  1. Mate its a fair haul. From Hobart to strahan is prob gonna be 4 and a half hours at best. At this time of year the road well parts of it anyway are never dry. Even slighty green/mossy in places 7 hours is about right really. The road between Queenstown and Strahan is mega windy. So basically I wouldnt count on doing it quicker but allow for it to be slower, weather could slow you up. Prob will see some snow but doubt it will be enough to close that road, but you never know
  2. Bit of a hijack, what size tires on what size rims was that racegtst?
  3. got both passenger side and drivers side door screens in today, they go up and down like factory, perfect.
  4. Lexan.. In, intrusion bar removed and 500 grams of doorframe gone. Removed approx 7kg from Each door (so far) Fitment of lexan Is perfect thats including ditching OEM elec mirriors for carbon manual craft square style, removing speaker, replacing glass with lexan, removing intrusion bar and some door frame. could lose another 2.5kg (each door) or so from changing OEM door trims for carbon sheet. will get around to that but will take some time to do nicley so I am going to use the OEM trims for now.
  5. not that i like skylines being torn to bits but I reckon you'd net more cash if you parted that thing out mate. not everyone wants to do that tho and get the money in dribs and drabs. goodluck with the sale anyway
  6. LOL combined club sprint at basky later this year....
  7. I'm building a fairly budget minded sprint/hill climb car ATM, will rarely see the road. I'm going to get a DB power brake kit for the 33gtst, wilwood superlight 4 spots with brackets to fit, 345mm Brembo rotors (just 1 piece). Running a MS stopper, HEL lines rebuilt oem calipers in thd rear, rda discs and QFM pads as I have always run, prob Comp 9's front Comp 2's rear with good ducting to the front. NACA ducts in the front bar with 3" donkey dick running back to the rotors. Endless fluid or similar. What I'm running is actually fairly effective but this should be just a bit better. Just running oem size rotors ATM with QFM ar1m pads. Can get the wilwood kit for 1200 or so landed and the rest is basic. And replacement rotors/pads won't send me broke
  8. cheers mate, it won't be a world beater but should be fun. Can't wait to get it lapping/climbing! =D
  9. picked up my lexan screens today, arrived along with Burgz's kit. got it home, have drilled the passenger side screen and fitted the OEM stops, mount studs & roller. great to work with. rear screen weighs about 4460g sides screens weigh about 2150g and rear qtr screens 730 g OEM side screen weighs about 4700, so less than half the weight. fitment is spot on. also bought another pair of wheels the same as what i have on the car, but same size and offset as rear. changed G/box fluid from penrite sin to smurfs blood, leightweight shockproof, instantly silkier. so ticked a few little things of the todo list. desperate to finish it but the boat ate a big chunk of my funds this month, dammit! not too much further away.
  10. Picked up my kit today off Burgz, just drilled holes in passenger side screen for the mount studs stops and guide, great to work with. Great fit. Rear screen same deal nice fit. We got 5mm side and 4mm qtr and rear. The rear weighs 4460grams, sides about 2180 and qtr screens 730 grams. Oem side screen was about 4700 on the 33. So they lived up to their ' half the weight or less' can't complain for the money so far
  11. this is good news, you'd be laughing if you could just chuck a new cam at it and go again.
  12. 265 on the rear, easily. 245/40 should be fine on the front. i have 265 semi's on that same size/offset on mine and they are a nice fit, and 265 road tyres wont be quite as wide so wont be a drama.
  13. I really don't like to get into wheel nazi nerd arguments, nor do I get into the flush/tucked/stance pants shirts tucked into pants crap. BUT that choice of sizing is going to look shit matey. Anything less than a 9 on a skyline is a crime. And a 8 minimum up front, but with lower offset than 35. A 8.5" plus 30 or less and 9" plus 30 odd on the rear is what I'd consider the smallest wheels to put on it. The 8" in plus 35 will sit a long way in the guards, make the car look skinny and isn't much chop all round. My 2 cents anyway, cheers
  14. thats good news matey. re the 5th of august, fairo, might see if i can make it along.
  15. is cheap, is good! make good sprint tyres and hill climb rubber. (work okay from cold) unless your racing for sheep stations, A050's, DZ03's and Z221's are a wee bit pricey. unless they have become cheap, if so i want in! lol
  16. yeah pretty much came to that conclusion. I'm an Ex panel beater, so have the gear to do so but can't bring myself to unspot them and rip them out. well not at this stage anyway. E46 beamer intrusion bars bolt out, wish datsun's where the same!
  17. its is actually pretty rigid, i have a bit of 2.5mm thick stuff that i trialed, spreads the load more evenly on the boot skin, but the bracing in the boot is mounted upto the boot skin, which took me (90kg) bouncing up and down on it. the said carbon will also hide some holes from a previous wing trial, lol
  18. SAU tas is dead atm, so here's some more of my shit. nowelly, look away now. made my splitter end plates/fins. made my blank plate for my dash where the head unit used to live. made base plates for some F1 craft square style carbon lightweight mirrors. (still have protective shit on) - black polly carb. and didnt take pics but made up some carbon sheets that cover the OEM wing holes in the boot, going to fit some 300mmx300 carbon base plates to the boot under the wing also. even tho i have braced the boot/wing with 3mm wall ally RHS, bit of added rigidity wont hurt. will eventually get myself a carbon flush fitting boot, but that is going to have to wait til more important shit is bought. lexan screens wont be too far away. couple more weeks. I also got some new hole saw bits and decided to cheddar cheese my door frame. using both 52mm and 32mm saw bits. did 31 holes, to removed a grand total of 100 grams. um, think i'll stop there at best i'll get another 100 grams out (of the passengers isde door). total waste of time and effort. only way to make enough difference would be to remove the oem intrusion bar, cut the entire inside section of the door frame out remove window reg and run permantenly fixed lexan screen with NACA sliders. bugger that, i'll run lexan screens but i'm keep my elec. window regs. will save around 1 kg per side on the mirrors. carbon doors would save a shitload but thats not happening anytime soon! hoping to get the boot painted out in the next few weeks, not too many things left now =D
  19. yep just checked the events again, the next sprint at basky is the combined clubs event on the 28th of october, bit of a way off but no excuses for me, should have my cob web infested dust collector lapping by then =D
  20. 2k? Nah matey 1600 delivered to aus from the uk for a full 32r kit and a full 33 kit both in hardcoat. 800 for sides qtrs and a rear. Not tinted, but OEM edge round the qtrs. unsure if I will fit the qtrs yet see how they look first.
  21. ahh cool. yeah i saw it in the events calender and thought it may be along those lines. will def and try to make it up, maybe even have a run against you! good to hear the car is going well, minus the nose getting smashed. how did that happen anyway?
