Skyline Bnr34 1999 rb26dett, what turbo?
pnblight replied to SkylineBnr34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hks gt2835r kit available from nengun for about $9000au delivered, theres a drag car in ozzy running about 9.45sec 1/4mile (john munro) this kit will still give you a good balance but your got to be thinking about a whole range of upgrades to acommadate this sort of power : manage ecu gearbox clutch (multiplate) fuel system (from tank to manifold) forged internals high volume oil pump cams (most likely large which will require head mods and new spring etc) metal head gasket oil cooler custom sump 9 litre with baffles intercooler and piping custom radiator well there some dollars in there but it would be an awesome ride 9sec street car -
1)sound like something isnt working properly 02 sensor or closed loop control etc as my 500hp gtr cruise can still get something like 11lt/100kms or there abouts
-
there is one thing your missing Graham bell explain it better than me in Forced induction , its a fact they discovered then forgot and discovered again , i will try my best to explain in my terms The clearer the exhaust pulse signal ,the more efficient the turbo will spool (by thing less cylinder per turbo more efficient) this is not an ideal i made up but a stated fact from published documentation as Graham Bell talks about in his book and i believe this is why all top level turbocharged car were twin turbo and why F1 never used single turbo configuration. Please just passing on what i have read for on the subject

i would think around one bar or so like 7heaven said you will soon know when you put it on the dyno and i would surgest you dont fit new turbos with out a dyno tune to check a/f ratios (as mine had problems at low throddle settings and needed a safc2 ) your next step will give you big gains ,but do it once ,and do it properly thats if you choice to as long as you have good turbo back exhaust and descent induction system 700cc injectors Apexi pfc rb20/25afm or z32 afms well with this you can turn it up and the gains will blow you away 1.3bar should give 400rwhp (easily)and still be a reliable everyday driver and not worry the std internals this is only my opinion cheers
-
7heaven is spot on the mark 90%plus of your driving will be at lowish speed(below110) and lowish revs, general driving so its nice have a car that is a pleasure to drive normally, as well as a monster when you leen on it. Go twin r34 N1 or hks2530 you'll never regret it

GT-RS or high flow?? opinions??
pnblight replied to SouthernR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i sore a thread talking about the GT3071R which had been compares to the GTRS ,and had better responce than the GTRS ,has anyone tried one of these or know someone running one of these -
Isn't this thread not from wa Tittle
-
wot a waste , does anyone know how they manage to do this ie high speed cornering ,drifting etc And in a residential area ,its just plain stupid yeah trees are strong alright and can cut cars up like a knife through butter with enough speed
-
CHEERS I'll look into it and see if there compatable (as they have to be spot 4.375 from memory frt and rear) Might save me a lot of heart ache
-
i can asure you if you make 300 at 2 you will not 300 at 4 there are loses ,the size of which are debatiable ,so i'll leave % to someone who works with dyno every day to lightin us .I think alot of the problem is when we talk in different figures (RWHP to AWKW)
-
well if you did your figures you would realise as myself and 600hp there is no where 90hp between us i figure is in 2wd and the other in 4 wd one in kw the other inhp 529rwhp=394rwkw - 44kw or something for the rw to awd figure and well we end up with 350AWKW compared to 332AWKW so do you figure correctly before opening your mouth (and the 18kw (is a it different to 90hp) or so is most likely due to the turbo size different) what you think of this convertion 600hp sound close even mario said the gt-ss is capable of 350awkw so why would garret be the same

powerc tune - are these results safe/ok ?
pnblight replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You need big injectors ( a pump and reg can help get a bit more out off injectors but its like a band aid solution ,injector are quiet cheap my 700cc sard were $115ea) and you may need pump to go with it depending on how far you want to go and the std system in place ablilties (is this gtr,gts or something else) plus i would think you would be very close to afms maxing out ,if your maxing injectors and i would recomend doing a peak hold next time you give it a good boot full to see how high the afms volts are going. Upgrade for gtr are the rb20/25 80mm afms at about 150ea second hand and the gts is the Z32 80mm afm that can be bought through Repco (std bosch part)with plug I guess for around $400 dollars(i got cheaper but a friend worked there) hope this help -
i know a good dyno tuning shop HYPERDRIVE i know they can do wolf 3d, just not that many people like to play with WOLF tho , talk to lumpy or gtrken

powerc tune - are these results safe/ok ?
pnblight replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
afm are right up that (5.134 v i think is max) so your like 98% of fsd 92% injector ok but again quiet high (most people like under 90%) knock not a problem (even 30 or so is fine normally background noise) i believe 40 to 50 onwards is where you should start to worry only my opinion be careful shouldn't be a problem but look to upgrade down the road tho -
i got front diff just need rear
-
ha guys i mate of mine REP003 is installing a rb26 in his 4door gts and has the std turbos fitted with s15 ex housings and wheels with gtr centre i think ,which had to have studs fit also i believe sounded pretty wild to me but should be interesting to see how well they work i will have get more detail off him, as only going off memory. And he believes he can use the s15 dump pipes (stainless separated unit) the reason he did this i believe is to do away with the ceramic wheels
-
the car charactorist sound very similar mine 4000 to 5000 is just breath taking you dont like the greddy plenum as they are well prices and i believe not to hard to get
-
N1(ball bearing) are a top turbo and as long as you got the system upgrade around them you should make 300rwkw with out to much trouble just be care with the injector normal 700cc are the go but 550cc will still make good power best of luck ps how are you enjoying the turbo change on the 32 (pain in the arse) hehe
-
i would have to go to a different dyno and just for that sake i cant see it being worth it ,plus unfortunate some of the dynos here are hub dynos which dont read any like normal as there is none of the loses associated with run wheels etc but in my opinion i think there only maybe 30 kw between us at a guess and thats all it is and considering the turbos (mine slightly bigger) sounds pretty good to me (as in close) can i ask did you guys tune the cams much out of interest ,you can pm the answer as i dont want to bring this arguement in to this thread (i'm just interested)(as we were surprised as much as everyone else with my setting) CHEERS you most be counting the days till you get to the track or strip yeah lol
-
ha 600hp was just think through in my head what awkw to rwhp would be i dont think there alot been us ,as you would exspect from similar turbos and boost 332awkw=443awhp the next is abit of a guess ~485to495rwhp does seem about right as if it is it good to see the tomei cams and turbos work very similar `30odd hp different and only 1psi difference betwwen us ,so i wounder why in the west this would seem totaly unbelievable but in the east normal ,i think some guys need to do the sums and realise the number are just number and the difference are small GREAT WORK MATE stick with it ,and i'm glad to sight see someone walk a different path to the norm as if we didnt what would we learn.
-
Yep you dead on it thats the best way to do it ,but its not always posible of everyone if you do manage to find jun plenum could you post a pic as havent seen a good pic of the jun unit as i'm thinking of upgrade mine or building custom unit cheers best of luck with the gt-ss
-
yes it was rwhp and me to ,looking forward to the next trip to the strip but i want to do it when the cars is ready and not rush back before cos of some stupid comments from no drainer look must be looking forward to get to the strip and track i must say yours is one of the most complete packages i seen done good work, i wish i could just finish mine off but its bit by bit as the $$ allows hehehe
-
ha i'm glad your thread has been left alone by so of the half wits getting around on this forum cos it good to see a guy willing to share information openly and willingly cos i believe thats what this forum is all about good work and good luck ,hope to hear how it all goes in the future pete ps so that all made sense as i know i'm not the best at describing such things as drag launching
