My Grand Plan For Decent Driver Training In Sa
RubyRS4 replied to Iron Chef's topic in South Australia
+1 all the way. I've had many near misses and only managed to "be in control" of the situation from advanced training in both cars and bikes. Especially having been a keen racer and knowing how quickly things can go wrong @ 200kph ... or even @ 100kph ... within the blink of an eye if that! Advanced training, track days, even racing, helps to hone your alertness and response in an emergency. Everything you've said Kristian is 100% ... do it. -
Almost forgot about the Unichip. Might get that done to my Stagea! Local mob in Adelaide, Turbo Tune, that does them.
-
Who'd like to help me fit the roof sheeting to my house extension? Serious question! I've been on the extension all day fitting the purlins and double checking the tension ... and I've had a gut full already! Reckon I've been up and down that f**king ladder over 100 times today!
-
You're clearly bored Troy Krishy, what did I tell you about calling out my name while caressing your woman. Its embarrassing man!
-
Damn, if I could of stayed longer, I'd have cranked Linkin Park all night and not that Grease shit.
-
I was out last night in the Stagea. Saw one cop the entire time. "Paranoia ... amped and wired!" [Anthrax: Persistence of Time]
-
Of course not. Didn't you know clubs get established by people sitting around twiddling their thumbs ... and no one taking charge to get it moving. I want to approach certain people to see if they want to get involved. There are people I believe have certain qualities for certain roles. Then it gets put to a vote. All will be discussed at the BBQ.
-
Anyone who wants to come to the bbq PM me or Kell. I'll get onto Kell today and we'll notify you of the location for the BBQ as the PMs come in. Keep in mind its Easter and I've got family to catch up with tho. I already have in mind the people I'd like on the committee to build this thing up, people who I see as fit for the job, but want to run this past a few others first. Any further comments in this thread will not be taken seriously, unless they're constructive. We already have a direction in which to run this thing, but valuable tips are welcome. This club will not be based on promises either. You're either going to join the SAU SA club, or you're not. There is no in-between. This is work in progress people! Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a determined bastard To all you disbelievers who reckon this is destined to fail ... you ain't seen nothing yet.

Don't think he's aware Sinful is a "she"

You're generalising now about people making generalisations Most italians I've met get their cars out regularly. I read the above and had to have a laugh about Kingswood Country.

Thanks for the input Shaun ... and good luck with the wedding! We might endeavour to pick your brain (and Jess's) if we need some unsolved questions answered or guidance.
-
Troy/Jess, Lets keep it peaceful. I see the point from both sides. Jess, PM sent trying to explain things a little better. No one will be outcasted based on car ownership. Remember, we're still shaping things as we go. I know its alot for me and Kell, but we do have help, and its nothing compared to what I do everyday at work I see so much potential for a club even now ... SAU members helping other SAU members with fitting brakes etc. Thats what a club is all about. This is the type of enthusiasm I want to promote more within the club.
-
Yeah, we've thought about it already. There is too much speculation going on here right now. We are to be a club for Skyline and Stagea enthusiasts, not just owners! How about the speculation stops and everybody with an interest in the club come to the BBQ. ... but not you Jess, for the obvious reason I am working on a system to be in place that encourages enthusiasts, not just owners. If you're a Mazda driver, but get involved in events/meetings for the club, then you'll be held in higher regard than a Skyline owner who never contributes. Simple. Non-contributing members will not be deemed enthusiasts ... Contributing members will be deemed enthusiasts. Memberships will be based on that system.
-
You're way off the mark there champ. You have no idea. You have no idea what was discussed at the meeting, nor my (or anyone else's) intentions for the club. You were never at the table either when Nene, Ben and I meet with SAPOL for SAU's benefit. My attitude is far from selfish, when I've done so much for SAU. And I'm still here despite the bashing I get from members like you and Rhys. I'm taking the hardline to get this club off the ground. Too many SAU SA attempts have been knocked down by keyboard warriors, and people who just don't want to believe. Kell and I are working hard and if we chose to be ruthless to get the club running successfully (whatever it takes) then we do it for the interest of an SAU SA club, not in your view of an "ideal" club, nor because we are "selfish". "Selfish"? Hardly.

Road registerable/worthy much?
-
My thoughts too Steve ... that or its someone who knows I've blocked them, as I have no interest in anything he has to say. I do like that. I'll put that on the list of options. Subject to public opinion at the bbq (not here) of course.
-
We understand that. At the moment, it is being discussed to limit the club to enthusiasts (not necessarily owners) of RB powered Skylines and Stageas. If we open the door to ANY Nissan import it gets too complex. We must draw the line somewhere. And you're level of "Skyline and Stagea enthusiast" will be recognised by the club. This is a structure I am currently nutting out for the club. We have a whole range of ideas for the club (such as support getting members off defects) that will be limited to enthusiasts, not simply owners of Skylines or Stageas. But we don't want a name decided by people who will never join. We will take down suggestions for new ideas and preferences for names at the BBQ, and discuss this (and other things) at our next meeting. There will be a membership fee and that is being worked out by myself and the 'club organising committe' in the interim. More will be discussed at the BBQ gathering. I've said enough for now and don't feel like repeating myself. ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT THE BBQ GATHERING ON THE 25TH APRIL PM KELL FOR DETAILS.
-
Troy, We're still toying with a fit for the name ... amongst many other things. We want links to SAU obviously, but we also want a fresh name that will be "catchy", good or bad. I have proposed to Kell we run with various options to be presented at the BBQ. And yes something like SAU-SA StagLines Club will be presented as an option. PM me or Kell to discuss this ... as I believe this attempt will yet be shot down by whingers, so I've requested this thread gets locked for the time being. Bottom line is ... do you want a club full of sooks and compromises, or a club that gets the job done for enthusiasts?
-
The club is this being pieced together, structured and fine tuned. We cannot and will not cater for everyone's opinion on how it is to be done. We will structure this as we see best fit for Skyline and Stagea enthusiasts. I put a big emphasis on the word "enthusiast". We are not catering for our personal agendas, and we are not catering for your personal agendas. The anti-SAU-SA curse will not stop us this time. If you want your say, come to the bbq lunch Kell posted. This is the chance to start up a club for Skyline and Stagea enthusiasts, not sooks. Don't like it, don't join. Sled, Andrew or Luke, can we have this thread locked now (I'm sure Kell will agree) and a new thread will be posted after this BBQ on the 25th.
-
And again SAU is trying to shoot down something good. It was said we are still fine tuning things. Quick, pick up your guns and blast away! Why does a Silvia owner have to affiliate with Skylines? I'll spell it out for you guys who can't understand one last time ... A Stagea is a Skyline wagon. Deal with it. As the organisers of getting this club up and running, its our decision. Our goals, not yours. Start your own club if you're so negative about Stageas. The aim of the club is to gather members who are enthusiasts of Skylines and Stageas ... we do not aim to gather keyboard warriors, non-attendees, flamers, nor people who just want a club sticker for their car. You all had a chance at giving your input at the meeting last night, but chose not to. Granted, some could not make it for genuine reasons. Another opportunity lies with the date of the bbq. Enuf said.

Awesome! I'm on it!
