  1. The 'fuzz' is about you claiming that cars can be registered with overseas numberplates in Australia. They can't. They get a UVP under carnet for a limited amount of time. Can't make it any clearer than that sorry... unless your idea of 'registration' includes Unregistered Vehicle Permits which would say alot
  2. I'm an auction buyer in Osaka and Kobe, and I see a few getting around... not many, but I'd say out of every 10 I see, 8 will be modified and have some kind of repaired accident damage, the other two will be mint stockers which will be exported to either Australia, NZ or the UK... So to answer your question, yes they are around, you just have to be prepared to wait a while for a good one.
  3. Read the post again champ... That was a stab at the 'bogan element' in Australia, ie: it doesn't matter how good the GT-R is, there'll still be some bogan standing there saying how shit it is compared to a Commodore HSV which is thousands of dollars cheaper.
  4. That link you provided is for a UVP under Carnet (Unregistered Vehicle Permit... 'Unregistered' being the key word here) valid for 12 months after which the car must be exported back to the country of origin. So no, you can't 'register' a car in Australia with foreign plates... thats absurd.
  5. Nice easy to read font there buddy. You're talking about the GT-R (I take it?) and what it's impact will be upon release, but it isn't going to be called a Skyline. This has been officially confirmed and put to rest since late 2005. I agree that the GT-R will have stiff competition fom other established brands but it'll boil down to 'value for money' in the end... if the GT-R is good enough at a price thats deemed as good value then they should sell well... we don't know how many Nissan intend to sell yet so how well it sells according to those figures will show whether it's a success or failure. Again, the new GT-R is not a Skyline anymore so calling it one is incorrect, although not calling it a proper GT-R is entirely up to you... people have been saying that on this forum since early 2004 so you're kinda 'preaching to the converted'...

    Parts In Japan

Anyone can do it, you don't need to go through a certain shop or anything like that. Just ask any of the guys that are in Japan that send parts to AU.
  7. Wha...? Fair enough about the drivers license thing, I've had mine for over 4 years and wasn't aware of all that transcript stuff you were talking about. I certainly wasn't required to get a transcript of my driving history but I guess things have changed. The link I posted was just an overview of the process required for gett a D/L in Japan, and fortunately for Aussies it's very easy compared to what people from the US have to go through. Having said that, if you want to go into step by step minute detail with someone who may or may not even get their license in Japan, then be my guest You just repeated what I said about bringing a car over to Japan (ie: don't) but did it in your own 'doomsday' style... No offense mate Anyway I'm not trying to outdo you in the 'holy shit I'm Mr JAPAN! ' stakes, just adding a different perspective to give to those people who want to know. It did raise my eyebrows when you said 'forget Osaka' and 'you'll only need 2 days there'... like it was some backwater town? Far from it. In fact (you'll know this already from your Ganguro days ) Osaka leads the nation in Yamanba/Center Guy fashion, Tokyo is actually one season behind... Whatever... peace God bless
  8. You seem to be forgetting (lol wtf?) that theres a bunch of Japanese people that - now hold on to your undies here - can actually speak English! Now iddn't dat somfin????
  9. This link is very helpful regarding the drivers license/international D/L: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2022.html Regarding importing your car to Japan: Even if you're not scared away by the frieght cost and associated paperwork, getting it registered (while not impossible) would be too expensive to justify for most people... especially when you could pick up a drift car with all the gear ready to go for about $5,000 give or take. (assuming you become a resident of Japan)
  10. You know so much about Kyoto yet don't know thats the sign to Tezuka Osamu World??? You ok mate?
  11. The KFM is an institution amongst foreigners in Kansai. It's been going for about 20 years or more(?) now and has probably helped about 99% of the foreigners here whether it be finding jobs/accomodation, a sayonara sale or just useful info. I actually got my very first copy almost 7 years ago now (jeezuz has it been that long?) at a tourist information counter at a train station. You don't need a car... girls more often than not don't care about cars here. Money on the other hand... it's the same as in any country. Btw, don't listen to m3gtr and his anit-Osaka sentiment... he's obviously tried to break into the Ganguro scene here in Namba and got rejected. Hard.
  12. Tales, if you want to know about the situation in Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe, check out the Kansai Flea Market: http://www.kfm.to/indexe.html ...click on downloads for weekly pdf's of the mag for a no bullshit view of the work and accomodation situation there. Bare in mind that this is only info geared towards foreigners, it's not an accurate view of the *entire* situation in those areas (which is huge).
  13. Hehe... I feel like an idiot now for asking
  14. Who's this girl you speak of?
  15. I agree that Tokyo has more opportunities, but to some (many?) people, being 'bigger and brighter' is a drawback. Theres much more to Japan than Tokyo, and to not understand why some people avoid the place and set up elsewhere is being superficial. You can still be a sexy gaijin pseudo-rockstar in Osaka you know...

  23. Because I've been around here (Japan and SAU) long enough to know better. Think about it... ??? I answered his question? Yeah righty-o... *pat* *pat* :laughing-smiley-014:
  24. Geez how long have you slackers been in Japan? Can't key in a simple katakana phrase for the poor lad and check the first 10 odd results? tsk tsk tbag, I think this is the mob you're after: http://www1.ocn.ne.jp/~p-craft/ They're way over in Yamaguchi ken and I don't know anything about them, but if you look at the owners gallery they all sorts of cars but specializing in Skylines. Well at least you got some contact details now... but I agree with Poida, good luck in asking them for info on something they did up to 5+ years ago...
