  1. hey mate while i can't help you directly, have a search through www.toymods.net or www.classiccelicas.com.au that will be able to help my friend had a bog stock ta22 with the 2t.... it was slow but perhaps not that slow... cheers, ryley
  2. sounds great! i have a mate with a v161 sz-r, on the corner weight scaling with 19s or something, fuel, was low 1400kg. so they are certainly not stupidly heavy! as well as the fat/heavy/slow image problem, the bad traction is another! they supra has a fantastic suspension design, it's just the fact that when you start cranking out a shitload of torque, you'll fry the rear tyres in any RWD car! my supra is only 230rwkw and with the semi-trailing arm's shocking camber change under squat frying tyres is very easy! bring on the finess of throttle control i say anywhere we can read about both your R32 and Supra mate? they both sound great, keen to see some pics too! ps.- as for the 2jz, you should hear norbie's with 272deg. cams and a big single... sounds very very angry shidan- as with everything, everyone exagerates the GTR awesomeness and disadvantages! just like the supra's weight is exagerated, and the 7MGTE's shitness the GTR and supra are both awesome cars... people just forget that there are always better cars.
  3. great read, so refreshing to read something free from bias! just wondering what made you run the turbos in parallel- from what i've read a lot of people prefer it sequential! interested to see what you think i wish my supra had the manic howl of the rb26 it sounds good, just not quite as insane.
  4. hey buddy i've got an ma61 supra (mk II) with a 7mgte turbo. good fun! just blew a headgasket so gotta fix that. turns out the ma70/jza70/ga70 (mk III) are the heavy bastards. nearly pushing 1700kg some of them. i know they went to ridiculous lengths with the jza80 (mk 4) to save weight- hollow carpets and crazy stuff like that. they do look heavy, and everyone seems to think they weigh a lot but really they aren't too bad!
  5. I also have both and the supra is better on fuel and more powerful- i attribute that to the supra being lighter (1300kg) and tuned better (has apexi gizmo). (only an ma61 supra- i can testify (weighbridge) a TT 6 speed supra JZA80 weighs 1480kg.) the GTR has a mines ecu and therefore runs rich as f**k. they both have a similar compression ratio (8.5:1 ish) as for the turbos are more/less economical debate, they are both. what determines how much petrol is used is how much work (ie LOAD) is required for the engine to move the car and overcome restrictions (ie mass of the car, aerodynamics et al) a turbo with more TORQUE (remember torque is what moves the car, and power is simply torque x rpm) than the equivalent n/a will use less fuel under cruise and light load because it requires less torque(and therefore fuel- remember an engine is *really* just an air pump, and will be under less load) to move the mass than the n/a equivalent. modern turbo engines tend to run higher compression and less boost because of this. under heavy throttle though, turbos will drink more because of the power! have a look of a typical ECU's fuel maps against manifold pressure- the results speak for themselves!
  6. thanks guys! yeah it's devils kitchen... many short videos can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/RyleyMA61 just search for supra under there it's still costing me money, gotta get myself an oil cooler now!! only thing is the 7M just doesn't have the manic howl of the RB26... more of a meaty vaccuum cleaner but it is a hell of a lot of good fun to drive, pretty light and very nice chassis balance... springs are a little soft, which i will fix, and i'm going to try and adapt an RB26 strut brace to fit the supra haha cheers, ryley
  7. Item: Greddy boost gauge Age: Came with car, so dunno Condition: Very good, everything works, very accurate Price: Would PREFER to swap for the driver's side air vent in R32 Skyline, but if you wanna buy it we may work something out To Fit: (What car) Fits in the circular driver's vent for R32 Skyline Location: Ballarat Contact: Ryley, PM me Comments: Pictures soon. It lights up green with an orange needle. Nice gauge, only reason I'm selling is because I want the vent Any questions please ask
  8. I need an oil cooler asap, preferably not a tiny one, and preferably at a very reasonable price... reason: went to install the full-flow oil cooler kit on the supra for sandown in two weeks and the one i have has weeny weeny connections. i need one with 3/4-16 AN/JIC connections if possible have money ready to deposit for quick postage etc thanks all
  9. will an R32 GTST aircon condenser fit in an R32 GT-R, and vise versa?? just curious thanks goodnight ciao
  10. could someone pretty please bang this one in for me? BNR32-007828
  11. i've had great results with haltech, will be putting an e11v2 on the gtr and an e6x on the supra. vipec is by one of the guys from autronic, or a distributor, or something isn't he? i can't think of the guy's name now, but he was in with autronic and then split i think, just like the autronic/motec story all those years back...
  12. yeah the m3 is like a scalpel... precise, refined et al the r34 is like darth vader... done up from standard and uses wizardcraft tricks
  13. bit of food for thought last track day i went to had the usual awesome R34 GT-Rs, (they usually flog everything, about on par with steve coad and his 800hp monaro) last one i went to had an E36 M3, and had a bit of enginework, absolutely flogged everything... winton: GTRs were doing 1:31s (superleggara does a 1:36)... this m3 did a 1:29 as much as i do love my japanese stuff, including the GTRs, BMW quality and precision is so much better. the 3.2 six in the m3 is absolutely off it's head, the handling is insane... take one for a good drive and see how you go. i know how good the gtr handles, especially after modifications, but the m3 will be able to kick it with it through the corners all the way you won't get the m3 going as hard in a straight line without serious modifications, but the cornering of the m3 is out of this world
  14. check out motorsport connections, www.mscn.com.au, cheap prices, in sydney, i got my oil cooler for my supra there, very helpful
  15. cheers guys. yeah it's a very different machine to the GTR, lots of fun though. Got any pics of your JZA80 N1GTR? As for knight rider, i was bored and used my phone video editor to make a montage of clips of it to the knight rider theme... i thought it was amusing as for pics of the merc, don't have many yet. it's a bog stock 1982 380SE in gold, with a lot of structural rust and 20l/100km. it's a south african one though, so it goes a lot harder than the aussie ones (no pollution crap, did the 1/4 in 15.8!!! ) there are a few vids of it on my youtube channel, username ryleyma61... thanks again
  16. hmmmm... certainly not cheap, but i can imagine that would be tempting... you could get one of the haltech ECUs that their R35 is running....
  17. did i read somewhere that some mob managed to get compliancing forthe R35 GTR?? Or am i dribbling shit and should stick to Toyotas?
  18. R32! R33 looks too overweight no sunroof = more torsional ridgitity! Definately R32. Unless you find a really tough R33.
  19. interesting!! so which part of the airbox do people recommend removing for best performance??
  20. dear god that car looks f**king mean good to see an improvement though, and you reckon driveability is heaps better? i want a bit more driveability from the R32. just doesn't have the wall of torque the supra does... but has many more revs
  21. what are the diameters of the single pipes and merged pipe???
  22. bump- anyone interested? or even have a cheap standard grille?
  23. Ferrari F40 - 1st place Lambo Countach - 2nd Place MA61 Supra / 205 GTI Turbo 16 (The mid engined one) - 3rd
  24. yeah all info is good info, thanks guys my understanding of engine bay heat (with use of undertray that covers front half of bay) from an engineering perspective air builds up in the front of the engine bay and therefore pressure, this creating a negative pressure region at the lower/back on the engine and air is "sucked" out that way. that said there were noticible gains from relocating my pod filter in the supra from the engine bay to the wheel arch.... so yeah, any advice people have is welcome
