in NSW can only go round and round in circles...

I will at least give credit to SD, WB and PM for their intention to bring drag racing a step forward. Aaron, I take it that WB and PM have adopted these new regs for street meets? Any chance that SD can renegotiate that particular part of the lease? How long is the lease for?
