  1. I have used Daryl at Screaming Performance with great success. Very knowledgable tuner and mechanic, though his workshop is hideously untidy
  2. How freakin awesome was that Bugatti... 431km/hr ZOMG!
  3. I like where this is going! Maybe we can get some members and register it before we're back at the polls in the next few weeks
  4. I like this, maybe i'll start a new political party called "Progressive Society" with a slogan of "We will enforce Darwin's theory of evolution, not legislate more rediculous laws"
  5. Let some other punter take his luck on it... Lot of cash to blow if its a lemon, and you're unable to find out if it is...
  6. This is going to look like one shit hot car. Cant wait to see the final product. Kinda makes me wish i went with an r34 instead of buying the gtr - kinda
  7. Awesome. Let me know if you still would like a hand with it.
  8. You Sir Steve are a scholar and a gentleman. How is the paint prospects coming along?
  9. Indeed. I have bought one of the kits of ebay and will rebuild them myself and then have them professionally balanced. I know its not the best option compared to say a set of -9s, but it'll be a good experience and suit the amount of power I am looking for.
  10. Cheers Nismoid - just the advice I was looking for... Simply means one less thing I need to chase down...
  11. I did the fronts in my r32 gtr in a total of maybe 30mins... Back might take a little more time... Honestly the longest part would be getting it up on stands properly...
  12. Hi guys, I have been searching and searching and looking some more for a set of dumps for my gtr. I am doing the turbos in the next few weeks (most likely finishing up in the next 2 months) and cannot find any decent dumps... I am not chasing huge power - max 250rwkw as it is a street car and I want to keep high levels of reliability in it. I have been looking at Tomei, HKS and HPI dumps but all are going for circa $1k - well above what I want to spend on dumps at this stage. Question is - has anyone tried opening up the standard r32 dumps by porting? Is there such a huge difference between the r32 and r34 dumps (well enough that it couldnt be remedied with some hours with a die grinder? I have no qualms taking to them with a die grinder and have done basic port matching before. Thanks for your thoughts.
  13. LOL! I think I bought a kit from you off ebay! I can rebuild them without any hassles and get them balanced locally... I'll let you know how it goes... I truly like reading your build...
  14. For the power levels you're seeking I dont think you need a 3.5' bellmouth... Simply get a JJR 3" stainless dump/fornt pipe and bolt the f**ker in place! Worked a treat on my r33 gtst and I was at 235rwkw on 14psi with a lesser turbo than yours without any restriction.
  15. ZOMG!!! WHat a F%%King mess of a day... The sick part I loved every minute of it. So I pop down to my mates place this morning to say hey and fit the front struts I picked up yesterday... Check them out! We get the car up on the hoist... And find this... So what was meant to be 30 mins of getting the front struts ripped out and replaced turned into a CV boot change and lots of dirty shitty fingers in the process... After about half hour getting the drive shaft out of the hub and banging the cv off (came off quite easily which I was suprised about) we went and picked up a new boot and put it all back together.... Check out the Ohlins that were in the front.... Most importantly to note that the bottom of the cast alloy is cracked in half!!! No wonder it was banging around... I have some rooted front Ohlins if anyone is interested! BEst part of the day was the drive home... The Bilsteins are a little bit more stiff than the Ohlins were, but the best part is they dont knock, they do damper and I dont have graphite grease flying like the proverbial off a shovel in my front wheel well.... Ah cars, arent they great...
  16. Basically after some dump pipes for my BNR32... Looking at either a set off an BNR34 or other suitable set. I am not chasing monster power with the car at this stage so it is unlikely that i'll want to spend $1000 on a set of Tomei dumps... Thanks guys.
  17. Just bought a set of bilsteins for the front!!! So happy! I'll fit them tomorrow I hope!
  18. Damn the costs of having the engine out keep adding!!! I'll look into the sump baffle... Regarding the costs of the rebuilt turbos... The kit off Ebay cost me a huge $300 for the pair and I have been quoted $88 per charger to have a VSR balance done on them... I'll be doing the work myself so its not a big issue there... Other costs: well I think they're the same as if I bought new turbos... SUch as a full gaskit kit.
  19. I agree the Aryan race idea in a true Nazi sense is sickening. Perhaps we should just call it enforced Darwinism...
  20. Definately on the cards... Plan on doing a major service on teh engine whilst its out as well... Do the time belt and associated kit, getting some dumps and new silicon hoses as well as the turbos... I am thinking that I'll give rebuilding the turbos a go... I can put them all together and have them balanced at turbologic in port kembla...
  21. Cheers Ten Four! The 32 wheels are great on the road... A little bit nicer to ride on than 18s... I like the thin spoke look of the bnr34 wheels and xd9s... I am hitting a brick wall at the moment as far as the build because I cant figure out what I should do for my next step... I have a feeling it has to be the turbos though...
  22. Hi Guys, My turbo's have began to spit oil down the exhaust - the seals are rooted. I do want to go to a set of -9s in the future however there are a few things I need to do to the car before I go chasing more power... Has anyone had experience with the quality of the steel turbine rebuild kits being sold on ebay... Quite a few of them have been sold so surely someone must have given them a go...? Basically I am not concerned about rebuilding them from a mechanical point of view - they have already been dynaimcally balanced and it comes with all required parts. I am more concerned about the quality of the kits - thoughts? I know these wont provide any real performance gain - hopefully make what I have more reliable until I revisit my performance goals...
