  1. Yes it's English written with a Japanese 'alphabet'. So if you were to read it, it'd sound like: 'Roo-king-goo / Bee-nee-soo / zah / sah-fih-soo'. Doesn't sound so cool now does it...
  2. Ok, first of all I'll be straight up with you: don't do this. People have got to understand that English phrases written in Katakana or Hiragana - while a seemingly interesting talking point amongst your Aussie friends - will bring giggles and quizzical looks from anyone that is either Japanese or understands Japanese language. Here it is anyway, don't say I didn't warn you (other people may have slightly different spelling to what I've done... it doesn't matter either way)

    The New Gtr

It's expected to have a proper FR transaxel with driveshafts to the front wheels. The electric motors for the front wheels (e-4WD) and the motor assisted turbos were investigated, but were dropped because of cost and complexity. If the new GT-R were to have a (higher) price tag closer to Porsche's 911 turbo we might've seen these features. The car will be incredible anyway.
  4. I think what the tinters are saying is that the sunroof might shatter while they're tinting it. They have to use a heat gun to heat shrink the tint so it sits down properly on the curved glass. If they accidently use too much heat (which can happen) it might push the glass beyond the max temp it can withstand and crack or even break with the slightest amount of pressure, like when opening or closing the sunroof. It's possible the integrity of the glass might also be affected thereafter if the glass has been heated way over what it can withstand... with an outcome similar to what kryzsiu posted.
  5. Yep you're right. Just one thing... theres hundreds of thousands of people who want to know beforehand. So these articles cater for those people... whether they're right or wrong. October 24th is going to be the acid test day for Holiday Auto.
  6. The VQ30DETT is Nissan's current engine of choice for Japan's top-tier motorsport category did you say? You're a bit behind the times there Did you also not read this part: ... it's not entirely about super dooper RB26 busting performance. Exlusivity plays an equally big part as does ultimate performance. Thats why the engine isn't a VQ, and that's why the engine isn't a VK. It's funny you say the VRH35L is hardly a test bed for a supercar engine when the VQ has been ditched this year in favour of a VK for the GT500 Fairlady Z. It's not like Nissan had a few 1999 VRH blocks lying around and has 'blown off the dust' and used them again 8 years down the track. The new engine - according to Holiday Auto - is a recreation of the VRH35L albeit in 3.8L V6 form with VVEL (2007 tech right there), twin turbos with integrated exhaust manifolds (never heard of that before), semi-wet sump, and Euro 5 compliant emissions. So the game has lifted since 2000? Good thing the new GT-Rs engine has too Btw, the VK is based on the VQ, not the VRH (VH)
  7. Don't get too depressed, those are just Holiday Auto's estimates. They said themselves that it was what they expected the specifications to be and might differ slightly. How much? Who knows... just wait until the end of next month
  8. Great stuff... the variety of pics is excellent Another vote for the Sunline GT-R here!
  9. Considering there won't be one single Skyline badge on it, I agree with you
  10. The V-Spec will be around A$110,000 in Japan (11,000,000 yen)... so the base model (in Japan) will be around A$80K or so. I think thats a fair price from Nissan AU.
  11. Only 5 years late... better late than never I suppose

    What Track Is This?

Thread closed. Don't know what happened exactly but it's a wasted thread now.

    What Track Is This?

Drift Limo is there any more info you can give us about the pic? Where did you get it, is it a still from a video, is there a larger pic? If theres a larger pic you could probably check the stickers on the car search around for the workshop that does the work on that car, and they might have a reference to either the car or the event that car appeared at. I've tried looking for that car in particular, but 'orange A31 Cefiro' (in Japanese of course) is a little on the vague side... lol Any extra info at all would help.
  14. Thats a promotional pic of the GT-R Proto Richard...
  15. Sorry Angus, I saw this thread with only one view on it (you) but didn't reply, just waited to see if anyone else was keen to help out. Anyway, here goes: 1994 R32 GT-R 111,000kms Gun grey metallic (KH2) Aftermarket Turbine kit (engine rebuild is in order I think) Aftermarket boost controller ??? Clutch ??? something in there which is illegible Aftermarket Audio Aftermarket Alloy wheels Aftermarket muffler Aftermarket suspension Aftermarket HID kit Nismo 260km/h speedo (instrument cluster swapped, genuine Kms?) All damage as per illustration, seems to be fairly shabby. Seeing as you want to swap parts over I won't bother explaining it. Seems like it has a bit of gear on it, not sure whether it's be worth importing though... a car like that is at auctions for one reason, it's been abused and is in need of major mechanical repair.
  16. Good job though with the point and shoot... with a 1 sec max shutter speed yeah? But Iiiiiiiiii dunno Richard... they still look fairly close to the ground I'm not sure if you can class one of these as a tripod:
  17. Has anyone, EVER, brought a tripod to Daikoku PA? Post pics if you know of someone who has...
  18. The 'fuzz' is about you claiming that cars can be registered with overseas numberplates in Australia. They can't. They get a UVP under carnet for a limited amount of time. Can't make it any clearer than that sorry... unless your idea of 'registration' includes Unregistered Vehicle Permits which would say alot
  19. I'm an auction buyer in Osaka and Kobe, and I see a few getting around... not many, but I'd say out of every 10 I see, 8 will be modified and have some kind of repaired accident damage, the other two will be mint stockers which will be exported to either Australia, NZ or the UK... So to answer your question, yes they are around, you just have to be prepared to wait a while for a good one.
  20. Read the post again champ... That was a stab at the 'bogan element' in Australia, ie: it doesn't matter how good the GT-R is, there'll still be some bogan standing there saying how shit it is compared to a Commodore HSV which is thousands of dollars cheaper.
  21. That link you provided is for a UVP under Carnet (Unregistered Vehicle Permit... 'Unregistered' being the key word here) valid for 12 months after which the car must be exported back to the country of origin. So no, you can't 'register' a car in Australia with foreign plates... thats absurd.
  22. Nice easy to read font there buddy. You're talking about the GT-R (I take it?) and what it's impact will be upon release, but it isn't going to be called a Skyline. This has been officially confirmed and put to rest since late 2005. I agree that the GT-R will have stiff competition fom other established brands but it'll boil down to 'value for money' in the end... if the GT-R is good enough at a price thats deemed as good value then they should sell well... we don't know how many Nissan intend to sell yet so how well it sells according to those figures will show whether it's a success or failure. Again, the new GT-R is not a Skyline anymore so calling it one is incorrect, although not calling it a proper GT-R is entirely up to you... people have been saying that on this forum since early 2004 so you're kinda 'preaching to the converted'...

    Parts In Japan

Anyone can do it, you don't need to go through a certain shop or anything like that. Just ask any of the guys that are in Japan that send parts to AU.
  24. Wha...? Fair enough about the drivers license thing, I've had mine for over 4 years and wasn't aware of all that transcript stuff you were talking about. I certainly wasn't required to get a transcript of my driving history but I guess things have changed. The link I posted was just an overview of the process required for gett a D/L in Japan, and fortunately for Aussies it's very easy compared to what people from the US have to go through. Having said that, if you want to go into step by step minute detail with someone who may or may not even get their license in Japan, then be my guest You just repeated what I said about bringing a car over to Japan (ie: don't) but did it in your own 'doomsday' style... No offense mate Anyway I'm not trying to outdo you in the 'holy shit I'm Mr JAPAN! ' stakes, just adding a different perspective to give to those people who want to know. It did raise my eyebrows when you said 'forget Osaka' and 'you'll only need 2 days there'... like it was some backwater town? Far from it. In fact (you'll know this already from your Ganguro days ) Osaka leads the nation in Yamanba/Center Guy fashion, Tokyo is actually one season behind... Whatever... peace God bless
  25. You seem to be forgetting (lol wtf?) that theres a bunch of Japanese people that - now hold on to your undies here - can actually speak English! Now iddn't dat somfin????
