  1. just about back to the original thread topic, my fuel is too rich and then once it is leaned out a bit, will it give a better power result.. I know now that after a short time with new plugs you can feel the car getting more sluggish and it is not long before it wont rev much past 6000rpm without playing up.
  2. Accommodation or transportation are equally expensive and a pain in the arse, but that is my problem. I would also like to know "how rich" is too rich and how long before it can cause damage? I see it can even contaminate your oil if it is bad enough and that cant be good! It seems too lean or too rich causes problems, but rich seems to be preferred to lean
  3. Cold plug ,, they have run the same type since I had the car BCPR7ES , think it is a 0.8mm gap
  4. I think the motor is fine and once sorted it will be a very good all round DD , just frustrating Why would you want the same motor
  5. thats all I need new plugs in and will not be driving it until they have a look at what is going on using the info I give them and connecting to the ECU and adjusting the tune.
  6. Got them out, BLACK as, like black velvet , all of them
  7. haha, taking some photos tomorrow of the plugs, I will pop one on here , but they will be dry
  8. They have had 2 goes at it and it is still has a problem but they need more time to be able to go over it properly for the other problems as well as the tune . Just dropped the car off to change the plugs and Rego, so I will be able to give them the info they want and then we can move on and sort it out ASAP
  9. Hi Mat, I would have thought that $1600 would have covered a full 98/E85 flex tune , but it is my first build and have no idea what they cost and I guess it varies from shop to shop?
  10. As Above I am not worried about it, I know they will do the right thing. I also know what I am entitled to expect as a consumer. As I said, they asked me to bring the car in. The touch up we will do is basically to give them a look at the plugs and a chance to go into the ECU and look see if they can touch it up a bit before I take it in.. I am sure if you have read my posts I may sound frustrated but I do not dump on their work as they have done other jobs for me and I have been very pleased with it. I dumped on the communication at times, I dumped on the time it was taking at times but until now I have not had cause to crap on their skills as mechanics. I cannot help what other people say. I do not think I have mentioned their name, but you blokes know when it all started I know they read these threads and there is not much I have said on SAU that I have not said to them. As blokes they are always pleasant and easy enough to get along with, but the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with. I am lead to believe that many build shops can be a little similar but that does not help when it is your first real go at a build Just want it sorted and be able to enjoy their work I am sure they will be happy to see the last of my whinging arse
  11. Now you hit the nail on the head, my car should never have left the shop from the start, over 5 months waiting another week would have made no difference. What was on their mind to give me the car like that, I am farked if I know ?????????
  12. haha, your a skeptic mate I could read up on tuning and still know nothing, sometimes, ignorance is bliss I am in a situation where I have had a build and there are a few things to be sorted, the builder has offered to do this, so until this is done and as much as it is a pain in the arse I have no choice but to see what happens.. These blokes have made some pretty good builds and should know what they are doing, when humans have a hand in things there is always the chance of a stuff up
  13. Yeah, still going but just having a quick look at what is happening with the tune and will get it in and sorted ASAP
  14. Maybe I am not worried because I know shit all about it and figure if he stuffs it he fixes it He will have the results of the used plugs to look at, that may give him an idea if one pot is worse than another. The car will be running and he can see the ECU the same as if it was on the Dyno, well except it wont be in gear with load, but it can be revved . Can they check coils on an ECU ? It is going back for a re-tune and the other problems rectified. ASAP !.
  15. blew your motor up and stuck his hand out for $$$$$$$$$s SHIT!
  16. We will be in real time, I have the Haltech program on my laptop, it will be plugged into the ECU and he has the tune in his system. He will be utilizing Teamview and work directly from my ECU and his computer with all of the information he has at hand, hope it works OK ? Did OK before when we worked on the old ECU, got me to Sydney OK
  17. The tuner sent me an Apexi Power FC Hand Controller, we worked on Face Time and made some changes to get it working enough to get me to Sydney, thats why I said "sensitive little suckers", from my experience, not worrying about anything, just a comment
  18. thats like saying your computer wont go tits up. My old ECU went tits up and the tune went to shit ?
  19. we are going to do a little long distance tuning, computer to computer to ECU program ,make some changes Going to put the new plugs in, number the old ones and take some pics of each one for the tuner to look at, probably give him an idea if one or more are running differently to the others ?
  20. sensitive little suckers, eh Must be a worry if the ECU goes tits up
  21. costly bit of advice, what happened , too lean, cook it ?
  22. yeah, been a little messy, just hope it gets sorted so I can enjoy the car. Distance is the killer with all of this
  23. I have been in a few similar situations and if I do not get this sorted to my satisfaction it will go further and I know exactly what action I must take. As much as I feel stuffed around I have to give them a chance to sort it out, they asked me to bring it in to them, so before I go all legal crazy I will give them a fair chance to fix it. Up until this build they have been very good, I guess this is what hurts the most. Being pissed around for over 5 months, it is now 7 months and still being stuffed around, it grinds you down after a while:( I was busting to get my hands on the car and when I finally did, it was a heap of shit! As for the ECU, it is mine and I paid for the tune that was done for my car . I have no IP agreement with them. I want it unlocked so if I want a totally new tune on the car at some time in the future, I can have it done. Who in there right mind would want to steal this tune, it was done for my car, using the bolt ons I have, what good would it be????????
