  1. was a 3inch high flow metal cat... dont know shit bout them, yer think it was pretty clogged
  2. my car is a a performance show gettin some work done then was gunna get a set of 272 cams that they dont need to pull the head off to get in. but starting to consider pulling the head off an getting some port it get some oversize valves higher lift cams an a set of valve springs to go with it. but that would cost approx. 7.5k extra not sure if its worth the extra coin as it is my weekend driver ( its a hilux n trucks during the week) n hilux when i dont have my car or wanna tow the ski boat..(dont think i can get a towball fitted to the line lol) got till lunch time monday to decide...

My names brad owned my r33GTR for 4 years now, still a noob. live a few hours from brissy so dont really know any other skyline drivers. finally become a proper paid member, looking foward to some cruises/trackdays. also gettin sick of being ripped off by various performance shops in brissie, Its time i learnt something about my car instead of just handing money over without doing any research wotsoeva so please excuse my nooby questions. cheers
  4. Was the cat..again took the cat out an instantly jumped 50-60hp on the dyno =)
  5. have got a vipec ecu so no longer use the z32 afm's (i should pull them off an sell them..if they're worth anything 2nd hand.) Car was dyno'd this afternoon, an mechanic thinks its a clogged exhaust. so they gunna take the cat out in the morning an re dyno it to see if thats the prob
  6. 11.7sec ran 3 11.7's for the night tho 60ft got a lil slower later on as it cooled down but had a higher trap speed the 1.59 60ft run was at 185km trap speed an 1.71 was at 189km/h an had 1 run somwhere in between them all 11.7's also did 3 other not so good runs for the night. was my first time at the drags so was happy. 385hp at the wheels
  7. Might get them to pull the exhaust off an see if it makes any difference, could be possible.. tho is there much to collapse in a 3inch metal cat..they are nearly straight thru. Wot could get stuck in the intake? hopefully the air filters get rid of anything big enough to clog an intake pipe. Dont think it would be fuel cos its a noticable difference on the road an it just dont go as good as it used to, an was the same dyno. but will get them get them to check out the exhaust. the turbo's are bout 2-3 years old garret think they're -5's running 20 psi is it very common for turbos to shit emselves or something cause them to run inefficiently?? Havent eva noticed any wierd noises when boosting. just dont seem to get the effect they used to give. something seems to be choking the engine somewhere.
  8. yer that is a good idea, tried it a cpl times, tho the first time i probably got ready a lil early an the guy beside me didnt seem to be able to line his starting lights up so by the time we eventually went i had that nice clutch smell through my car. definately agree it would be easier on the driveline...cept the clutch. tho i never broke anything..not sure if its just good luck or the drivelines are just that tough.
  9. My car has lost about 85hp at the wheels, thought the motor was getting sad, but got the leak down test an compression test done both came back fine. tune still seemed good just missing power (from 385 back to bout 300) wondering if anyone had any ideas wot it could be? thank in advance
  10. My best 60ft was a 1.59 not sure if thats good or just average. (33gtr) was by just sidestepping the clutch at just under 8000rpm (in first gear) an planting throttle. the car got full traction at about 5,500rpm. had a set of 275/17 falken 452's i think (just normal street tyres) been back with cheap rubber an less power an couldnt get it to hook up spinning all of first = shit times

The performance shop where my car is atm is trying to talk me into some tein super streets with incar remote to adjust the settings but they not real easy on the wallet, not sure if this only adjusts the dampening or can adjust the height.. sure someone can tell me. tho i am happy with how it handles now so i would go for something fairly standard if there is a big price diff. I've been told the standard 33gtr suspension is alot softer than the v-spec not sure if thats right or not. havent bn for a ride in any other skylines so dont really know. but dont really want it any harder or lowere than the v-spec cos our roads out here are shit, but dont really want it any softer for the times i mangage to find a smooth deserted range.

Think of getting some new standard springs/shocks for my car. like the way it handles but realise the car is now bout 17 years old an the shockies probably shit emselves 10 years ago an the springs have probably sagged. does anyone know where to get new standard ones an wot $$$ they are?? or is putting standard ones back on just stupid? opinions experience would be great. thanks in advance

Got pulled over in Moore last weekend on the way to a wedding, 25 mins later, an missed the wedding ceremony, they got down smelt the exhaust, an said it smells a little "fumey" so i now got a defect that says *Ensure exhaust system complies with manufactures specs *ensure exhaust emissions comply with manufactures specs Where am i supposed to get it checked at? says i gotta produce the vehicle for a full safety certificate inspection, at an approved inspection station. Is that nearly any mechanic shop? an i take it it has to pass an emissions test to??? does a normal mechanic check that? Though got a bad feeling its not gunna pass any exhaust test without doin somethin dodgey. Owned the car fo four years an no cops ever mentioned the exhaust, why couldnt the city transport department stay where they belong???

Pulled the rear turbo oil feed line of cpl months ago to have it repaired, now i cant remember exactly where it went n cant seem to get it in the right place. wondering if there is any diagrams or that on this site somewhere so i can see where its supposed to go, cant find any myself. the ppl in japan that made these cars obviously had smaller arms n hands then i do lol.
  15. Had an Apexi power FC but it got fried, Now i got a Vi-pec. Mark from Godzillar Motorsport tuned them both, an he recommened the vipec but he's the dealer so he probably wouldnt reccomend anything else. Nearly all tuners can tune Apexi's but not are all that familar with vipec. If the Car is tuned well dont think it Matters a great deal which ecu u opt for. The Vi-pec i got will plug straight in, but the one Mark has got in his drag car he had to wire. I personally had no issues with either ecu. Does anyone Know much about the self tuning ecu's? i heard a little bout them a while back but havent heard anything since.
  16. BAHAHA to going to the drags an NOT doin an 8000rpm clutch drop, done proabably bout a dozen of them at willow bank an neva had clutch problems with 275 tyres, i've neva changed the clutch myself but got a felling it may havebeen changed before it was imported.

  18. no it doesn't have neons, cops pick on me enough an driving on gravel roads they soon get smashed by rocks. But still think they look great on any car. But whether you like it or not skylines were designed an built by "rice burners" therfore they go in the "rice burner" catorgory

  20. hey thinkin i need an engine rebuild, compression tests perfect, but got a 27% leak down on one cylinder an 12% on another rest are fine. an the engine is rather fumey. so thinkin its the rings also down about 80 hp (from 385 to bout 305atw) but still runs perfect uses a lil bit of oil tho not excessive car was supposedly rebuilt about 27000km ago with cp pistons. just wondering which performance shops in SE QLD does good quality reliable rebuilds for upto 500hp atw without being rediculously expensive.
  21. new here, not sure if im in the right subsection or not,(tell me if im not) Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to change the wheel studs, took the wheel, brake caliper, main nut on axle, brake drum/disk off but cant get the hub off that holds the studs. used a puller but it pulled every thing else with it bearing ect got every thing to slide back on but still cant get the hub off the spline??
  22. thanks bloke good write up! i always put 5 L in my gtr, which is a bit over full but was told to by my mechanic, so there is always enough oil left in the sump when i'm thrashing it. the mechanic should know wot he's talkin about all he works on is skyline's. an their workshop has the quickest GTR in aussie land
  23. Had another look at the abs unit cant see a bleed nipple any where on it. ANY ideas??? if there is a bleed nipple on it can someone please post a pic.
  24. Go into 'settings' then 'cranking' and have a look at the 50deg and 80 deg settings. Change the 80deg to 9.0 and the 50deg to 10.0 and see if it starts easy for you. will this change the tune at all?? dont know much about tuning at all, just know it was dyno tuned for hours an was told that, down low on cruise he has kept it as lean as possible an at 20 psi its running rich but on its limit of knocking. an a slight change to the tune an the engine's buggered. still waiting on new coils should arrive any day they've bn sent. other wise i'll have to plan a trip back to brissy an let mark figure it out.

No not the starter motor, motor turns over quite easily for the first six attempts than starts to slow down as the battery gets flatter. just wont fire up. the reason i think it could be the coils is it runs fairly rough on idle after driving/thrashing it for a fair while, seems to miss a bit down low. only started doing it since i had a lot of work done to it boost turned up to 20 psi ect. the mechanic said the coils mightn't keep handling it. an that was his guess of the problem.
