  1. Been here since 2000... not that that means anything lol.
  2. lol great thread, will read again AAAAAA++++++++
  3. The special attachment! I knew there had to be a way! Terry, can I put in a special request for scans of any Kobe/Osaka slides you might have?
  4. wat... Any chance you could get a few scanned? (I'm assuning you can scan slides somehow) and post some up? It's be fascinating to see some pics of Japan from around that time.
  5. Forgive me for my tardiness... hope you're still interested lol Remember, externally it's only the intercooler grille thing which the N1 has extra in comparison to the Nismo, all the other stuff like the little bonnet extension thing, extra intercooler intakes on the front bumper and no rear wiper are present on both models.
  6. "Skyline GT-R Memorial" has a 'chapter' on the early R32 GT-R N1, but it's only a paragraph talking about the differences and some shots of the practically identical GT-R Nismo. Externally AFAIK it's only the intercooler grille which is added to the N1 in comparison to the Nismo, everything else, bonnet "mold" (little extension thing), front bumper intakes, no rear wiper etc are all the same. No interior/under bonnet shots. Want a scan?
  7. You're actually getting 27.9% volume of extra value with those square watermelons. not to mention the savings from packing space, ease of stacking, don't roll around...
  8. Doesn't anyone watch the news anymore? NHK have been reporting on tax increases on groceries etc since at least June or so. All to do with the aging population you see
  9. East Bear? lol It's KYOKUTO. It means "Far East". The company is known as Far East Trading company or nowadays "FET"!! http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/FET%E6%A5%B5%E6%9D%B1 http://www.fet-japan.co.jp/
  10. Adam obviously didn't see the "Nissan High Performance Center" badge on the staffs overalls in the 2nd pic
  11. I see your ultra-nationalist Delica spacegear and raise you a semi-Vanning HiAce:
  12. It's not that I haven't learnt it, it's that I don't accept it
  13. Retarded drving move #87,568: Was heading east along the "Harbour Highway" raised tolled expressway which is part of the Osaka wangansen. It's two levels the whole way from Kobe to Osaka so it's 3 lanes either way most of its length. Where it starts in Kobe though it's only two lanes either way, with the left hand lane having exits every 2km or so. Anyway, I'm in the lower tier two laned section and we're going around 100 - 110km/h (marked as 60km/h lol) when we come up to a straight section. I can see ahead and theres an exit turn off at the end of the straight section before it bend around to go to Rokko Island. LO AND BEHOLD we have to come to an abrupt halt about 100m from the exit. I'm in the righthand lane and I want to go straight ahead dammit! Why are both lanes stopped? Turns out there's this old guy in a Crown trying to jump the queue to the exit by driving right up to the point where it turns off and tried to do a suicide manuever and cut off a bigass truck. Truck driver thinks "Not on my watch asshole" and doesn't let him in... neither do the next 6 or so trucks behind him!! No shit, a line of 7 trucks (the looong fixed chassis type) are all bumper to bumper not letting this old guy in. So what does old guy do? He *GETS OUT* and flags down the first car following after the trucks and does the bowing "Moushiwakearimasen but can I please hop in front of you" regretful request. This whole time the old guys car is in the right lane unattended blocking us... I ccouldn't believe it. The whole thing only lasted 5 minutes or so but still, the nerve of that guy to hold up hundreds of cars on account of him not getting in the left lane until the very last second and then getting denied... how long has he been driving? Surely you learn your lesson after the first 63 times you get denied trying to jump queues? Google street view: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=U...705100077547506 (happened right at that spot, the exit is up a bit on the left)
  14. lol @ Chevy van driven by Uyoku... har har, at least be consistent
  15. Yeah but the GT-R isn't a Porsche... and $160K is un-fuggin-believable. I just can't believe Nissan will try and fleece the GT-R faithful like that... no way. Good news about March 2009, that's more like it.
  16. That extra $60K-odd for AU delivered GT-Rs better go into a cabin mounted gold plate esspresso maker or a 52" LCD on the dash... otherwise what an absolute joke.
  17. Thanks again guys I'm going to talk to the local Kyouikuiinkai and see what happens... I don't expect to be very successful but I have a plan of attack so fingers crossed.
  18. Thanks Andrew, good firsthand experience was what I was after and you delivered. Basically I'm trying to convince myself not to take the interview. I'm at the stage (well 3 years past the stage actually) of English teaching altogether, but my situation has chaned once again and I have to look at something for at least 6 months to a year to tie me over work wise. About going direct to the BofE, yep that's what I thought you guys would say, I was aware of the clause in the Interac contract which was what pricked my curiosity about it. I also have been told that the BofE pay Interac in the vicinity of 500,000yen/month per teacher, Interac swiping over half of that for themselves... per month! I have heaps of experience teaching, I might try my local schools BofE and see what happens, but I suspect thats a very well trodden path and I may have not only missed the boat, but missed the decomissioning of it as well... lol Adam thats true about the status of the English teaching industry, just nosing around Osaka recently has come up with very few good opportunities for an older jaded fool like myself... seems sub-25 year old professional kids birthday party clown is whats required What I did find surprising is that more people than ever want to come to Japan to live and work! Yep things aren't what they used to be. Oh also what Adam said about the dodgy business of the dispatch companies, it seems that the majority of public schools are going down that path to source teachers "because it's more convenient", ie: they don't want the hassle of resolving probs/have potential contract breaking senario to deal with. I don't really want to be seen as supporting a parasitic company who offer negligable services for what is a crazy amount of money.
  19. I or someone I know may or may not have an interview with Interac Seriously though what are peoples thoughts? I've done heaps of research already but you've got to take every word with a pinch of salt... it seems a lot of the people who've had bad experiences generally expect either the Board of Education or Interac to side with them if a dispute arises (dpending on who its with), not knowing that it's Interac who have about 5 people waiting to take you're place if you can't handle it lol. Also the level of help from Interac depends entirely on your experience in Japan, basically if you're experienced you get none I've heard JETs actually join Interac to get better holidays despite the lower pay... this I find hard to believe but apparently it's happened. Thoughts?

  22. This probably isn't so weird because it involves manga/anime otaku, but I'll give it a shot. I live on Port Island which is a man made island with lots of cargo ship facilities and residential/commercial mixed in. Anyway, the Kobe international conference hall is on Port Island and once a year they hold some Anime festival which attracts weirdos from all over. (I walk past the place to get to the supermarket so every Sunday I get to see what events are held there.) As per usual theres about 1,000 geeks dressed up in their costumes with an army of photographers taking pics at random. About 99% of the photographers were well behaved but as I go to walk on the overpass there's this guy with a video camera kneeling behind this chick with the camera right up her skirt! Like, the camera was only just visible under the maids uniform lacey skirt thing. The girl is just standing there with a "ho-hum" look on her face while this sicko is filming. I stopped and looked directly at her but she wouldn't make eye contact. The guy was oblivious to everything and kept it going for another 30 seconds or so. She just sort of reluctantly let the guy do as he pleased... wtf. With that I thought "F**k this" and went off to buy the groceries.

Nabari -> typo... glad you could figure it out I thought so too, I just thought the chances of getting a taxi where much greater from Nabari... it's up to you. My car only fits 4 including driver. Sould've asked how big your party was Sounds like you know the way the PT system works, so there's no problem with that then? Just get to whichever station you think is easiest (Muroguchi etc) and hail a taxi. Whether there are taxis there or not is another thing entirely... I'm sure the front desk at the hotel could help you out.

Ok I'm not the resident Osaka drift specialist, but I may be able to help (not that it's recommended). Where are you staying? Because you're going to have to take the Kintetsu Osaka line from Tsuruhashi Station. Tsuruhashi is on the Osaka loop line so it's easily accessable. So Umeda (loop line) -> Tsuruhashi (go to Kintetsu Osaka line platform) -> Nabori Station. Now, as far as I know Nabori Station is closest to Meihan Sportsland, but it's waaaay in the country and you'll have to get a bus or cab to the circuit. I have no idea about the bus, but it's slow travel on tiny country roads out there from what I remember around Nabori. Ok, having said all that, you could twist my arm and get me to drive you out there Bear in mind gas costs a metric ****load and theres tolls to pay too. So bottom line is, pay a fair bit to go by car but get there and leave at your leisure/not worry about the time or, save money but waste time/risk losing your way on PT.
