  1. I understand what it is, but I'm looking for peak, sudden, sharp power. Not a nice linear (which is more ideal for track purposes) power curve. Put it this way (not that I'd ever use this as a basis for buying a car), which car will give your passengers the greatest "OMG I'm going to die" feeling from acceleration alone. Also, I know a stock evo isn't crazy quick, I'm just saying they feel way and was asking why.
  2. Hey guys, I asked this in the past, but people misunderstood my question and kept recommending V8s due to their ability to put power down regardless of the where the revs are at. I previously asked at any time, which car provides the highest acceleration. What I meant was at any speed, any time and any car, which SINGLE point will have your eye balls being sucked into the back of your head more than any other. e.g: A worked GTR launching from stand still. A 1000hp Supra the moment it comes onto boost from say... 20kph. A lightweight snappy Silvia from a rolling start. An Evo shooting from 30kph. I dunno, I'm just making shit up, but what car (within a reasonable budget, no Veyrons etc) will achieve the highest acceleration G's at any one moment. Reason I'm asking is because my mate just bought a stock Evo, and its quick, crazy quick, at least it feels that way. I know there are faster cars out there, I've been in them, but they just don't feel as quick. IMO the seat sucking feeling of raw high G acceleration is one of the best feelings you can get from a street car. I also heard stiff suspension and harder Recaro type seats (like the Evo) has can give the illusion of higher G's too due simply to the fact the seat isn't absorbing any of the force, this true?
  3. They look awesome! Is it only SAU NSW members that get it for the lesser price, or all SAU members, regardless of state? Thanks.
  4. 3 girls, 5 guys averaging about 22-25 in age, none of the guys are dodgy looking and we all dress pretty well. As for prices, we're expecting to pay a bit for entry and drinks, but it shouldn't be too bad considering we're staying in an apartment just above Melb Central Station, so we can pre-drink right up until we get there and don't have to worry about paying for a taxi. Thanks for the suggestions so far, I'll look them up now. Edit: On the type of music, it doesn't matter too much. I personally like progessive/trance, but no one else does. My girlfriend likes something she can sing to (more commercial), whilst half the other guys in the group like death metal.
  5. Hey guys, I'm heading out this Saturday in the city with a small group and am looking for somewhere new to try. I personally like Sorry Grandma and La Di Da, but my missus wants to try something new because A) we've been to La Di Da a fair bit, and B) Sorry Grandma is full of 18yos (which is apparently really bad if you're over 18 and female). Basically we like house/dance, some class (nothing ridiculously expensive, but not scummy either), average age being in their 20's and must be located in the CBD. I've searched all the "top club sites" and read numerous reviews, but can't find anything that really appeals. Cheers.
  6. lol which dyno did you use? Cause I wanna take my car there too!

    Buyer Beware

Sounds familiar. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fa...ef-t343164.html That was posted up like 2 weeks ago.
  9. Definitely get an Evo, and an 8 if you can. My mate bought an Evo 8 the other week and after lots of searching they seem to be the best bang for your buck at the moment. Couple grand more than an Evo 7, and much cheaper than an Evo 9. Best part about the Evo is coming from a coupe the sheer room in them is great. Not only do you have a cool, fun car but its really practical and after years in the R33 you've probably forgotten just how handy it can be. Another option is an RX7. Not recommending it so much, but its definitely in your price range.
  10. lol reminds me of the first time I flew helicopter: "Oh cool a helicopter!" Jumps in. Rest of team jumps in behind me. I fly straight up, sideways, and into a cliff. Insert team rage.
  11. Only the SZ-R (which is substantially more expensive) and some SZs with the big brake option have the same brakes as the turbo models. Mine are piddly little 2/1 pot. Word of warning, IF you do decide to go the Supra route with the intention of turbo charging it later, buy the SZ-R, not just because of the improved brakes, diff, etc, but most importantly because it has the Getrag 6spd. The 5spd will bust at around 250rwkw which isn't much in the 2J world.
  12. Another thing to note is that Supra's have quite short gears whereas the Monaro has quite tall ones.
  13. I never said they didn't. I even mentioned that after 100kph the Monaro would probably haul ass and pull away with ease. Doesn't mean that their 0-100 aren't even though.
  14. I just looked up a couple more sources. 6.6-6.8s seems to be the go for a CV8 VZ Monaro 0-100, and I know 6.7 is about right for a Supra because I've seen that number numerous times having done lots of research on them, and the fact my car would easily do it. Also it claims 14.9 is the 1/4 for an SZ Supra, which would be about right for a brand new motor as most (on the forums) do it in low 15's.
  15. I'd disagree with this. I went to the recent Vic drift day in my Supra and did fine, if not better than most of my beginner section turbo partners. I'm no "hektic drifter" but I had more than enough power to get the car sideways and maintain it. I was also talking to some of the guys there about some chick who normally comes but was currently drifting in Japan in her NA 180SX, and they're slugs! Drift is all about the suspension, clutch and diff. Get those sorted and you can manhandle (or womanhandle in this case) and clutch kick your car into any slide.
  16. I recently discovered that a stock NA Supra is as fast as a stock CV8 VZ Monaro when accelerating from 0-100*. Which probably isn't saying anything great for the Supra, but rather how slow the Monaro is. Still the fact a P plate legal car can keep up with a V8 Sports coupe with nearly double the displacement is saying something. Personally though if I had the choice I'd take the Autech S15 any day. It has decent power, a nice interior and the best chassis of all three. * Yes I'm aware if the sprint continued on to 150kph the Monaro would probably be leagues in front, or if you started modding both the Monaro would pull away significantly. 17. Adam misses the joke - apex seals out.
  18. lol I uploaded that. It's my old car. Never judge the sound of an exhaust based on a youtube clip. Firstly I used a $80 digital camera with the world's worst microphone, secondly the Varex does an amazing job at muffling the noise of your exhaust. It literally went from a loud drone to whisper quiet, something you can't tell from that video as the camera is sitting 2feet away from the exhaust. No doubt the proximity also affected how the exhaust sounded, which IMO wasn't that bad.
  19. Someone can have my room. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  20. Who's on 360? My username is "Kez R"
  21. Hey guys, I have a brand new Type B Bee*R Rev Limiter for sale. I bought it directly from Japan for around $300 (plus delivery) with the intention of fitting it to my car, however due to some recent financial problems I need all the cash I can get. Here's a quick video of it in action (this is not my car or the unit I'm selling): I'm asking for $250 and I'm located on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Please keep all replies directed to the buying of this particular product. If you wish to discuss the pros and cons of this limiter please take it to another thread. Thanks.
  22. Sorry guys I'm going to have to pull out too. A couple of unexpected bills have turned up and I really can't afford a full weekend of DECA at the moment.
  23. I found zombie arcade, which is kinda fun.
  24. But how is worse? It's different, but that doesn't automatically mean its worse. Like I said most of the hardcore gamers hate this new versions because its not what they're used to. I hated MW2 (and the original) in the end because I'd log and everyone was multiple prestige and simply owned me. With this game I can keep decent kill/death ratio, at least for now.
  25. Dunno why so many people are hating on this game, I reckon its way better than MW2. It basically IS MW2 but with tons of new little features. Sure if you're the type to prestige 10x over and still rack up a year constantly online play you might see slight differences and problems, but for the casual gamer this game rocks. I like the money system too, although I think it would've been better if guns didn't have level restrictions, but instead had higher costs for the later tier weapons. So you could save for your favourite gun, or just upgrade as you can afford them. The money is common enough to buy pretty much every gun, but not enough to modify them all (no doubt this will change once you level up). So you have to pick and choose which you like. What guns is everyone using? My best so far is the Falil with red dot and silencer, or in smaller maps the AK74u with red dot and dual mags. I just unlocked the AUG too, but I don't think I like it. It shoots insanely fast and I find myself spraying a full clip just to kill one guy.
