  1. Yeah, I've been subjected to the dreaded wire brush. Its alot better than infection. Had it done to my knee, shoulder and hip. Tip: your kneecap is not a good brake! If you ever want to see my scars and xrays, sing out, they're kringe worthy. Or I can tell you the story about how a motorbike pinning you to the gutter shatters your shoulder ... that one took 9 months to recover from But I consider myself lucky ... unlike some poor souls. People still wonder why I keep riding. I just love it ... always loved bikes.
  2. Funny you mention blind spots. Thats one of the first things I like to point out to newer riders. I always position myself in the opposing lane so that I can see the driver thru his own mirror ... means he can see me. I still recall some years ago when my brother (inexperienced) and I were riding in a group, and he was in a car's blind spot. Naturally, the car didn't see him and changed lanes. My brother sounded his horn and the car shot back to its intial lane, and my bro decided to take it further by riding next to the car and abusing them. I quickly rode up to my bro and slapped him on the back of the helmet. At the next lights, I told my brother he was in the car's blind spot and he should position himself better. Thankfully he doesn't ride anymore ... he just didn't have that alertness or skill. Comes to my next comment: I have a loud exhaust, and my riding manner on my sportsbike can sometimes be frowned upon, but there is method behind my madness. I'll speed up next to a car to a point where the driver is aware I am there, and thats where I'll stay until we either catch up to slower traffic, or they turn off etc. Then as I approach the next car, I'll give it some quick speed so the bike is audible and the car can visually see me. Same deal with single lane roads. If I have doubts about the car in front, or they driving like an idiot, I'll put some distance between me and him/her. Sometimes, people see this as 'typical biker hoon behaviour', but not so. I've been riding some 22 years. Lost countless biker friends. Been in hospital numerous times myself. Built bikes, raced bikes and crashed them too. Encountered the biggest stupidity on our roads ... and generally seen it all. I ride in a manner to stay alive and continue to enjoy what I love best ... bikes. If I upset a few tin can drivers witht he way I ride ... I don't care as long as I come home to my family. I can't sum it all up in this forum, but I've developed a repetoir of defensive riding techniques over the years that work for me. If you ride and want to learn a few things, come ride with me sometime.
  3. They look porn on a Stagea tho
  4. I don't think that damage was related to the biker accident. I think the media focused on that to put suspicion into Joe Public's mind. Far as I'm being told, the skyline merged (possibly erratically) and the rider swerved to avoid. But no contact was made. Being a biker myself (22 years) I can understand that an inexperienced rider would panic, then swerve and brake at the same time. You don't swerve and brake at the same time in the wet. Sadly.
  5. "Quick ... lets be all dramatic now, and get our facts straight later!" Love Adelaide media. Waiting for the news to get their take on it. Apparently the driver has been arrested. Apparently.
  6. The story is a little confusing. They're saying he probably wasn't aware it happened but the report also says he was driving erratic before the accident. And which is it? Silver or maroon? Not like they're similar colours. In any case, hope the driver IS aware later that its him, and he hands himself in. Feel sorry for the family of bike rider tho ... hope its not someone I know.
  7. I agree. I see stupidity and impatience all the time, especially when I ride. Had cars cut me off before, and then give me the finger as if I'm the one in the wrong. Its easier to say "f**k you" than to admit you made a driving error. Well the reputation of skyline drivers just keeps getting better and better. For the love of God ... slow down guys.
  8. Jenna, I've got a mate how's a great sparky. I can PM you his number if you wish.
  9. I am in awe of his skills Grasshopper needs to lay off the crystal meth.
  10. You changing jobs? Seeking a career as a hairdresser?
  11. You sure you should do that. Pete wants to keep it in immaculate condition ... or at least thats the impression I get from the granny-spec driving he does in it (ooo I can feel the ban stick coming)
  12. Hmm, poor eyesight will limit his ability to ride the Sled. Best he leave it parked in my garage for a while
  13. To clear things up fellas, there were certain SAU-SA members in the "tunnel drag race". The SAU-SA committee (including myself as Club Secretary) has discussed disciplinary action, and action has been taken. I am also the founder of this club, and we've put alot of hard work into this over the last 2 years or so, and its quite disappointing that such an act was filmed then hosted where the media could get a hold of it. The media and police scan these forums constantly, so please be aware of that when filming or even just discussing anything. Our dyno day this saturday has been cancelled thanks to the fallout from this. There has been alot of discussion about it in the SA forums, but you've no idea the damage control and calls with SAPOL we've been doing to sort this out and keep the club's reputation.
  14. Drug money dry up Lukey?
  15. Yeah I was happy. Taking my time and making sure I had the right supporting mods in place paid off for slightly bigger numbers. You going to the SAU-SA club dyno day next sunday? My stagea will be ont he rollers to see if she can repeat her 250+ dyno run. That sucks big time Brendan. f**king low life bastards. What do you mean by "vandalised", just graffiti, or dents and scratches etc too. PM me if you want.
  16. Hell no. PM sent. You want 400hp, take note below. I've had stock turbo, high flow, HKS 2530, and now Garrett 3076 ... and I say don't mess about and do straight to the 3076. The 2530 will run out of breath. Always found myself wanting to grab the next gear, before anywhere near the redline, because the turbo was running out of breath. My 3076 just keeps pulling and pulling thru the revs. You WILL NOT be disappointed with the 3076. 2530 will not get you big HP, the 3076 will. Invest your money in a new 3076, rather than second hand (unknown condition) 2530. There are a fair few Z32 AFMs getting around now on SAU and Ebay for the $100 mark. And I also picked up a new set of 555cc injectors for Neo motor for under $600 ... I can give you the details of the bloke who got them for me. Together with a Nistune (or other aftermarket ecu) you can chase big power (depending on your exhaust and other mods of course). So all up $2700 got me 252rwkw, or 338hp at the wheels ... thats like $8 per hp. My tuner finished off my tune on thursday actually, and I'm getting 252.6rwkw @ 16psi. Tuner wanted to go to 18psi as he reckoned 280rwkw was easily attainable with a bit more time ... thats 375rwhp, so not far from your target power! I'm told my 3076 can go to and hold 22psi ... thats around the 320rwkw mark ... thats 428rwhp in the old language. Get a new (under warranty) 3076. Enuff said
  17. Some items sold. List updated. For those who have asked, AFM has numbers: 22680 31U00 - A36-608
  18. Bugger ... crap ... f**k ... shit ... dammit ... Alright, disregard this thread. I'll kickstart another with a poll for you difficult bastards! Yeah, AFM issues sorted. Stagea was back on the dyno yesterday for a retune ... ended up very happy with 252.6rwkw @ 16psi (rwd dyno). Front shaft is back in now. Stagea is very different now with good oomph and great delivery of power.
  19. I have the new stickers ... and I'll bring them with me
  20. Righto lads! Stagea Cruise on the Sunday 19th June 2011. Meet from 9.30am for 10am departure. Meet points (yep, theres two) to be advised and route to be advised on the day. However, I can telly ou that I will have 2 meet points organised: one to cater for the southies, and one to cater for the northies. Both groups will meet at a central (close to city) location for half hour stop for photos, and handout of directions. We got 20 cars for the last cruise ... but the previous record from over 2 years ago is 25!!! Lets try to get 30 stags out for this. Put this date into your diary! Please indicate if you will be coming, so I can get messages out for the meeting point and rough route for cruise. Robbie, I'll PM you to give me a hand with the southern group and I'll tackle the northern group until we meet up.
  21. Try removing the turbo with dump pipe attached, by undoing the 4 nuts holding it to the exhaust manifold. Undo all your lines etc. Its a pita but you'll have it off quicker than f**king about with tight bolts on the dump. Once off you can then separate the dump and replace the seized bolts. Chances are, you'll need the turbo off anyway to rebuild. I do this to my turbo when I want the dump off, because its a bellmouth pipe with bugger all room to remove whilst the turbo is on the car
  22. Yeah, bailed because my air/fuel ratios were not very friendly. Got her tuned today and its more than sorted. Very happy with the outcome. Next cruise for sure I'll have no excuses
  23. Yeah, that extra 2rwkw is going to smoke you! Yeah sorry about that. It is rwkw, not awkw. I've been quoting incorrectly unintentionally ... stupid
  24. Free revving because there is no load on the engine to make boost. Yeah, remove the dump.
  25. If you've got no boost (power) and all it does is smoke, then I truly believe you've blown the turbo. If it was a blown cooler pipe, your car wouldn't run ... barely idle. I say pull the dump pipe off and look for a missing turbine wheel.
