  1. I have seen a couple here in Japan but the only modded ones have been at car shows. They aren't nearly as popular as I was hoping they were going to be and I am often around Aichi prefecture (where they are made). Doesn't bode well for a new Supra.
  2. ??? some people really need to spend a few seconds considering an analogy before posting it.
  3. hehehe thanks mate.
  4. I can't speak for everyone but it peeves me off that people aren't discerning about what they buy because it will lead to manufacturers only offering inferior products. Therefore those of us that do care about where our money goes will not have the choice of buying a superior or equal but cheaper product. Technological advancement will only happen if supported by us. I would, however, like to say thanks for the boobs
  5. No worries, glad it helped out.
  6. I had a bit more of a think about it and was going to edit the above post but it won't let me so sorry for the double post. I understand the Japanese but I am not really clear on what it is instructing you to do. It is difficult without having the display to try the buttons. A literal translation would probably be something like this: If you want to cancel the switched off (or cancel) screen press the screen quality switch a second time (or twice if you haven't already pressed it). By the way the screen quality switch should be marked as 画質.

  8. VL owners used to use Monaro space savers but they have since been banned by ANDRA. "Just letting others know that the use of space saver wheels is now prohibited by ANDRA. It doesnt matter if you have proper drag racing front runners on them, the wheels are not allowed to be used. ANDRA reckon they spoke to GM and GM said the wheels are not safe over 80kph. Space Saver/Emergency Spare Wheels Deemed Unsafe Friday, 31 July 2009 - Posted by Rob Sharp (ANDRA Head Office) ANDRA has confirmed that a ban has been placed on Space Saver/Emergency wheels and tyres effective immediately. ANDRA Officials as well as track staff have been briefed to inform competitors and, if required, make the appropriate Log Book entry. The safety amendment to the current ANDRA Rules on wheels and tyres is as follows – 4.5.2 Tyres Tyres must be considered free of defects prior to any run. All treaded tyres must have a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm (1/16 inch). In classes with tyre width limits, the tread surface will be measured in all cases. All vehicles exceeding 160 mph (255 kph) are required to use tyres specifically built for drag racing use. Only dragsters, altereds and motorcycles may use motorcycle tyres. Cars quicker than 12.50 (1/4 mile)/8.00 (1/8 mile) using independent front suspension and cross-ply rear slicks are not permitted to use radial front tyres. Metal valve caps are required on all wheels. Retreading of any tyre on any vehicle quicker than 12.50 (1/4 mile)/8.00 (1/8 mile) or unsafe modification of racing tyres is not permitted. The use of speed limited tyres manufactured for space saver / emergency spare rims is prohibited. 4.5.3 Wheels Hub-caps and clip-on trims must be removed during all competition. Scrutineers may check for loose wheel nuts and cracked or damaged wheels. Each car must be fitted with automotive type wheels with a minimum diameter of 12 inches (304.8mm) unless class regulations permit otherwise. Rim width for sedans is a minimum of 3 inches (76.2mm). The use of automotive wire wheels and centre-lock devices is restricted to cars on which they were originally fitted. Automotive type wire wheels or motorcycle wheels are prohibited on vehicles in Altered classes. The use of speed limited rims known as ‘space saver’ or an emergency spare is prohibited. Each wheel stud must protrude past the outer face of the wheel by a distance no less than the diameter of the stud used. The thread engagement on all wheel studs to the lug nut must be equivalent to or greater than the diameter of the stud. Length of the stud does not determine legality, length of engagement between the stud and hex portion of the lug determines legality. (eg. A 7/16-inch stud must be completely engaged through the threads in the hex portion of the lug nut a minimum of 7/16-inch). All cars quicker than 11.00 (1/4 mile)/7.00 (1/8 mile) must be fitted with open ended wheel nuts. Factory alloy wheels may use original wheel nuts/studs. Motorcycle or lightweight racing wheels must use spokes with a minimum diameter of 1/8 inch (3.2mm), properly cross laced to provide maximum strength. All spoke holes in hub and rim must be used. 10. No worries. Personally if I was going to convert a V8 VL into an injected track machine I would just spend the bit extra and get an LS1...heaps of torque for spinning the tyres and lighter than an RB. Later on you can turbo the LS1 and get 400rwkw without doing any bottom end work. Once again check the calaisturbo forum if you are interested in the LS1 conversion into VLs. K frames occasionally come up on Ebay or post on some forums to see if someone wants to swap your 8 for a 6....you might get some interest.
  11. For a start the K-frame is different, the battery tray is on the opposite side and the fuel tank/lines need to be modded/replaced for fuel injection. If you are serious about this try the calaisturbo forum http://www.calaisturbo.com.au as it has a ton of information regarding all sorts of VL stuff. BTW I am guessing the hybrid was a typo surely you mean RB30 block with 25 head.
  12. Out of interest why no Commodores - for 20k you should be able to get the 6.0L VZ (not as great as the VEs L98 but still a great engine). Fuel consumption might be a concern around town but if you are doing a lot of highway kms then it shouldnt be too different especially if you were originally looking at Ford Turbos.
  13. I don't know about in Australia but it Japan at the moment you can buy Micro SD card Mp3 players for less than 1500yen (about $20). They use the inbuilt rechargable batteries but for that price you could just buy two and always have one recharging. All the music is on the micro SD which you can swap over so you are still only transferring your MP3's to one device (swapping the Micro SD card is easier than changing batteries). I think they take 32GB micro SD cards too which are now the cheapest per GB and will continue to get cheaper.
  14. I had to use Macs at Uni as the PCs were usually in use. The Macs were extraordinarily slow and often crashed despite being newer than the PCs. I was extremely frustrated, not quite as much as the guy next to me using a Mac though...
  15. +1 for netbook - the difference in usability can't be understated. A netbook is a complete PC whereas a tablet is basically a phone with a bigger screen.
  16. That is a valid point although I don't think an iPad really compares to the current generation of games consoles available. Having said that the versatility of the iPad can not be disputed. Not only the fact that it can do the job of other products but it does them much better. Consider these examples: If you own an RC car and are doing some work on it you can use the iPad to chock wheels. That is not a typing error - a conventional wheel chock prevents one wheel from moving however the vastly superior iPad will chock TWO wheels of your RC car AT ONE TIME!! Then let us consider the iPad as a practice hockey puck - a traditional hockey puck is fine for tournaments but for practice the iPad is vastly superior. It has a rectangular shape which necessitates excellent technique when attempting to attain the desired direction of movement. In addition the greater weight of the iPad will build upper body strength. Finally let us consider another use of the iPad. Conventional toilet paper is limited to a single use. The iPad once again demonstrates it's superior versatility. Wipe, hose off and reuse. I am sure other people will be able to list many other uses fo the iPad.
  17. Nice work, it is great to hear about people stand up for there rights like this. It isn't just about what you get out of it but hopefully it makes them think twice about doing it again. So thanks for following it through on behalf of all customers everywhere.
  18. No worries mate, good luck with it.
  19. Took a few hours but finally done. Please refer to the attached picture. I am pretty sure that "The body's coupler must face the rear of the car" is correct but if you find it isn't fitting then ignore my translation and do what you think is right.
  20. 1) South-West of Tokyo Bay, Daikokufuto, Saturday is the most popular (you might end up wasting your time if you go another night) - if you want info just type Daikokufuto into Google and there is a ton of info. 2) No idea - sorry 3) I am not sure what you mean in this sentence but if you want to see traditional Japan then you can't beat Kyoto 4) Depends on your destination/location but generally train is the go. There are many options available for train passes etc. Search this forum as many people have used them before. 5) Ask elrodeo666 6) From Tokyo station? By train. This website is fantastic for planning train trips http://www.hyperdia.com/
  21. I would do it right now but am flat out, can it wait till Saturday?
  22. So much for catching up for beers Marcus That is why HSV is so superior to Nismo, as far as I know they have never cancelled a HSV festival...as far as I know they have never had a HSV festival but that is besides the point surely
  23. Just an update - the PIs are now being received by customers. There is quite a backlog so if one is ordered today it won't be received until about July. I think the case design is finalised but you can't actually order it yet.
  24. If you are going to want multiple monitors or are transferring files via USB you might wanna wait for Ivy Bridge (supposedly being released in Ultrabooks later this month then desktops a bit later).
  25. Do you know any tracks in Chubu that store cars at the track? Could be something I want to do if it isnt too expensive.
