  1. TPS? wots that stand for? sorry im still at noob lol. Car is booked in for friday, hopefully they can sort it an get it right this time.
  2. 300kw-320rwkw easy??? spent about 25k on performance parts an labour to get 300kw atw. Prob cheaper if u find a happy dyno or dont tie the car down real tight to allow it to ride up, from wot i've been told it can make the exact same dyno read about 50-80hp different, depending on how u strap it down. As for the longivity of an engine's life (built or unopened) people usually only seem to quote a certain amount of years/months which isnt really informative, amount of track time, km since rebuilt, %of time driving the car spirited (or over 5-6k rpm) would be more informaitive. as a car that only does 3000km a year an 1 track day, an gets babied, is a lot different to a car that does 20,000km a year a 4 or 5 trackdays a year an gets thrashed every time it gets drivin.
  3. haha i can see the flames in my right hand mirror when it lets off a mother boom, an very noticable red glow if im not lookin in a mirror at the time.
  4. i live in qld just a few hours west of brissie. would go somewhere else but then i'd have to pay. spent over 15k on the car when it went there in the first place so they can fix their stuff ups for free... i pay good money i expect a perfect job. They seem happy to try an fix it for me is just annyoying having a sick car in the mean time while i try an find time to take it back down. suprised it hasnt opened the exhaust up anywhere, the little flutter pops dont worry me its the ones that sound like an old black powder rifle.

  6. hmm stroking the engine is on the verge of cheating lol an if ur gunna stroke it why not go an rb30/26... then why not get a 3.2L stroker kit for it... or why not go one step bigger again an u got a 4l falcon engine lol or i did see a gtr with a gen III v8 under the hood with a cpl turbo's hanging off it lol each to their own. an yes in town i would swap for a stroked engine very quickly, as its rather hard to give it 60% a bit at the lights, its either a full on launch or 4wd diesels can beat me if i idle off lol an thats a little embarressing
  7. haha my gtr makes about 65hp at 3000rpm an bout 290hp 5000rpm an only makes 420hp atw 7800rpm pretty sure my car didnt make 100hp at 3000rpm even stocklol if i wanted low down grunt i'd buy a falcon... but only reving to 6-6.5k? thats a bit gay lol

Sorry mate fuel injecters wilcorrode/rust up,read it on other forums n was talking with a relative over easter bout this, he water injection on an old carby fed holden statesman. had a very basic setup think he had 5 smallish injectors into the carby into a spacer he had up had no injection at idle, then two would open up with the first two barrels when they opened, then the next 2 with the, 3rd an fourth barrells using the vacum (somehow) then the fith was on the front of the carby an opened under full throttle when there was no vacum powered buy a washer bottle pump. he never changed the timing didnt notice much performance but got a 50% improvement in fuel, went from getting 400km a tank to 600km a tank. but after a couple of months the nozzels corroded/rusted up. an he couldnt find any to handle water (that was quiet a few years ago) also back in the 80's dad's cousin had water/meth injection on his car had great performance gains but if the car sat for a few weeks or a month the water/meth mix all went to jelly an clogged all the lines an the tank also had to be cleaned out..anyone had these problems?? maybe meth has improved over the years or the were running a different mix ratio. as for getting power from water an old man from i think Dalby (se qld) did time for not paying tax on water used for fuel, tho thinking he may have bn using electrolisis, he could drive an old bus from dalby to cairns on 40L of fuel..about 2000km!!...tight arse government lol wish i'd descovered how good water/meth injection a cpl months ago before i spent money on cams to get more power while sacrificing drivability...but its got a nice idle lol
  9. took the car back, over run fuel cut was turned off, he turned it on.. but does it need setting up? seemed to have fixed the car for a while unless it was coincidence, just a slight popping on decel nothing major, but by that night it was back to back firing/shooting flames with a load bang, big enough so i could see the flames in my right hand mirror (exhaust is on the left) probably once in every 12 gear changes under full accelleration (when i back off to change gears) Could it be possible the computer turned it back off?? drove it last nite with a car load of ppl seemed to back fire every gear change under acceleration to some degree some very large, some not so big, all Very noticable..
  10. yer i always went around the water, but there was a definate change in 60ft times as the air got cooler, an the tryes cooled down, first runs tyres were still a lil warm from driving there, latter runs the car had been sitting still for a fair while. so do u think ku36's or a simalar tyre would get beta grip when cold then a normal street tyre?, plz recommend a different tyre if u think they're beta, but the tyres need to be drivin on the street, on a daily basis so dont want "drag" only tyres. i guess i could put it into limp mode.. but would be a lil annoying tho would be worth a go...

Has 420hp atw (think thats bit over 300kwatw) about 40hp more then when i was there the first time, seen a couple gtr's one with bout 320hpatw an one with 460hp that couldnt get traction first i think had pretty cheap rubber but the 460hp one had fairly mid range 265 rubber (cant remember brand) an couldnt get traction till 2nd gear an started to brake traction again an only managed a 12.4 maybe 12.3 just know every 1/10of a second off the 60ft is worth a fair bit more at the end... tho my original goal was to crack 200km/h at the end of the strip, 60ft might not count much towards that (top speed so far was 189km/h @ 380hp atw) tho a quick 1/4 mile slip quietens the supercharged commordore boys kw bragging!
  12. Wanna go back to the drags but only got chinese tyres which also are old n hard. But need some new tyres, better quality an newer, was considering some KU36's. first time i went to willowbank ran some falken 452's an managed a best of 1.59 60ft. would ku36's give better traction? Problem i can see is i dont know how to warm the tyres, so would cold ku36's be any grippier then falken 452's? as i noticed last time as it got latter in the nite n cooler my 60ft times were slowly getting worse, tho mph was goin up so the times stayed the same (11.7) also is there an easy way to warm ur tyres in an 33gtr? any experience or advice/tips would be greatly appreaciated =)

Ritio, will ring them tomorrow, an guess ill have take it back to brisbane when i get a spare weekend.. an get them to strap it back on the dyno. hopefully for free.. already spent 1k on tuning for the cam, an cam gears.. cat was removed before tuning. i dont mind paying out my hard earned dollars to overcharging performance shops but when i do, i expect the jobs to be done perfect.. an get annoyed when things aren't because it means wasting a weekend to go down to brissie drop the car off, an if it cant be fixed immediatley finding a lift home an a lift back down to pick it up when its ready, or paying an employee to pick me up an drop me off, or sometimes its easyier if im busy to tilt tray it.. which is all a pain in the ass.+1 reason for buyin a stock xr6-t
  14. Car has been tuned since, thinkin of gettin a new cat again.. got 3inch in let out let on current cat with a 3inch high flow cat, does anyone know if you can put a 4 inch cat into a 3inch exhaust? or does the diff size (3inch -4inch-3inch) mess up the air flow too much?

Yer i have an atmo bov, always have, were on the car when i bought it 4 years ago, chnaged where it is so its closer to the intake an put a diff bov on but both were atmo bov's. dont use the z32's anymore since i got a vipec bout 2 years ago. Did u mean the car will start running like shit if the plugs carbon up or for a diff reason? =s
  16. Just got my car back from the work shop, has now got 270 degree cams an cam gears, an the insides of the cat were removed as it was chocked up, an some other unrelated mods. Car now pops under decelleration with an occasional loud pop (backfire?) when i back off from full throttle, (full revs) to grab nxt gear or just slow down with an occasional flame coming out the back exhaust.. wondering wot people's thought are, is this normal or would it be hurting the engine?

Spent 20+k on performance parts an labour, reputable parts reputable shops.. still havent found 500 lol was just gunna get some 270 cams that can fit in without removing head, but now considering taking the head off, which means i prob should get port an polish while its apart higher lift cams n oversized valves an valve springs to suit. an of course metal head gasket an new head studs, but that isnt real easy on the wallet an if the extra power makes somethin go bang the head will prob be stuffed, n will need to rebuild engine. the car does plenty of 440km +trips so dont wanna ruin reliability. hmm cars really r botomless pits.. problem is where to stop an just be happy with it lol
  18. currently have round 400hp atw just considering doin the head up which would prob end up pushing up towards 500, just dont wanna spend the money on the head if its all gunna end up scrap metal. thanks for your help
  19. thanks mate, how bout standard oil an water pump? or do you only need to upgrade the standard oil pump when revving past 8000rpm?
  20. Just wondering wot ppl's opions are on gtr rods, getting somme work done on my car i know it has cp pistons but am unsure of the rods as the engine was rebuilt before i bought it, wondering how many hp atw's stock rods can handle safely??
  21. pretty much done all th bolt on shit, running a cpl -5's head an intake plenum are basically the only two things i havent done, an from my lil research the stock plenum aint too bad.
