LOL - mines is only 450kgd heavier than that! Slgihtly off topic but I saw "Love the Beast" today. Awesome - although my Mrs did start crying when they showed highlights of a few big stacks. The movie does make us all look a touch insane but it really was a great watch with some top footage from Tassie.

Got an update today. They are still hoping for the first batch of cars to be ready for delivery on April 1st BUT the cars still haven't left Japan (infact aren't even at the wharf yet) so it isn't conclusive they will be here for that date. I know Nissan FG (vic) have 7 cars coming in this first shipment. The second batch at this stage isn't due until after July 1st which means only these first cars coming in April will be at the originally quoted price. I saw the workshop for the R35's at FG too. Looks pretty nice and is only for use for R35's (was seperate to the rest of the workshop). Nice in pit hoist, freshly done floors and walls and all new equipment so they have spent some $$$ gearing up for it. However - I did see the newly done disclaimer for these cars. Gone is the original 5 page one which has now been replaced by an 11 page one. This thing is much more in-depth on what will void warranty (pretty much everything) but even goes as far as listing specific things such as "boost increases over 10psi will void warranty on turbo's, and a/f ratio's above 12.0 will void warranty on engines". etc. Still I care for none of that right now. I'm just impatient for these new few weeks to pass and the car finally get here!

Unfortunately I don't think there will be track warranty. I saw the revised disclaimer today which has gone from the original 5 page one to a new 11 page one and on it was distinctly mentioned no warranty when driving on "race tracks, air strips, skidpans" and other non road speed locations.

I'm far from an expert (since I haven't even finished a timed stage yet) BUT for me in the short time I have been playing, when the corners are closely linked (which is when the notes are most important IMO - other than the DANGER DANGER DANGER bits as James likes to say. LOL) but when they are closely linked I find the most important bit of info is which direction the next corner is so I know whether to exit wide or keep in. So if I'm only listening to the 1st bit then I'd prefer the direction at that point. But as I said I'm still learning so maybe that will change in time.

And I just spoke to PWR and they STILL HAVEN'T DONE MY RADIATOR!!! *sigh*

Yeah we got a bed. Unfortunately Dan and I have to share it. And with another 2 guys - so pillow space will be at a premium, but we are told this is an accepted common practise down in Tassie so it will have to do. It's not ideal obviously - but at least now I've learnt for the future BOOK WELL AHEAD!

So the commo is coming back? -
Daniel and I will be there in Car 128 for the first couple of days. We'll be taking it one stage at a time. Target 1 - finish a timed stage. Everything after that is a bonus I'm hoping PWR get their stuff sorted and I can have a test run at Sandown next week to find out if all the problems we discovered at TWP are sorted. If that all goes well the only thing I'll have left to do is to fix the scar on the front bar where the tow hook was ripped through at TWP.

Gt-r New Safety Car For V8 Supercars

That video kinda puts to sleep the idea that these things are a dolly to drive. That lap was hardly smooth and boring! -

He's come to hang out with the fast guys mate -
I already know it's going to suck big time around the cones! LOL

The over $120K rule (which is basically designed to make sure things like GT3's and R35's aren't competing against stock Commo's etc - which is fair enough). There's a points system which will determine which class people will go in. But I'm not too fussed as I'm just going this year for some fun. If I was taking it seriously I'd bring the blue car afterall.
-
We'll be doing Vic as well in the new car (but the rules will put us into Club Championship even though the car will be basically stock).

I'm presuming given his backers have pulled all cars out that he won't be there at all (Global Economic Down-Turn effect maybe?) -

Oh - looks like both HLCA cars are out for TT09. Shame really as I'd have liked to have seen how much the new fuel regs effected Glenney in the EVO, as they (EVO's) more than anyone seemed to struggle at TWP in Jan with the change. But that sure leaves the modern comp wide open now. -
Million Dollar Driver Challenge
Snowman replied to MissJuz's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
You know as rediculous as that sounds that may have been the only way something like this could work. But with the proviso that the guys paying the top $$$ got to choose when they drove (aka either with the newest car / tyres or if weather was a factor then when the weather was best). And obviously the people paying the least get the crappest conditions. OR - my other thoughts were to make sure everyone got an even go was that instead of using cars we could use a mono-rail! No tyre or weather conditions to worry about then. And all other competitors would have to ride in the mono-rail whilst each driver had a shot so weight was constant as well. It worked in Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook so why not here as well!!? What do we say? MONORAIL!!! -
It's not that big of a deal though. I was one of the people that asked about the Dunlops but it isn't like the Bridgestones are a BAD tyre. They just aren't as good as the Dunlops on a long track run from what I understand. But Tony Quinn did use the Bridgestones on Day 2 for Rally Tas and still managed to win and I also think you'd find over a single lap distance at most Aussie tracks there'd be bugger all difference between the two (but only time will tell). But other than for motorsport reasons there's no real benifit to the Dunlops over the Bridgestones and the reality is that shortly the Toyo's will be available and they should be better than both of them, so most motorsport guys will be opting for them anyways.
-
The thing is I'm not actually convinced the Dunops are any faster in the dry (Infact I reckon the RE55 SR2's might be a touch faster) - but the Dunlops are a LOT faster in the wet from what I've seen. Either that or I'm just completely rubbish in the wet. LOL
-
Yeah with SR standing for Seriously Rediculous in regards to price with the Dunlops. In 265/35/18's the prices I can get are: Bridgestone RE55 TT's - $300ea Bridgestone RE55 SR2's - $550ea Dunlop DZ03G R's - $655ea You can see why I wanted to know if I could use the genuine mediums. I could get 2 sets for less than a set of Dunlops.

Aren't all EVO drivers pansies anyways?

Care of GTR-Blog but this really raises questions as to why you would bother!? The Japanese press have finally got their hands on the production Nissan GT-R SpecV this week and they’re wasting no time in putting it through it’s paces on the circuit. Today we’ve learned that Best Motoring have had Tsukuba Circuit to themselves for the day as well as a SpecV GT-R. Put that together with tame racing driver Keiichi Tsuchiya and good weather and you’re set for an interesting afternoon. Sources close to Best Motoring have given us the SpecV’s time and instead of keeping you all waiting like we love to do we’ll give it to you straight… 1:02.4. Unfortunately this means it’s slower than both the 2009 and 2008 base GT-R at the same circuit in similar conditions. Here’s how the SpecV stacks up against the most recent base model GT-R taken from the current issue of Japanese mag Car Top: MY08 GT-R (JDM - December 2007 delivery): 1:01.888 MY09 GT-R (JDM): 1:01.343 SpecV GT-R: 1:02.4 On a short circuit like Tsukuba the times should be close together but the SpecV should be in front, it should be 1:00 flat. So this begs the question: What’s the deal? We’re really hanging out for the April edition of Best Motoring DVD to find out more. http://www.gtrblog.com/index.php/2009/02/2...t-laptim?blog=4

Dane - that is the TT's I'm talking about Can buy them now for $600 / pair. But I think unfortunately they aren't going to work at Targa and I don't do enough normal sprint days to justify getting them anyways.
-
They get the Dunlops standard now (the bridgestones became an option)
-
Right ok. Prob best sticking to the hards is what you are saying. It's just that I can get 265/35/18 RE55's TT's for $300ea! Thats a bargin! lol
-
Well remember for Targa I'm only doing Rookie (so 2 days - not 5). So I'm not worried about lasting the distance but I am worried about them being actually worse than the hards on the longer stages. My biggest worry is Day 2 where there are 3 stages with basically no touring (35km's with less than 5kms touring in the middle). But if they will get through a long run ok then they may be a good thing - especially if we get some wet.
