  1. HAHAHAHA! Gold! Alright now lads, I hope this doesn't get out of hand... just remember DCD, Australians "take the piss" all the time... it's hereditary... and all in good humour (most of the time!)

    AE86 - cant find any!

Yeah, the Australian 4A-C version called a Toyota "Sprinter" (Rear wheel drive too, topi)... which it's name was at odds with the Japanese models because the j-spec "Sprinter Trueno" had the pop-up lights, whereas the "Carolla Levin" was the one that had the regular headlights... just like the Aussie version. So theoretically, the Aussie version is closest to the AE85 Carolla Levin SR, but with a wheezy 4A-C instead of the almost-as-bad Japanese ver. 3A-U.

Are you talking about RHD AE86s, or RHD cars in general? Australia drives on the left... just like England
  4. With Shaken, car get checked (as Troy said) for roadworthyness. My father-in-law said he got defected for a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g... windscreen wiper blades, rubber door surrounds, fuel filler caps etc. A typical inspection on a "not very well" kept car could set the owner back 2-300,000 yen in repairs. This is one of the reasons why you get such cheap used cars in Japan, the owners run the shaken out with a modified and abused car, then sell it just before Shaken is up... at a fraction of the price they bought it for, all because returning it back to standard and/or going through Shaken will cost big bucks. The other big cost in Japan with owning a car is... parking (if you don't live in a house - Dave you lucky bugger! )
  5. DOH!!!Jason I totally got tied up with hospital visits, Doctors appointments, you name it. Sorry mate!
  6. Yeah, as far as I know, Napolean was left handed, so when he was riding a horse (no joke!) he would ride up always on the right hand side of the enemy (the British) and try and chop their heads off or something... thus the whole thing got carried on till the present day where the French, and more or less mainland Europe, drive on the right. Now the British, being as anti-French as they were back then, decided to give France the proverbial middle-finger salute and ride/drive on the left.

Yes mate, still there... me and Troy took a look at it back in Feb and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere in a hurry!

Light and compact FR car with legendary tail-out biased handling??? I agree, they're too expensive, but thats what happens when demand outstrips supply (or lack of)... just like my oldskool Nike Air Max 90's...

  24. The HKS Dual Dragger came about because of some ground clearance issues with the normal Super Dragger muffler on some cars, also at the time, the dual canisters were the "in" thing... most of the big-name manufacturers had their own "Dual type" mufflers. I wouldn't think performance would be any worse than a usual Super Dragger exhaust system, although it'd be a bit heavier. If performance is the important thing, the only thing I'd do is sell the Dual Dragger and get a Titanium exhaust (any brand)... the weight saving alone is worth it IMO.
