HOLY SH!T... where'd you get that purple one???? Looks like one of those really deep sea ones that glow... you can see right through them.But anyways, here in Ashiya, it's without a doubt DOGS. DOGS are EVERYWHERE. They poop EVERYWHERE. Pedigree C0ckaspaniards, Golden retreevers, Poobles (shaved really wierd), Rottenwielers... you name it. But of course Ashiya is a well to do area, so the people here can afford larger places with small backyards for the dogs... Dogs are much more common in the country.

Yeah, I had a plate of thinly sliced Kobe beef which set us back about 10,000 yen just for the plate! But damn... smother those slices in salt and butter... best sliced beef I've ever had, but that was it, sliced beef and beer... *edit* - the beef was grilled over an open flameLike this:

What about Family restaurants guys? Troy and I usually go to "Royal Host", "Bamiyan" (Chinese and *really* good), "Big Boy" and "Kobeya" (probably the best one). They're not cheap, meals are usually between 1,000 and 1,700 yen but you can have a good feed with side dishes and what not.

MOS Cheese Burgers are the best: Couple a buns, a beef patty, a thick slice o tamato, a "slice" of melted mild cheese (looks more like mayonaise by the time you eat it) and MOS secret sauce... in fact if it wasn't for the secret sauce MOS would be very ordinary IMO. Their hotdogs aren't bad either.

Yes, this is what I was told too... in fact the school I work for has had many an ex-Nova teacher pass through with them all complaining about how tight they are, not only with class allocations/locations, but with teacher student interraction out of class or lack of! About 30% of our student base are ex-Nova, all complaining of strict classes and low on the fun factor... which is why they join our school - the complete opposite. Hell even our schools owner is ex-Nova!I a nutshell, Nova doesn't have a good reputation with teachers OR students in my experience and Nova seem to be doing business strictly on the fact they they are the biggest and most widely known school... the "corporate" tag also helps with the image too I guess. I'd last 2 minutes in Nova before being sacked wouldn't I Troy?

Chicken is BIG here, chicken nuggets (about the only way I can describe "Do-mo kun" - a burnt chicken nugget) chicken katsu sand, fried chiken at the konbini (not recommended) chiken ramen (kids fav) etc, etc But getting back on topic, McDonalds just finished selling the "Tsukimi Burger" (Tsuki = moon, mi = see) a couple of weeks ago, basically two buns with and egg and sauce etc... supposed to look like the moon. An only in Japan menu item I think...
