Hey Michael, the 599 race is easy... I found most races are easy if you set the car to 'standard' (I think its called standard) simulation and not 'professional'. The 599/Z06 etc are just too twitchy on full throttle out of 2nd gear corners using the gamepad. Not sure if it's any better with a steering wheel. I reckon the '1-2 finish' F430 race at Suzuka is the best when setting the car to professional simulation... very challenging. I got a white 40G PS3 from Tsutaya in Kobe for 38,500 yen btw, thats a good $200 cheaper than typical Aussie prices which is a real shame.

Has anyone else finished this game? I did it a few weeks ago and the prize car is the 2005 GT-R Poto... without the 'in-car' dashboard view. Pretty underwhelming if you ask me Anyway it's a good game and certainly makes the wait for the full game a bit harder.

I reckon $15K would do nicely in my pocket rather than Nissan's don't you? Especially when people in other markets are getting exactly the same car for less even taking into account exchange rates, taxes, duties etc. I realize AU is a small market compared to the rest but still... surely something can be done.
-
^^^ Definitely sounds like a worst case senario. I've said before that Nissan AU could get very greedy with this car, I wouldn't be surprised if they do and slap a useless $10K - $15K premium for absolutely no reason other than to make Aussies pay through the nose.

I think funky meant the actual site itself has nothing to do with Nissan... which is right.

I think theres more people going to the press day than on the public days...

Glad you find it so amusing I might add that I stopped calling it a V35/36 (or anything for that matter - just 'new GT-R') almost 2 years ago now, because back then I had a sneaking feeling Nissan might do the unthinkable and call it an R35. I was the first to admit I was wrong the moment Nissan made the chassis code official : http://www.7tune.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=128 (post #5 scroll down) Anyway, rub in my mistake as much as you want champ

Lame Amongst car enthusiasts I can see the appeal of having an ad campaign designed to increase hype and exposure, but you've got to ask whether the ordinary person on the street is going to really care all that much about a car they can neither afford nor think is very practical for everyday use. It really does look like they (Nissan) have a new 'wunderkind' and are milking it for everything they've got... <-- that's the lame part IMO

I'm hiding in Kobe during the week (and on weekends too...)
-
I saw the official Nissan sales documentation at Global Auto last Sunday. The Nissan GT-R chassis code is CBA-R35... had this confirmed over the phone by a Nissan High Performance Center here in Kobe too.

lol... I just enjoy reading what other people have to say without getting involved. I don't really have many nice things to say about Hamilton anyway.
-
I have a Press pass (7tune) and will be there on the 24th... what day will you be there Jeff?
-
lol you're on the ball aren't you? Done it already. But I'd have to link you to my website again and that's not so cool is it... Here you go (from the 7tune forum):

I just find it funny that so many people who discredited the Japanese mags for being 'rumour peddlers' for so long are still doing it... despite evidence (and a lot of it) to the contrary. Just because the Japanese mags have a habit of making their own CG images (which - as far as the new GT-R is concerned - were 100% on the money a month or more beforehand) to go along with their articles, doesn't mean the info is made up too. They go out of their way to get real scoops first before anyone.... they're their own cars ffs. But you wouldn't know that if you can't understand Japanese now would you?
-
It was misspelt... ever spelt a Japanese persons name wrong? That's how easy it is. Their editors are dealing with a foreign language and a mistake got through, don't shoot down their credibility over a single misspelt word. Speaking of credibility, have a look at all those links I posted (and m3gtr quoted) and then compare that info to the OFFICIAL presales documentation released just last week. There you'll see just how credible these so-called 'rumour mags' are... they're bang on the money 80 - 90% of the time. They scooped the engine code/weight/dimensions/engine capacity/transmissions two months or more in advance! Only now some 'credible' non-Japanese mags are catching on... two months after the fact. The Japanese mags are credible, it's just short sighted homebodies who don't get out much and the badwagon jumpers that think they aren't. The GT-R will weigh 1700kg+.

Skyline Gts-t Spec M Series 2
Rezz replied to vladinator's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Actually it was known as the 'GTS25t Type M Active LSD', not 'Type LM'. -
No it doesn't, it just says "get on down to your local Nissan High Performance Center to make a preorder". Nissan won't make ordering the GT-R that simple... http://www.7tune.com/?p=109

Yes it's English written with a Japanese 'alphabet'. So if you were to read it, it'd sound like: 'Roo-king-goo / Bee-nee-soo / zah / sah-fih-soo'. Doesn't sound so cool now does it...
-
Ok, first of all I'll be straight up with you: don't do this. People have got to understand that English phrases written in Katakana or Hiragana - while a seemingly interesting talking point amongst your Aussie friends - will bring giggles and quizzical looks from anyone that is either Japanese or understands Japanese language. Here it is anyway, don't say I didn't warn you (other people may have slightly different spelling to what I've done... it doesn't matter either way)

It's expected to have a proper FR transaxel with driveshafts to the front wheels. The electric motors for the front wheels (e-4WD) and the motor assisted turbos were investigated, but were dropped because of cost and complexity. If the new GT-R were to have a (higher) price tag closer to Porsche's 911 turbo we might've seen these features. The car will be incredible anyway.

I think what the tinters are saying is that the sunroof might shatter while they're tinting it. They have to use a heat gun to heat shrink the tint so it sits down properly on the curved glass. If they accidently use too much heat (which can happen) it might push the glass beyond the max temp it can withstand and crack or even break with the slightest amount of pressure, like when opening or closing the sunroof. It's possible the integrity of the glass might also be affected thereafter if the glass has been heated way over what it can withstand... with an outcome similar to what kryzsiu posted.

Yep you're right. Just one thing... theres hundreds of thousands of people who want to know beforehand. So these articles cater for those people... whether they're right or wrong. October 24th is going to be the acid test day for Holiday Auto.

The VQ30DETT is Nissan's current engine of choice for Japan's top-tier motorsport category did you say? You're a bit behind the times there Did you also not read this part: ... it's not entirely about super dooper RB26 busting performance. Exlusivity plays an equally big part as does ultimate performance. Thats why the engine isn't a VQ, and that's why the engine isn't a VK. It's funny you say the VRH35L is hardly a test bed for a supercar engine when the VQ has been ditched this year in favour of a VK for the GT500 Fairlady Z. It's not like Nissan had a few 1999 VRH blocks lying around and has 'blown off the dust' and used them again 8 years down the track. The new engine - according to Holiday Auto - is a recreation of the VRH35L albeit in 3.8L V6 form with VVEL (2007 tech right there), twin turbos with integrated exhaust manifolds (never heard of that before), semi-wet sump, and Euro 5 compliant emissions. So the game has lifted since 2000? Good thing the new GT-Rs engine has too Btw, the VK is based on the VQ, not the VRH (VH)

Don't get too depressed, those are just Holiday Auto's estimates. They said themselves that it was what they expected the specifications to be and might differ slightly. How much? Who knows... just wait until the end of next month
