  1. You wont need internals or a bigger turbo - my XR6 turbo ute runs 11.9 @ 120 & none of that stuff has been touched!!! ( and the ute is heavier than the sedan too)
  2. No, Sorry, I dont have little bits & pieces like that left over. Paul, they are the low impedance ones (2.2 ohms) so will work fine with your power FC. I had them in HKS rail. Cheers.
  3. BTW the wiring loom is the COMPLETE R33 GTR loom that was taken from the race GTR, not just the engine one. asking $1000 for it with everything.
  4. They are the 10mm ones, will fit in the std rail. John edit** pics now up. http://members.iinet.net.au/~viscount/Plenum2.jpg http://members.iinet.net.au/~viscount/Plenum1.jpg
  5. GReddy Plenum, modified to suit Holley single throttle body. Comes with throttle body, custom aluminium spacers(replaces std throttles), & long throttle cable to suit GTR. $1000 Also, 6 x 1000cc Rochester Injectors $500 Complete R33 GTR wiring loom from 1995 model $POA
  6. That sounds like fun!!! Is the car behaving itself & staying straight now. I went looking for old timecards & found this one - 60' 1.526, 330 not recorded, 660' 6.337 @ 117, 1000' 8.170, ET 9.637 @ 148.88 Best 60' to date has been 1.46. I think Keir is down in the 1.3s. Keep up the good work, that would be getting close to the record in UK wouldn't it?
  7. It's the same old argument. You will never get one car to fulfill all your day to day needs AND be your weekend fantasy machine that destroys everyone at the lights, handles like a supercar, & is so unique that people drop their jaws as you drive by. You buy a car for you to enjoy & thats the bottom line. If you can use it everyday without hassles, It gives you a good balance between handling in the hills, good acceleration, & can satisfy your daily transportation needs, then you have found the right compromise & the right car. I am glad we dont all have the same opinion on what that car should be cause how boring would that be. I dont have my licence at the moment so count yourself lucky you can at least drive your cars.
  8. Even the HKS race team told us they didnt know how to properly set up the etc & drag adapter!! We asked them & they just shook their heads & the translation was something like " ahh.. we tried that but it not work for us... mainly for street car...so sorry" My car has an Apexi Manual hydraulic setup (like a big handbrake) we can adjust the settings then I can release it during the run - havent really get it set up correctly yet. Keith - have you tested again since?
  9. If you were comparing R33 GTR Vs XR6T, I would say go the GTR, but vs the 34Gtt my opinion would be the XR6T is the better value. There are guys here in Adelaide that are pulling 12.9 with only the new flash tuner & injectors!!! Was at a demo night last night & a stock XR6T + edit made 230 rwkw. This new edit sorts out all the idle problems that the factory computers can have, & resets the auto shifts as well. (forget a manual XR6T if you want it to run good 1/4 times) My XR6T has been modified a fair bit with Nizpro kit, exhaust, trans upgrade etc & makes 345 rwkw. It is a heavy ute, but still ran 11.9 @ 120 recently, & it still drives like a stocky!!! Check out the XR6 Turbo forum & see for youself what can be done. That said - Aussie build quality is great, but will never match the Japanese manufacturers. Have fun working it out, test drive as many as you can.
  10. Hi Keith (sorry, been offline for a while) My race GTR will be a while still - probably late in the year. Talking to Keir recently after his first runs on slicks & he was having problems with tyre diameter differences due to growth during the run. As there are only a handful of guys in the world pushing into low times it really becomes a case of trial & error - just keep testing. My suggestion would be try a set of radial tyres first (just to get some full passes done & get some baseline runs) then put the slicks back on with a reduced tune & creep up on it till you are used to steering it the whole length of the track under full power - I am sure all of the fast Jap teams have done hundreds of runs in testing before they found the best combination for each car. From what I have seen the R32 is the least stable of the breed - so have fun!!! I love Scotland (haven't been since 2000), wish I was there & you had a passenger seat in it - would love to go for a few test runs with you........
  11. Is it possible to do it on the Sunday instead? We would love to come but I have to work at the caravan yard till 3pm on Saturdays. I promise to be good & not lay heaps of rubber when we leave (even tho Erica will be driving)
  12. With a 1.5 way front diff, you might just need to back off the front bias once you get past 2nd gear ( I know things are a bit busy about then) but the torque steer is the problem & no way around it with that much power. i am a bit out of touch 'cause I haven't run my race GTR for nearly 2 years, but I remember crossing the traps at 153 mph with a 1/4 turn of steering lock to keep it straight so I understand the problem. i am looking at going to slicks with my new setup, so will probably face the same problem. All I can suggest is put more power to the rear & steer the thing at the traps the best you can. Welcome to fast GTRs. Never seen a really fast run that wasn't all over the track!!! The HKS team told me to stiffen up the rear suspension & keep the car as flat as you can. They have much less weight to deal with then us (mine around 1270 kg), so direction changes not as hard to deal with. Smoother gear changes will also help keep it straighter. Easier said then done I know!!! Keep up the good work, ultimately it's the testing that will give you the best results. We are only just starting out.
  13. Sicccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk! Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttttttttttttttttttttee!
  14. Sorry, group of us tried to get there but got too pissed on the way. Lets catch up for cruise soon before the nationals on Feb 26th. Under the influence of forced induction - who can resist? Happy new year everyone.
  15. Wow. 2005! The R32 GTR is over 15 years old! My 95 model R33 is 10 years old!!! Funny, when discussing "old school" performance cars Vs latest Hi-tech Jap cars to be reminded that our cars are older than VS commodores!(OK- exclude R34s) But even now, how good are they? Ahead of their time, I still think the Skyline is the best all round performance car available. While still fairly expensive to modify, the performance gains are amazing considering their displacement, & the handling & creature comforts are second to none. Of course I like all the latest bits on the local Holdens (6L) & Fords (Turbos) , but even after all these years the Skyline is a damn sexy car. Looking forward to blowing the dust off the race car, (other life essentials getting in the way of drag racing dreams), & getting the new setup going in this new year! Been getting numerous calls from Theo Wollet who is breathing down my neck with a 9.75 @ 153. Can only hope to get it back out there soon & run some good numbers alongside Keir who will be the force in GTR racing this next year. Great to see so many nice Skylines out there - keep up the good work. Have a great new year everyone, keep cruisin. Munro.
  16. I had the old RE540s on the R33. They were great in the hills if the roads were smooth, but when they get bumpy & the rest of the time on the street they were such a pain I have got rid of them (of course, they had no tread left anyway!) I have gone back to normal street yokos. Wont be quite as good for handling, but will make the car much more comfortable to drive. I used to use Bridgestone in the city when Laurie was there. My last couple of sets came from Mag Wheel centre on Prospect Rd.
  17. Spewin, would have loved to take part but was working - will come out next time. Sounds like you guys had lots of fun though! What tyre pressures were you running Nightcrawler???
  18. Yep. Launch city out the front of Keirs every Sat afternoon. Nice smooth bitsi - sweeeeeeet. went for ride in a few sick holden utes etc - can now get turbo kits for Gen III's - alright, A V8 with turbo boost - pity they cant hook it up - ha ha still, a latest model holden that can drift without using corners is ALWAYS a good thing!!! will always be a V8 head at the core - & will one day combine my 2 loves & have both V8 & turbocharging on one vehicle.Yeeeeeah. Till then will have to keep em behind me with 4 paw traction - GO GTR POWER!. As far as all the winging about cops goes - if everyone wants to hang around with their cars & meet people & have fun doing burnouts etc - thats what the drags is for. Come out to the drags, even if you dont want to race it only cost $10 extra to bring your car in & park it inside & you can gasbag to your hearts content, while watching good racin action, gettin pissed(if u not racin), & never see a cop. I'd much rather hang out there on a saturday night then some dimly lit carpark with a bunch of scooters that never put their driving skills where there mouth is.
  19. Yes, the OS 3 Litre engine has a sleeved block, but much more engineering involved in sleeving all six & running a spacer plate due to the longer stroke. These engines are a work of art. Would seem simpler to me (if just looking to fix an RB26) to just buy a new N1 block & be done with it(thats what I have done on my street GTR) As far as my "methanol guzzling" 3 litre goes - it has only guzzled about 1 litre so far - just been started to bring up oil pressure. The car is waiting for a few finishing touches ( as the $$$ allows - bit limited lately), but will hopefully be fired in anger before the end of the year.
  20. There will always be cop hassles with such a large group when you want to hang around in shopping centre car parks on a fri or sat night - thats why I dont bring out my GTR on those big cruises.I was in the XR ute on that night & got past the cops without a hassle. The best cruises are always the ones held during the afternoon, away from the city, with a small group of cars. That why I like the skyline cruises (& we have had plenty of good ones) let all the scooters have their social/copbait outings - I will stick to the actual cruises that focus on cruising, not hanging around in car parks.nuff said. Speaking of which - who is coming out to the first Sat night drags on the 6th - should be a good night - hoping to race the street GTR. I was practising launches down at Keir's this afternoon. Been a while since I raced - looking forward to it.
  21. The OS engine is still in the race GTR (which will hopefully be ready before the 4,6&rotor Nats/ & Drag Combat). Yes I did try a PPG box for a little while. I am testing out the OS 6 speed because I like the sequential changes (& the extra gear) It sometimes does'nt grab the next gear if not shifted firmly enough - will have to keep practicing. The power curve is OK for now - is still pretty conservative(I want to get some use out of this engine - not blow it sky high like the previous setup.)
  22. After 3 engine failures I am finally back on the street with a Skyline - at last. The R33 GTR is going again, with it's 3rd (& hopefully final engine build) After the last fiasco just before the last 4,6&rotor nats in Feb (when we made 480rwkw then cracked the block on the friday before the meeting) the street GTR is up & running again. This time the R33 has a brand new N1 block, new aries forged pistions, smaller 272 HKS cams (the 288 step pro cams from the race GTR are going into a 3 litre that Mark from Rhemac Motors is building for his GTR) & a conservative run in tune at 1 bar. Tim has tuned the motec at Tilbrooks (who did an excellent job of getting the car ready) & the GTR currently has 375 rwkw (500hp). The only other change is the gearbox, which is now an OS Giken Sequential 6 speed. This box has bigger dogs then the Holinger & should take the pounding of street use better than the finely tuned Holinger box(which is staying in the race GTR) I have only started running in the GTR over the last week & hopefully will have it sorted ready for the skyline cruise later this month.
  23. At the drags, who cares about mid range. The race GTR has a single 100mm throttle body & 292 cams. Boost will start around 6500rpm. The engine is built & the car is nearly finished. So close, yet so far away. Cant wait to get it finished. Been a long time between drinks. And I like a drink as much as the next guy!!!
  24. Well I would like to throw a spanner in the works here.( have not read whole thread, but noticed comment about single throttle conversion) Any modified car, no matter what it is, is only as good as it's weakest link. If a car is setup for a particular purpose then compromises are made. I am by no means an expert in these matters, but would like to add my opinion. Often I have seen (& driven) modified cars that have been built with "killer" parts lists that "on paper" should kick ass. BUT, they have not been greater than the "sum off the parts", in other words, they have been built with all the "name" bits & pieces, but the overall application has been overshot in some areas. Massive top end power is totally useless on the street if mid range torque is sacrificed to find it. If you are building a drag car then it doesnt matter, but the street is where it's at. For example - the latest engine build on my street GTR (& I hope it's the last) has been a realistic downgrading so I can actually use it on the street. I reluctantly swapped the HKS step proL 288 cams for a pair of much more sensible 272s. With the 288s, the car was a total pig in traffic off the line & couldn't even sit happily at 60 unless I kept it in 2nd or 3rd gear. Now the car has much better bottom end response, still will pull well into the revs, & I can use the car. It does has a single throttle conversion(85mm), & with the single turbo, custom valves, conservative tune at 1 bar on PULP, it makes 375rwkw(500hp) & is responsive, well behaved & just what I wanted. Big number parts are fun to talk about, but what we all want is a reliable, fast street car. If a single throttle conversion is done in conjuntion with the RIGHT parts and tuned accordingly then it CAN be an advantage. I have seen articles on Jap GTRS that run low nines still using the original 6 throttle bodies & a std plenum!!! So go figure!
  25. Well done. I know how hard that is. Keep up the good work. Great to see an R34 out there pulling the numbers.
