Wtf...? Nice rant towards the end there champ First of all, 'V36' is a chassis number... not displacement. We're up to 'V36' now, last Skyline being the 'V35'... remember that one? Nowhere in that article does it discuss displacement. I'm not defensive or uptight. You're reading into things too much if you think that. And heres what I think The next GT-R will be an enthusiasts car, it will not be marketed towards mums and dads or 'Eddie Maguire' (lol), and I wouldn't be suprised if Nissan field one in motorsport eventually (not sure which class), and it will see track time in some form or another.

No I didn't... where does it say that? Mate there a different capacity quoted in each different magazine out there... seriously 3.6L, 3.7L, 3.8L... and now this british site with 4.0L. The current VQ37HR in the V36 Skyline coupe is a reality though, so that sounds about right to me. But as far as a 'mums and dads' car is concerned... not sure how you can say that when the thing isn't even released yet?

Maybe not.

Yes, but the RB26 made 280ps @ 6800rpm too (same rpm as VQ35HR)... thats why I said 'is it high enough for you?'

Never heard of the VQ35HR in the current Z33 series 2 and V36 sedan? 232kw @ 6,800rpm high enough for you? Granted an extra 500cc might change that a little but I'm sure Nissan can find a way to counter 'low revving nature'. I'm not agreeing that the new GT-R will be 4.0L btw, far from it.

*Rather* than a Japanese circuit? The Nurburgring has always been the benchmark for testing... Nissan didn't just suddenly say "Hey! European market is huge! Gotta get some of that action... lets go to Nurburgring!" lol GT-R32: yep you're right there, under 8 minutes for the next GT-R as quoted on that sight tells me the writer doesn't quite know what he talking about.

Wow, those Nissan AU prices are insane... I'm pretty sure they pluck some of those prices out of the air sometimes though. While I was in Australia I bought some stuff through the local Nissan dealer which were the same part numbers I had bought from Japan about 3 months earlier (for another car which was same model ECR33) and I got the quote which was exactly double what I paid for in Japan (which was about $110 difference!). I went back there to order the parts but before I did, I showed them the boxes from Nissan JP and the associated reciepts. They started to say all this BS about freight charges etc which totally went over my head and I asked for the 'real price' which they promptly knocked $70 off. I'm not sure if the bumped up the original quote because they were bored, or if it was a decision made by Nissan AU excecs to make more money... it was totally unfair and was the last time I ever bought stuff through Nissan AU. In other words: Get stuff from Nissan Japan

Because Japanese don't understand the meaning of 'Race bred' in it's English context as used in way it has on the www.racebred.com website, and they'd never use such a phrase for what is supposed to be a simple alphanumeric designation for an engine. The do however understand 'Response' and 'Balance', these two words are used in everyday Japanese language, they've been used heavily since the US occupation after WW2. Anyone thats lived in Japan or who speaks fluent Japanese would know this. Anyone who has just a passing fancy in Nissans or Japan/Japanese cars wouldn't. (ie: the person on Yahoo Answers) More eg: ECCS = Electronic-Concentrated-Engine-Control-System ATTESA E-TS = Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic - Torque Split HICAS = High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension I can't understand the urge some of you have to resist the meaning the Japanese are using, and sticking to what some random Aussie or whatever said. Where you at all disappointed when you Mum told you Santa wasn't actually real? Seems almost like the same situation... gazza750: to answer your question, I'll send an email to Nissan but don't hold your breath on a forthcoming answer.

Alright go ask the same question (in Japanese) over at http://www.gtroc.com/ and see what answer you get... I know I'm going to believe what a Japanese says about their own engines over what some cornbread fanboy on Yahoo Answers says Whats with rebelling against correct knowledge and haging on to wrong information anyway? You know what it really means now, but you still say you'll believe the wrong thing? Thats totally absurd.
