are you sure about that? im pretty sure obd scantech has a hicas section, and its definitely free (it used to be $$$) S-HICAS is on this screenshot: http://techdiag.co.uk/obdscantech/web/pg000/5_00/startup.jpg

Looking To Buy: R34 Non-turbo
NewKleer replied to spilt_milk's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
99 r34 coupe manual $15k well its $1 over "under 15K" and has an ugly bonnet -
yes daughterboards and remaps are all generally fine (the purpose of a remap is to leave the code on the ecu as-is, with the exception of changing fuel, ignition etc mappings, so while its possible to bugger up the consult part of the ecu with a remap etc, its unlikely). either way, if it doesnt work for your car u can get a refund if its sent back in original condition.

ive put in an order for the black polycarbonate enclosures, which i should have around mid-end February, so i can send replacements for anyone having issues with heat/deforming, and also one step closer for making the next batch of displays.
-
id be surprised if it wasnt obdII compatible - have you had a look for the plug?
-
in the new year ill have a group buy for serial ($45) and usb ($60) cables. plenty of free software around
-
ok so i got a black polycarbonate enclosure to test out, its good for another 50C on top of the normal ones, and so i left it with the others in the sun in my car yesterday. internal air temp was ~55, and the enclosures themselves were 90C on the dash. the 2 normal plastic ones fully opened up. one 'hi temp' ABS deformed one one side, but didnt fully unbend, and the good news, the polycarbonate one was absolutely fine. the only downside of the polycarbonate one is that its a gloss finish (like phones etc that u get fingerprints on), and you notice scratches a bit more, but i dont think anyone would mind that. ive got about 25 enclosures then i can send out to people to use in the meantime, but ill aim to get a batch of polycarbonate ones (unless i can get them done locally), hopefully within next couple months (not sure what the lead times are). ill send email around to everyone today just asking anyone with a deformed enclosure to confirm their address and ill send another out (obviously keep it out of direct sunlight etc until the final enclosures arrive).
-
yes if consult software works then this should work no problems
-
the enclosures are custom made, nothing off the shelf is anywhere near a good fit

on the issue of some peoples enclosures deforming in heat (ive already emailed everyone about this): we've only had a mild (25C) sunny day at best (today is 35 but mostly cloudy) since i received 30 enclosures of a few different materials to try out, so it has been a bit hard to test, but in direct sunlight on the 25C day, of the 3 different enclosures, 1 'opened' up about 6mm on one side, and the other 2 opened only a mm or two - assuming they werent already opened slightly to begin with - so then neither of the enclosures are significantly better than the current one probably (and next hot and sunny day ill test them all out together and compare to current one - im not sure yet if they are any better than it) but whether theyre better or not, i can send them out as replacements for anyone who wants one, and hopefully if theyre kept out of direct sunlight and hopefully any other intense heat, theyll survive well enough until i get ones that are better suited. 10 are white, 20 are black, so those with blue lcd may want the white box (though i dont imagine ill get any other white ones) still working on alternative ones though (and wont be making another batch of displays until i have a suitable enclosure)

unfortunately cables have been delayed, at this stage id say id have some available start of January
-
im getting the cable part (ie cable + consult connector) cut/assembled elsewhere and i should have them in the week starting 8 december - then just a matter for me to attach the PCB to the other end etc.
-
you could try hooking it up to the EGT input on the ecu then logging via consult? i dont think its ever been tried before, and not sure if the ecu ever does anything in response to EGT temperature, but when looking at EGT via consult its always 4.98v (possibly gets lower as the egt gets too hot)
-
im pretty sure you can just log the lm2 without obd2? either way theres no way to get the r33 to work with obd2. maybe lm2 has inputs for RPM etc you can wire up?
-
mid december ill probably have group buy for rs232 (~$45) and usb (~$60) consult cables, the rs232 one should work with the blazt ipaq cable. i already have the pcb's for the usb lot, and rs232 ones should come in a couple weeks. the cable/connectors are being cut/assembled and i wont have them till december - but if you dont need a long cable (the normal ones will be ~150cm), then i can make you a 125cm cable in a couple weeks when i get the rs232 pcb back.

and thats the last display of this batch sold, have donated $145 for the 29 purchases in this GB hope to make another batch of displays at some point, but not before the issues with the enclosures are resolved. check the website every couple of months to see if there are firmware updates anyone who wants to be put on the waiting list for a display for next batch, either pm me here or send email to peter @ ecutalk.com (with link to your forum profile) and ill add you to the list and notify you when next batch is done in the meantime ive got a batch of USB consult cables on the way (and serial ones to follow in a few weeks), although the AUD drops made it hard to keep costs down, should have USB around $60 (usb memory stick 'with cord out the end' style) and serial $45 (circuit in connector style like last lot). will post another thread for them when available
-
and the usb would only be usb client, ie the iphone is a usb device to the PC, rather than a usb host, as in the iphone can use other usb devices like the usb consult cable. but thats irrelevant given theres no drivers for the iphone for that usb chip (ftdi)
-
what is your ECU model? 23710-xxxxx? can probably determine from that if the ECU should support consult or not.
-
all green displays sold. 4 blue lcd's left
-
n95 is symbian not windows. if it was windows it could use ecutalk. but then again it doesnt even have physical serial port, only mini-usb i think? so its fairly useless trying to do anything for it unfortunately
-
it already is the best price, im not making these for profit. im designing some usb consult cables at the moment which might be available in a month, around $50
-
well keep us updated, but unless this plug has some electronics inside it to convert the physical signalling and data protocol, its not going to convert consult to obdII on the usb consult cable topic, i've just got back 150 cables from having the consult connector assembled onto them (just the cable + consult connector assebled on end, the usb end/circuitry isnt done or anything, just plain wires). will do some maths and work out how much i could get some usb consult cables done for.
-
btw, have decided not to do another batch of displays in the short term (probably not till next year if i do), need time to work on the firmware rather than making the displays, so if ive told anyone therell be another batch at end of year there wont be any more - ive still got around 15 of this batch left will probably make a batch of usb consult interfaces as people still have to pay >$100 for one (or use usb/serial adaptor) which is a bit much for something everyone (who doesnt have a lcd display!) should have.
-
well the first hurdle is the physical stuff. i wouldnt toy with bluetooth if the iphone has an actual serial port (which is great if it does, as the tendancy these days is to just have mini-usb and thats all which blows) if the iphone is 3v serial input then the consult cable for it would be even simpler than a normal consult cable as you just make it use iphones 3.3v as power supply, and you lose the rs232 level converter and 5v vreg maybe drop the 10k down to 6.8k due to change in voltage from 5v to 3.3v (keep current the same). once you can verify the serial comms (e.g send 0xff 0xff 0xff and get back 0x10) then at least we know its do-able. no having an iphone myself means i cant help much in that regard
-
yeah shame that people in general dont know how much they should be paying for this stuff...that guy is just reselling this box: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Cons...emZ200254281450 i made a bunch of these a while ago, much better than having a huge box hanging out of the consult port and hitting your knees (if you can even drive with it in). been thinking about making a batch of USB consult cables, seeing people paying way too much for something reasonable simple is fairly good incentive link? pretty sure nothing like that exists. there is a double ended plug (consult 1 side, obdii the other) that comes with consult II scantool, but it ISNT an adaptor that will allow u to use obdii on a consult car or vice versa.
