D.

cold area pack has bigger battery, heated windscreen wipers (has defog wires in the bottom of the windscreen where the wiper sit) and i'm pretty sure a better starter motor. also had defogging side mirrors but they were most likely removed during compliance because they're convex(?) glass and we cant have that here apparently D.

Eoi - C34 Stagea Roof Rail Replacement Panels
pintaline replied to darrinspencer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
that's the only reason i'm not buying a set. i love the look and it's something that i'm definately going to do one day but $600 for 2 fibreglass covers? i'm sure they're a bit more than just 2 strips of glass but i cant justify $600 for them, no matter how well they're made. as soon as someone offer a more affordable option, ill be there with cash in hand! another good tyre but michelin (who make and supply bfg) have been pretty crap lately when it comes to availabilty of tyres in australia, we seem to be down on the priority list a little D.

Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star - i'd say this would be a jap tyre as i've never heard of it either... federals - cheap tyre, had quite a few thru work that have had cracking problems and most people who come in with them, never buy them again. for that reason, we dont deal with them at work. sumitomo htr ZIII - have a set on a mate's xr6 turbo, he didn't like them, until he wore them in a little, now loves them and recommends them. falken 452 - great tyre, awesome value for money, great performance, can personally recommend these, had them a few times on a few cars and loved them! (by the way, falken is owned/made by sumitomo...) potenza re001 - has won motor mags tyre test 2 years running. great all-round performance. nuff said. followed closely in 2008 by.... maxxis ma-z1 - great tyre again, great value for money. if you want a really great tyre, goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3 - amazing tyre, not so amazing price. you'll be looking around the $6-700 mark for 18/19" but that's what you gota pay if you want the best quality. my pick, if you can afford it, re001 ftw. if you're not that rich, falken 452. both awesome tyres and i'd pick them over most things on the market. oh yeh, i'm a tyre fitter. D.

Decent And Honest Panel Beaters In Canberra
pintaline replied to garantsarajlija's topic in Australian Capital Territory
auto body tecnicians. their office entry is around the corner in winchcombe ct and they do extremely good work. we do all their tyre/wheel work and wheel alignments at work and can highly recommend them. good people that run it too. i'm pretty sure they're always busy though, they have a good reputation and get alot of insurance work but give them a call or drop in and see how you go. also in mitchell is BARS on grimwade st, good work but once again, always packed with insurance work. another one to try is all dents which is up near repco. oh and kershaw's is out there also but i haven't heard much about their work D. -

what colour is the bonnet? i'm guessing silver, hoping white... D. -
yeh it could be used for that i spose... i'm not sure if it works by adjusting the signal at set points/speeds that you set (like 80, 100km/h etc.) or weather it just adjusts it all the way thru the speed curve which is what you'd want if you were changing the dials. if it does, sweet, problem solved! if not then i guess you'd have to set corrections at say 5 or 10km/h incriments to make it accurate but even then it would be slightly off unless you were sitting on one of your set speeds. i'd also be worried about it not correcting the speed until you were doing on of the set correction speeds... say you set it to correct at 80km/h and your speedo was normally over reading by 5km/h. if you were sitting on 79 on your speedo, you'd really be doing 84... so would it start correcting only when you hit 80? if that's how it works then that could be a problem... i hope that all makes sense.... visually, yes. they would look about the same. technically, no. they are about an inch different in diametre. use the link above to check the difference. another thing to consider is that different sizes of tyres will sit differently when under the weight of the car. if i remember tomorrow ill bring home my tyre bible from work and if anyone wants to know rolling heights or anything, i should be able to help. D.

ok to help you all with speedo issues, standard tyres fitted to stageas are: 16inch - 205/55/16 17inch - 215/55/17 (rs4s) these are the factory tyre sizes, there may be some 15s on some cars (possibly non turbo?) but i haven't seen any so i dont know. some stags will have different sizes on their compliance tyre placard but this is only because the tyres were that size at the time of compliance (mine has 225/45/17s, speedo reads 9km/h over what i'm actually doing)) im pretty sure nissan would not have adjusted the speedo to suit the 17s on the manuals so they would just be out from factory. you need to match the rolling height of the 205/55/16 to make your speedo as accurate as you can, ill check the rolling height and any close matches tomorrow at work and get back to you all. the other thing you can do is go to jaycar and buy their electronic speedo correction kit. it's just a little circut that intercepts the signal from the speedo and allows you to adjust it. cost about $45 from memory... i'm yet to fit mine but ill let people know how it goes when i do. as for the attesa question, you must have the same rolling height on the front AND back of your car. there are allowances in the system for tyre wear etc. but from what i've found, they're very small. best to keep same heights all round to prevent any damage to the system or get the closest match you can. ie. i wouldn't allow a difference greater than about 3mm in rolling height. space savers, allows for bigger fuel tank and more boot space, they are the worst thing ever invented and i hate them. they would match the rolling height of the factory 16s. you can put different size tyres on them, i haven't looked into that yet but i've been told not to bother by a few of the reps from companies that make them. the prices are insainly high and it's basically not worth it. Will A V35 Momo Wheel Fit On The M35?
pintaline replied to Houdini's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
same as the C34 momo wheel. haven't seen it with that grain before tho..... D. -
that's exactly why they dont bother making them anymore, they ended up costing more to make so prices went above what cheap chinese tyres cost. surprisingly enough though, we had some brand new re-treads turn up on a car at work a few weeks back..... the guy had bought them 2 days earlier down the coast somewhere and one had already fallen apart and damaged his car on the way up from the coast and the other was about to do the same..... 2 DAYS OLD!!! i wouldn't touch retreads for anything except trucks. try any tyre shops in your area, most will hang on to decent second hand stuff (we do, ill check tomorrow if we have any 18s) D.
