just following the rest of the people on this...lol its a load of crap ,,, carbon credits my ass !!!! I just got a full solar setup and sold my carbon credits back to the company for twice what there worth... to make up for it I drove the skyline with the AC on for a week... guess I cant say Im carbon neutral but try to be conservative around the house etc..lol if I can live off the grid , water, sewer everything I will. but wont give up a sweet car to save a litre of fuel while some dumb ass burns down the rainforest to grow corn and drugs

the skyline doors really sound sooooo much better with lots of sound deadener. like a new car when you close it. my GTT has innner, outter, and sound mats behind the speakers. and the door panels now have foam filled handles and other sound deadener to stop the squeak between the lower and upper parts when your hip leans on them... annoying !!! plus my door pockets are going to be gone this week and filled up with another pair of splits... the little packs that dynomat give you isnt nearly enough to do a small door properly, as chris suggested above. there are a multitude of products that do the job, some better some worse..some you find at Bunnings for next to nothing hint hint and for all those people who think its too heavy for a street car,clean out your macca's wrappers.... I'd rather my car sound solid built then a rattle can . you can only drive so fast on the roads anyhow? if I wanted a race car I wouldnt put a radio in it...end rant ...lol

mine had it also, and yes it will bolt up ok the gap should be filled with trim ring off radio ? if doubeldin or pocket etc it not. mine is remolded/ retrimmed in carbon fibre now

as Jack said......you dont have to ditch the spare or jack, just be more creative in the install and at least carry a can of "fix a flat" stuff I hate depending on others if my car gets a flat and certainly dont want to leave it on the road to go get help while the crims get leasure time for parts stripping.

try the local aircraft parts supplier or truck parts they use lots of bulkhead connections. you want waterproof and heat proof parts and use extreme care when drilling out firewalls or any car panels, some hide some interesting suprises, , double layers, sand like filling, batterys to drill into,, the list goes on and on.

^ all good points I think , but your description of speaker noises doesnt lend itself to electrical interference ? cracking and distorting, is normally only on 1 or 2 speakers , when they get punched in/torn or burned coils, etc.(or if you carry crap in your door pockets that rattles) if all of them do it , its in the signal path if its more a whine or crackle then its in the RCA ,power/ground path most of the time if it does it with the car off as well as on then you know its not the charging system , unless the battery is shithouse below 12volts Soundstream Lil wonders fail, as does any amp Sony radios fail same as above you have ruled out the radio already so check the amp power and signal cables ? check the speaker wires on the amp, are they cross shorted on the terminals or pinched under or thru anything ? who installed it a Pro or self ? have you installed or seviced anything else on the car since it started ? if all else fails GO SEE A PRO IN PERSON,, hard to see or hear what kind of issues you have beyond the forum and what was suggested already, hope that helps
