I'm refreshing my R32 . I will be buying a set of ARP head bolt but how about the mains stud? are they mandatory? My builder told me : it's always better but if you don't have the money, there's no need. Do you agree with that previous statement? I'm a student, I'm on budget so if I can save 200$ somewhere I will gladly to do it.

ebay is your friend for this kind of stuff.

Hello, I can get a Cometic gasket kit for 310$, a Nissan gasket kit for 150$ + either a Cometic HG (180$) or Apexi HG (250$) and then I could *maybe* sell my nissan HG for 40$. Obvsiouly, the Cometic gasket kit is cheaper and easier to get ( 1 box instead of 2). Opinions on this kit? Thanks!

Here in Canada, everybody talk bad about Cometic.. Would I be better with a Nissan gasket kit and replace the HG with a cosworth for exemple? or all this hyped-hate against cometic is false?

Nos To Be Used As A Top-End Booster Only?
cobrAA replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the info. Here, where I lives, E85 is VERY HARD to come by, a lot more than nitrous, Hence why it's not an option for me. Someone told me my idea might NOT WORK because I would be maxing my turbos and once they are at their max ( close to 25psi), you can't blow more air so the nitrous would get wasted. It sound interesting but is it true? And when I consider camshafts are worth 800$ and gives a 10whp gain at the end but moves the powerband while I can get nitrous for 600$ with a 50whp gain on a 55HP jet. If you take the proper safety caution, I can't see how NOS can be as bad as you some of you say it. -
baron, your talking about big cams but poncams ain't really big cams.. very mild cams compared to others.

Hello! After reading quite a bit on the topic, trying to dig info on jdm with nos and twin turbos jdm withs nos. I still feel like I need some help.:sadwavey: Most info I get is big domestic car or super laggy turbo that NOS is used to spool them up quicker.. like R.I.P.S does: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/75197-r-i-p-s-nitrous-install-5.html What I'm looking for my car is to increase the top-end with NOS ( past 5k up to 7.5). As you might be aware, the GTSS are very quick and I love the response so adding NOS at the low-end would end up in a waste because I'm sure the kick will simply be too much ( lost of traction too). I might also end up breaking my tranny or my motor a lot sooner. So I rather play safe and add the NOS as a top-end power adder. 1) Does it make sens or my idea wouldn't work? 2) Then, I was wondering which brands should I get but from the RIPS threads, if these guy use NOS, I can't see why I wouldn't use them lol! 3) Now, I wanted to know, because safety first! What can I do to protect from any premature damage occuring on my car? A progressive electronic controller? Thanks for your input!

I have GTSS my friend have -5. I could really see the difference in terms of response and kick in the butt ( maybe that's because I'm used to my car and <I have 410whp while my friend's car have 470whp) however major advantage to the gtss combo in terms of response. If you want the ultimate quick car, I think GTSS are the way to go and I was lucky enought to find a good deal on GT-SS so I didn't think too long between the -5 vs -9 war haha! ( it made my choice a lot easier)

I found a deal on an used set of splitfire for 300$.. In the meantimes, I found a guy on ebay selling NEW oem coilpacks with the coil harness for 250$ ( lol! So, I bought them without thinking) Now, I'm wondering which set should I keep, My built should be a pair of GT-SS on RB26 with max 25psi ( but let say closer to 22psi). Is there a way to test them without having them installed on the car? ( my car is in storage)

Which brands out there can be trusted?? Is NOS any good or it's a rice brand?

So I Thought A R33 Crankshaft Was The Way To Go..
cobrAA replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Good post Baron!!! I didn't think that way nor do I know about toyota's system. I should have a read about these. But whatever, I was hunting for an used r33 crankshaft.. here in NA, used crank go for like 500$. with that thread, I realise my crank with a 100$ collar will be as good as an used r33 crank and I have 400$ to play with the machine shop to machine my crank. I doubt it will cost 400$ for a polish and collar fitted. so I'm saving some coins on a set of ACL bearing for exemple. -

Budget Built: R32 Forged Rebuilt Or R33 Oem Internal?
cobrAA replied to cobrAA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No no... this is 2 local members selling their block and I want to pick one of them and would like to make a deposit this week-end. this is real pricing. -
Hello guys, I'm a student.. money is short so I rather don't buy useless aka OVERKILL product for my BNR32 RB26. My application.. 95% daily-driving and 5% of track. I'm currenctly making 400whp with HKS GT-SS at 17psi. Sure, I'm thinking the option 1 is nicier but maybe overkill for my use / Turbo and could you the extra cash somewhere else ( like labour for swapping both engine) What's your thought? Option 1: 3200$ RB26 Bottom end 87mm CP pistons Eagle Rods ARP rod bolts Custom oil collar (machined by Manny from Federal) Ballanced and pollished crank ACL bearings Acid dipped block Decked cross hatched New OEM oil pump N1 Water pump Timming beld pullies Fittings for braided line to turbos comes with front oil pan and diff GTS-4 0 KM RB26 Head Tomei type-B cams A/M coolant hose Tomei gasket set all valves installed everything is there Option 2: 2000$ For sale is a used R33 RB26 Head and block assembly which is in excellent running condition and well maintained ready to go!Compression numbers before the motor was pulled showed 170,170,170,170,170,165 (from #1-#6) Almost perfect numbers. Details: -Brand new tomei poncams type B 260in/ex 9.15mm lift -Brand new Greddy timing belt -Brand new Oem Nissan Idler/Tensionner -Brand new Nissan N1 water pump -Brand new Nissan N1 oil pump -Brand new Oem cam seals -Brand new Oem front main seal -Brand new Oem rear main seal The lumps on the exhaust side of the head were ported smooth. The block was prepped and painted with a fresh coat of black paint, the oil pan was removed ,all the internals look nice and clean.I removed the pickup and cleaned it,everything was reassembled with proper silicone and grease where needed, all torqued to spec

I think the forum is a bit biased because the conclusion is always that WON is the best system and it,s always worth it lol.. None the less, I think 500$ for a 50hp gain is very cost-effective in terms of performance vs. price.
-
It's mainly daily-driven. less than 5k per year, maybe 15 drag strip per year lol, rev limiter is set at 7.4k. I was looking for ballpack idea if forged and taking the motor was an absolute necessary. Thanks for your comments

being on a budget build, I would like to know what's the max HP for OEM internal ? I'm fitting a crank collar and rebalance the crankshaft with a N1 pump and ATI 1000hp damper. I'm also buying a metal head gasket, I'm running a AEM Water-methanol injection and HKS GTSS. I would like to boost up to 23psi,maybe 25psi. For the rest, I'm wondering if it's really worth putting the whole set of ARP stud, forged rods, piston, port the head, machine everything when I track the car once a years and do maybe 10-15 drag run per year.

thanks! I will go browse this forum.

So, I have a RB26 powered by GTSS. I bought an AEM water-meth kit but seeing how cheap NOS kit go for, I was wondering if it would be safe to run both? Is there a risk of fire (explosion when mixed both) ? Is the NOS very hard to tune on the dyno? Anyways, let's talk about it haha!
