  1. Knock sensors are only in a car to help protect the car from damage. The damage comes from the fuel not being a high enough octane, in japan they have 99% octane feul as standard, so when jap cars are out here and the fuel is of a much lower standard they require knock sensors to help stop pre and post detonation from happening. All high end jap cars have this not just skylines, so don't think it's a bad thing or something or anything to do with the computer.
  2. The buggatti vyron should clock that bike quite well. that's a car made for driving at 400klm every day, supposed to do 0-300klm in 8 seconds.
  3. I personnaly don't like the v35 all that much, the body could have been done much much better, it would have been better if the design was kept to the same designs as before but changed. If you look at all the skylines 31 32 33 34 they all have the same shape but all look different but you know that all of them are skylines, nothing else. With the v35 you first think of it's a 350z and then as it goes by you see the skyline word on the back and by then who could really care what it was. I know that you can get some bodykits for the v35 but it'd need a complete change in style to get some skyline style back into it. It's problem was/is the same as what subaru got with the My98/99/00 to 01/02/03 headlights pretty much everyone hated them and the new WRX cars don't sell all that great to let you know because of this. Also from what I've read the v35 has a weak engine nothing compared to the RB engines and on top of this there's no turbo this will be a major buyer killing point. From what I've heard there's going to be no v35 GTR and I don't think any skylines will have a turbo in them any more. Basicly the v35 is a dead car it won't sell all that well, and will kill the skyline brand completely the only thing to keep it going will be the old cars. Skylines to me are meant to be race cars for the street not some clapped out ripped off design with a crap enigne just to top the crap off. So no it doesn't thrill me that the v35 is here as is.
  4. Has anyone gone through SVi up in brisbane, to get a car? were they good etc?
  5. It's currently 10klms over and your ok, so do 111klms and you'll get done. I've done 115klm by a camera but it didn't go off, but I think it depends and how the cars are around you rather than them not clicking the camera. I think this may drop soon though not quite sure about that, to probabbly 8klm over same as WA. Also if your've just gooten your lic, and onto P's I think they give you 3 let offs, ie no letter after that your on your own. and 3 red light camera let offs, ah, I've somewhat tested that and didn't get a letter 2-3 times... though I wouldn't reckomend testing it out. it could also be 6 let offs on anything though.
  6. The range in general for a R33 seems to be $14,000 up to $40,000+ Generally though around the $20,000 $25,000 for a manual/turbo. Going less than that either means your buying a high milage car or it's getting old (coming up to 5-10 years old) Not really sure about mods etc, as it purely depends on just where you go and what sort of car is around, though if a car has mods then the prices just goes up. I've been looking Around in general haven't asked about anything thou, but that's the range from the ads I've seen. you might be better to just import a car, I think this can cut out some of the dealer costs and should get you some mods as well.
  7. Just to let you know there's no such thing as cop or "D" mags anymore they got rid of them because people were looking out for them. Over this year and last year they have been working to make the cars a lot harder to notice, so things like CD arials etc probabbly won't be on cars for much longer. Also I've never heard of WRX cop cars ever being in QLD, I know NSW and VIC tried them out but they took them off the road after 10 months, because their speed check thing in the car didn't work correctly and they had to give heaps of people back the money they had taken in fines. A cop car can't pull you over in front of you because they have to make a speedo check from the cop car, this is done for court. So if you were doing 110 in a 100 zone, they would have to follow you for so long to make the speedo check then they can pull you over the cop cars keep a record of the speeds they have been doing. That's one way of getting out of a fine, because if it's found that they weren't travelling at a proper speed etc then the fine could be dismissed. Also a normal cop car can only do 170Klms at the max before they have to drop of because the lights cause too much drag in undercover cop cars not sure. that's everything I've heard from a guy whose brother works as a cop in the roma st cop shop.
  8. Take a look at all the fuses looking for any brown oil/sludge/melted metal, in the fuse if it has that then replace it, that's something to also look for, as well as the metal bar being broken.
  9. The eletrical system will be shorting out somewhere, You'd need to take it to an auto electric's place to get it fixed properly. The other possiable fix, is to replace ALL the fuses in the car, I don't have a Skyline thou I do have a car that has the exact same problem, and it seems that if there's a dodgey fuse (the lucky option..) once it's replaced you'd have no problems. some fuses can brake but still work, the problem is though they can stuff up currents etc etc blowing other fuses. The other problem would be a wire touching a ground somewhere, one of the indicators might not be wired well and thus touch the metal, or it could be any wire in the whole car... thus requiring you to get it fixed properly at a shop.
  10. On the coast there could still be a dark red holden. Don't know anything else, In the city they have 2-3 souped up magnas, I think one has lights and nother is an under cover car. That's roma St police station, they also have 2-3 camera vans, and about 9 under cover cars all up there as well. Beenleigh has a few under cover cop cars you can see them sitting outside the station, they also have 1 camera van though it could be 2 now.
  11. You can check to see if that ABN number does in fact belong to the same company and person via the ATO, or Australian Tax Dep't website. You'd be looking for ABN business search etc... I'd question that website and they people running it, they probably couldn't afford to send you the parts seeing your in the USA? You'd have been better to goto a visable company, they don't have a shop and they are probably just running it out of a house on the Gold Coast, QLD. South of Brisbane if you want to look it up on a map.
  12. A question is this holden a V8? If so, don't worry you'll have it without any worries V8's always take a little while to wind up.
  13. A stock R33 is around 198kw, but with the mods etc, you should be close to the 250kw mark as well. It'll probably just be an even match.
  14. The launch of a WRX requires some knowalegde of where the power is... If the person doesn't know this then the launch of the WRX won't be good, and will be quite slack. A good launch in a WRX should snap your head back and keep it there till your hitting to 100Klm mark. Top speed for a stanard WRX is 205 1/4klm for auto. 230 for manual. Once they get to 195klm though they are basicly hard pressed to go much faster.
  15. SiksII The problem your going to face, is that your on a road that is sign posted as 50Klms only zone. It can be re-surfaced, concrated, buffed etc etc, made to have cars run on it at 400klms it doesn't matter, because the road is sign posted as a 50klm speed road. By what your saying is that it's ok, to do 106klms in a 50klm sign posted road, because A) the cops are just busting me because B) the road is re-surfaced and hey! they need a way to pay for it some how. If you said that in court you'd probabbly be called a dickhead and get your lic canned. As I said before you'd need to come up with some godd stuff to say just to get out of it. So far though, your saying you weren't thinking and so you weren't paying attenation to the road nor to how your were driving, and ended up doing 56klms over the speed limit. That's going to go really great guns. Because the judge is probabbly going to think that if someone came out in front of you you'd probabbly be dead or they be dead or both be dead. I think this calls for a lic canned ending. I'm not saying this to stir you, I'm just pointing at the very big hole in your thinking.
  16. esprit my brother 18 years old got done on the highway doing 174Klms and DUI. You will goto court it'll probably take 2 weeks to get seen too. You can take a court lawer or not up to you. My brother got 6 months suspension of lic and $680 fine. At your age and because you havn't had any previous DUIs, all you can really expect is to get out of doing communtinty service, and a fine around $500 $600 bucks, and a suspension of lic for 3 to 6 months. It'll purely depend on the judge at the time, some are easy some are really hard, some are a bit of both... You really only goto court if you really require your lic for work or something else that's important. That was in QLD. As to the guy in Sydney, you'll be F**ked anyway. You'll lose your lic for some time, anyway, you might get the fine reduced but I'd say that's about it. You'll just have to hope your good in court or can think quick to say the right things because you could just very well screw it all up, and the fine and time goes up or the lic is stopped completely. The reason is that your've run a red light this won't be looked on as a good thing, and yes they do check up on your complete piror driving history.
