  1. Fair enough, but I think you are also missing my point - That your car, although quick, would be quicker again by replacing the stock intercooler! I respect your goal, but I don't see any sense in keeping the stock cooler. As for bigger isn't better when it comes to intercoolers - why not. The whole idea of a intercooler is to exchange heat produced by compressing the air - a bigger intercooler will have less pressure drop and more ability to exchange heat - simple. As for drivabilty, I didn't notice any increase in lag or decrease in torque when I put mine on, just more power Chris
  2. What about this then- Stock 33 intercooler to get 14psi at intake manifold you will have 20psi before intercooler, runnning the turbo out of its efficiency range. My mate went front 14psi with stock intercooler and 140rwkw to 175 rwkw with a aftermarket front mount intercooler and 10psi boost!!!!!!!. You guys thinking that stock intercooler are these fantastic things are only kidding yourself. They are crap, absolute crap! Not to mention that after about 5mins of decent driving will have it heatsoaked beyond belief STOCK INTERCOOLERS ARE RUBBISH - whats next, I suppose everyone will start to rave about how you only need a decent exhaust once you are over 200rwkw!
  3. On the DBA website they state that 33GTS25T rotors are 296x30, and R32 GTR rotors as 296x32. They don't have a listing for a R34GTT yet, but I would say they must be differant from the 33 otherwise they would have them listed. The rears are the same though. What about fitting R33 GTS25T calipers with 32 GTR rotors? its only a 2mm differance in thickness so I reckon they might fit? I spoke to Grant form Jap Import Dismantlers a week or so ago about the brakes on his car, as he put 32 GTR brakes on the front and rear, from memory he used new R33 rotors in the GTR calipers, and GTR calipers and discs on the back. He reckons I should get 33GTS25T rotors for my car, which he says will fit in the stock 32 caliper. If you could get away with this, thats the way I would go Their number is 8266 0212, tell him Chris sent you, he'll give you a good deal I think Four Brothers Imports had about 4 32 GTR front cuts, might be worth a look?
  4. yeah, but there is always exceptions to that rule It also depends on what your definition of better is
  5. Would still be better than stock Stock is shit!
  6. Mel, if you need a set of 32 gtst rims to borrow with new tyres on let me know - I have some sitting in my shed. I also had a airbox which you could have used as well! I am told 33GTS25t disks will fit into stock 32 calipers, and they are from memory about the size that you require Chris
  7. I never dyno'd it with the stock cooler, but I reckon it was around 120rwkw. As I said before, with the 7MGTE Supra cooler it made 143rwkw, and with a proper custom job it made 153rwkw. All with no change to the stock boost. Currently its making 198rwkw with a HKSGT2510 and a re-mapped computer and decent intercooler. I'd recommend a bigger intercooler to any one with a stock cooler, the amount of extra grunt thats lost through the stock cooler is a joke, and retaining it is also a joke - bigger is better!
  8. Why buy a performance car if you are concerned about fuel economy? I reckon that any of those cars will be similar cost wise to maintain, same with the insurance Go the R - so much more potential
  9. Mine was 143rwkw with Trust element in the stock airbox, HKS Super Drager cat back exhaust and Supra front mount cooler, stock boost. With a pod filter, front pipe, custom FMIC it made 153rwkw at stock boost Chris
  10. Mine I ran - engine to filter, filter to cooler, cooler to engine. I was told this is the best way to do it. As for particles of steel going into the engine, it is vitally important that you get all of that shit out of the hoses before any attempt of installation is attempted - the element in your oil filter is only paper, and a small bit of steel at 40 odd psi of oil pressure will go straight through it and around your engine until it lodges in a bearing somewere. Flush all of the hoses out, and give them a blast with compressed air to dislodge any shit. Take your time, and it should work out well. Also I was told to keep your oil level a little bit higher as well, once the cooler etc is full of oil
  11. Sounds like everyone learnt something, even if no one met their expectations it also sounds like everyone is having clutch problems - not good! I guess at least there is a month to sort out the problems until next time. On another note, I saw a White R32 GTST with a Power FC being tuned at Morpowa on the weekend, I think the guy has posted a few things on the forums, but I can't remember his name? Interesting though, as I thought that they never made one for a 32 GTST? Chris
  12. could be a sick fuel pump or dirty (filthy) fuel filter
  13. Put 3/4 of a tank of BP Ultimate in, is definatley (heaps) better than the fuel that was in there. Much smoother, and couldn't hear any detonation during some 'test' runs up thru the hills (did the same run as when i thought it detonated a few times) Is definatley smoother mid to top end, and doesn't have as much shit come blasting out of the exhaust. Does tend to pop a bit under decel. but I can live with that Might try it with a bit of toluene in it, but I will wait and see roll on Autumn - I can't wait for some cool but dry weather:D chris
  14. Nah, no run about, but I could use it in my 3 wheel dirt bike!! Can't be stuffed with the siphon, maybe I should just take the cap of and park it in victoria sq for a hour (i shouldn't have said that!!) will try the bp stuff next
  15. Ok, seems everyone has had good results with the BP stuff, I think I will try that next time I have to fill up 4door_sleeper, octane booster does a good job of fouling platinum plugs, so for now its just running stock boost
  16. Well thats what I have been using (synergy) for about a year now, with no problems apart from the tank full I have now. I might give it a light run on the way home tonight and listen out for anything, other than draining it, maybe a bit of octane booster will help until I fill it up again. I am curious about everyone else's response's, as I always thought that the BP stuff was lesser quality than the mobil stuff. Maybe shell should pull its finger out and give us SA people optimax!
  17. Hi all, just thought I'd ask this question to see what fuel everyone is using locally and if they have had any bad experience with certain brands/outlets? The reason being is that i think I have a dud tank of fuel in my car, as I reckon I heard a bit of detonation whilst going for a quick blast through the hills on sunday arvo. It wasn't hot (22-24deg inlet temps) but in 3rd gear @5000 rpm I heard something and got of the gas straight away, and haven't given it any since then, as I still have 3/4 of a tank of this stuff in it! The servo in question is Mobil, Nth East rd, St Agnes, 98 octane premium. I have never had a problem before, but I want to know if anyone else has had any drama with any particular outlets? Chris
  18. Well done John, good to see some of your goals achieved, and a new record for a hour or so Congrats to Kier as well for setting the bar even higher! A great day - even if I missed the last bit due to a wedding! Chris
  19. I heard on the same cruise a dude in a supra had a head on with a excel just as you enter the hills on nth east road (right near my house)? any one see this? Image the next time cops see late model cars cruising these dudes have not done anyone favours by crashing on a big oragnized cruise
  20. Geez Clint, it sounds like you are serious about this drag stuff!!!!!!! 12's should be a doodle, just might take a few go's might be there to watch, if so i'll catch up with you:burnout:
  21. OK, the ones I'am after are quite big. And expensive!
  22. Duncan, were they big ones, or small models? were they 32's
