hey man CARPRO PERL is probably too watery and thin, it didnt last very long at all! imo not the best stuff to use on tyres, but it does fine on plastics! the poor boys stuff is great though, even the gel is a breeze to apply compared to meguiars! the liquid stuff is also very easy to apply, easier than the gel, but gels generally last longer, so my recommendation is the poorboys gel! you could give what mitch recommended a go too

no worries mate, ill be giving 2 different poorboys stuff a go as well as Carpro PERL
-
^ good idea, i hate applying the meguiars stuff though! it gets horribly messy im using the hot shine tyre gel atm im just gonna buy some good stuff from waxit and ditch that
-
Xenit its great stuff also useful for any tough stains on fabric etc I use this for the more difficult stuff, but i try to use something like FI's GPC where I can, its just alot cheaper - not too sure what alternatives there are to this though but grab xenit, works wonders on stained tyres
-
you are a lucky man to get such nice cars to work with! congrats on another job well done
-
^ it only advertises 2 weeks on the site but i guess its better if lasts longer than they say, rather than a false claim for months I called up and had a chat with antonio - i might order a small bottle of poorboys gel and the normal poorboys just to see the difference in application and which i prefer more - their good for the price, carpro PERL by your recommendation is also usable on tyres apparently! ill have to see which i prefer. Keen to try out PERL though, seems like a really good product. Im using the meguiars gel stuff at the moment but thats a nightmare to apply, and the foam applicator pads keep breaking apart - the yellow/black bits dont stay together but also as a note applying Xenit to tyres definitely makes tyre shine stick on for longer btw anybody still use that $2 aussie export stuff? back in the day it used to last decently but the last few cans ive bought last all of .. 10 minutes ..

Jonno34 replied to StevenCJR31's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
is that brads 34 :S? I didnt know he was selling it -
ill get there someday haha got 2 VTEC Civics maybe for sale by some JDMWA members - but their only maybe for sale at this point - i have to try to convince owners after my exams finish there havent been any manual EG's for sale on gumtree while ive been on exams - hopefully therell be some new ones by the time i finish and brads 34 is tiptronic
-
The few cars ive driven with any form of tiptronic transmission ive been very dissapointed in, but they were mostly things like colt vrx's and stuff lol i still think a proper manual is far superior but its a decent compromise i guess. Ill send the guy a fb msg n let u no
-
yeap n/a + manual + coupe was quite hard to find i think all? of the 34s in auto have tiptronic but i actually have no clue, ive never driven one before, quite curious too actually, always wondered about the steering wheel controls I know someone with one though - I can ask if u want
-
I like the older ones actually .. the more square ones rather than the round ones plus my budgets like 4k max! the supra converted one would be quite fun i imagine btw DCimports had a wiideee range of skylines when i was there 3 years ago ... should be still the same Ive seen quite a few people recommending him too if im not wrong although at the time he was asking 20k for a n/a 4 door 34! I ended up getting mine for 15k imported - Carizma in melbourne had it, and I knew a mechanic in melb who was a friend of the owner .. but still go check em out
-
also check out auto trader magazine, and google for importers around perth I think autoworx, DC imports, .. theres tons really! btw what did ya think of the soarer v8? I was sorta considering getting one but tis auto, i like manual
-
^ thats a pretty cool car! dont see many of em around
-
nono trust me .. you dont want a non turbo its the slow I think you should go around and test drive some cars first then make your decision while the 34 looks nice - i sort of wish i got a less nice looking car with much nicer power but im attached and dont want to sell it have a drive of any suggestions in this thread you like the sound/look of, if you cant find a manual n/a 34 to have a drive of you can come have a feel of mine someday if you like - if you wait awhile there'll be new coilovers in too but make sure to drive a turbo! its important to know what you'd be sacrificing

i is scared of unrego still stuck on exams i shall go hunting again after i still needa register on Silvia WA

unfortunately most normal detailers dont quite the terminology right, as do the off the shelf companies and my workplace also refers to paint correction as "buffing the paint" I really wish there was some way of separating detailers from .. car cleaners :S? I applied at my workplace thinking I would be doing the sorts of things I normally do from home, instead I find myself applying crappy products I dont even know the purpose of and worrying about the swirl marks and other damage I'm doing to some poor unsuspecting customers car. There is a vast difference between the two worlds. But a jobs a job and I need some stable income autosmart is definitely not one of my favourite brands - but we use it at work. i especially dislike their polishes/waxes - tbh i dont even know what they do anymore ... but I guess its cheap lol? in the end of the day we all get quite good results, regardless of our understandings of the products we use .. I do wish companies would label things correctly though! its frustrating for those who know better and those who dont, wont fully get to understand what their doing.

Adam could you just give a rough outline of your procedure/products are and brief explanations of the product? Most people i know go wash, clay block, machine polish, seal or wax (lots of other small important steps in between but thats the rough outline of it) in my experience ive found the machine polish to remove all swirl marks and not leave any more behind/create swirl marks - how many stages of paint correction do you go through? for a heavily swirled car a heavy cut and a medium cut will remove almost all swirl marks, and its followed by a extra fine cut to enhance shine and whatnot. It could be that you are using a hand polish for this extra fine cut? If so - use your RO! far easier and much better results I dont think you really need any more cutting compound after a machine polish, just wash it off, apply something like FI Cleanse, and then seal it up!
-
There was a n/a S13 being sold for 2k - manual, good condition, aircon, stock It got sold within one day though But if you keep looking you will find something! I havnt yet ... BUT I WILL!! eventually...

Adam dya mean Waxing when you say hand polish? Ie meguiars tech wax/turtlewax that sort of stuff cos the detailer I work at and most off the shelf products call what is really a wax a polish - it kind of sounds better doesnt it You said you are finishing it off with a hand polish so that suggests to me a wax. Its a common mistake, but to me at least the final coat of product you apply to a car for gloss and protection is called a sealant or a wax. A polish is the cutting compound you use to perform paint correction. (Please correct me if i'm wrong but after 3 years of detailing and learning from detailing enthusiasts and experts that is my understanding of it!) But what i think Mitch means to say is that a hand polish (in correct terms/my understanding of it - would be applying cutting compound with a simple foam pad and trying to perform paint correction by hand) is nowhere near as effective as paint correction performed with a machine. It would also be redundant to perform a hand polish after having completed a polish using a machine (I only do this for small areas that could not be reached by my machines 190mm pad). So by his understanding (if he goes by my definitions of wax/polish) a hand polish after paint correction etc etc is redundant/incorrect However by your definitions, a hand polish is definitely important to finish off a full detail since it provides extra gloss and protection! Therefore this is all a big misunderstanding due to mixed up definitions of the term wax/polish, which is none of our faults given the labeling of some off the shelf products. For example turtlewax ice "polish" is a wax, probably a synthetic wax. Meguiars compound is a REAL polish/cuting compound. Meguiars deep crystal polish - is more of a glaze than a polish imo it had no effects on swirl marks whatsoever on my car As for using sandpaper on cars - I have no clue, it would scare the sh** out of me to do so. Never had a car bad enough that it would need such treatment anyway! Hope this will help clear things up and diffuse the situation

I think hand polish = wax but glad you said it
