  1. Lil help guys i'm in the skyline section, and with owning a stagea its the first time i have stepped foot in this part of the forum - so go easy please. i'm fitting s13 coilovers to my bluebird but came unstuck as the tie rods on the 910 are different to the s13 hubs (they are tapered not straight) easiest fix is fit s13 tie rods but they are too short and a theread is different - apparently the same as the r31. i have noticed that a lot of r31 guys have used these in the past to fit bump steer adjustable s13 ends on lowered cars but i am looking for locally made parts in adelaide which are to engineer specs, i can lathe some up but i doubt they will be strong enough and rather not risk it. the other options are to taper drill the s13 items to suit the 910 ends but this means i will never be able to get bump steer adjustment and be stuck with the phasing out of the 910 items forever (try finding a 910 trx oil guage sender - IMPOSSIBLE) and i cant find the right spec drill bit for under $150. also i will be restricted with fitting a ca18 crossmenber and powersteering if/when i ditch the z18et project for a ca18 (coz its better with power steering) so r31 boys where do you go for adaptors? Thanks

    Tyre Pressure

doubt you can get a 100% seal but is it because nitrogen molecules are bigger or something, like how helium will escape a latex baloon but not air? but the 75% nitrogen thing refered to normal air in the atmosphere, no one picked it up... hmmmmm - dont give up my day job eh?

    Tyre Pressure

36 psi cold for 17 inch wheels, but every tyre is different higher pressures, better response lower pressures better grio but this does not mean that 22 psi handles better than 36psi thats just stoopid - thought i'd throw that in just incase someone tries it... also i have about 75% of my tyre filled with nitrogen from the servo
  5. wait until you take off your wing mirrors to find that they fitted sponge behind them great for breeding rust!
  6. book a tour at the coopers brewery. proceeds go to charity and only costs $20 or something and about $20 cab fare from the city unless you bus it. takes you for a tour round the site and after you try each of the beers - best to take a bus or cab home again but great fun! but coz your down for the 500 Hutt street (in the city- they close it off for a street party) is fairly nice after the race to have a nice alfresco meal with some of the Barossa's finest reds. Adelaide is a bad place to visit - but a great place to live
  7. Be easier to bottleneck the city if the clipsal is on, half the roads are closed anyway AND the nation will be watching
  8. Will print, distribute and display. I'll also put this link on some other forums to if i may Edit: if i attend the meet i might take the stocker stagea due to the "sporty alternative" subject to overheating upon reading the plan is to grind city traffic to a halt...
  9. just fit an immobiliser and alarm with remote central locking (should be doing this regardless) no special nissan key needed - my special nissan key is now kept in the undies drawer
  10. when the 4th last digit on the ODO is a 5 - dump oil and put in new when its a 0 change filter and dump oil replace etc 5000km oil changes 10000km filter changes easier to remember this way
  11. thanks to those who have made useful contributions. it was great help in weighing up my options overall it seams the best way to improve fuel economy for my particular situation is to sell the stagea. the plan is to sell the stag and hopefully trade it in for a new swift for the mrs - i'll keep the laser. this justifies letting me have a motorbike and installing a ca18det into my bluebird. sad to see her go, just yesterday i carted 2 peach trees wrapped up in tarps to the dump in it! but where we are in life - there is no room for a stagea also. on a side note - silver S2 Stagea for sale 17's, 3 inch fujitsubo, cat and front pipe, touch screen lcd/navman/tv/stereo, roofracks........ and i just ordered slotted front rotors...
  12. i admit the times it went under 10/L was 100km ph, 12`c ambient temp, 4am, hay plains no wind, cruise control but was carrying stuff on roof, 3 very tired Moto GP fans, a full boot of tents, pots and err other things, and no one to follow to break up the air a little 3 1/2 tanks round trip too and from phillip island in total - melbourne destroyed our figures and thats the problem
  13. I guess i must make this clear, i am not after a performance upgrade although retaining its current performance is highly sought i'm up for making the stagea into a more viable option for daily duties when compared to selling. the appeal of the stagea in terms of its functionality holds significant weight already the good ol search function had some great info and i have been recommended some people to have a chat with. I am happy for more opinions but its about time i speak to some experts about making it happen it is a avenue i am willing to explore further.
  14. i guess (with searching) if anyone knows a gas place in adelaide with half a brain who can do a LiLPG or a dam good gas conversion otherwise, feel free to PM me. nth to central to east suburbs, but willing to travel for good workmanship.
  15. reading the m35 gas thread $5000 initial outlay for a liquid gas injection system is a bit steep (using the thread as reference) but so is nistune, intercooler, and anyother tricks to lower consumption down to a level which is considered the stageas besf but far from viable. anyone had experience with gas installations on stageas/r34s? yes i will loose a bit of boot space, but our dog is small
  16. ive always realised the stagea was thirsty, unfortunately i am realising that it will always be thirsty might just do a dump pipe with a new panel filter upon cam belt and water pump service, bung in the nistune and a 440 fuel pump, r34 fmic and front and rear kings and live with it for a few more years . or go m35 axis - it is starting to look like a realistic option now...
  17. I totally agree and that has been apparent since the day i got it. Has been the chink in the stageas armour for us. gets 9's and 10's on long trips but the stop start kills it. just bizarre that a 2.5 (yes it is pulling some weight i know) can consume so much fuel, its almost mythical! I sometimes think I must have a hole in my tank
  18. all the small tricks have been done like platnum plugs, regular servicing o2 sensor, cleaned this and that... but in adelaide crossing the nth suburbs to the eastern, you hardly get a free run of traffic to reduce consumption, it is very stop start and after fitting the boost guage i noticed that alot of the time it is giving boost even under light throttle, hence finding that throttle control to keep it out of boost greatly assists. it is also an auto and manual is not an option, the mrs doesn't drive manual (and tears me up inside) i'm just wanting to know what the next step is to improve economy and is it worth it - i'll do it to keep the car but if the gains are small for the cost, i'm better off selling it thanks for the replies so far
  19. amber (mrs) and i are looking for a new car for her, i have a project car already whitch is nothing much, but its mine. There is a bit of jelousy as she drives the stagea which i chose to buy, i drive and abuse her old laser and we are looking to giver her own car. we have narrowed her choice down to a swift - $13k done, but it means i have to say bye to the $40 per week bomb i curently dive and have to drive the stagea to work. i travel 50kms city in 1 day and at the stageas current fuel economy (city 350k per 68 litre tank consistently w highflow cat, 3 inch zorst, new o2 sensor) i cant see this being a good idea (she drives the stagea about 10kms per day and sometimes for work - this will change with the new car) as its going to cost us a fortune! i know there have been plenty of statements that a nistune gives better power and through the better power delivery the side benefit of better fuel economy under harder driving compared to factory tunes, but its the less fuel i'm after is at low boost low rev siuations and its this i am a little unsure the nistunecan deliver - i dont want to upgrade fuel pumps, injectors an put in a front mount and put down 300kw, so is the nistune going to give better fuel economy for just general driving? fit a dump to the 3 inch exhaust to assist in efficiency, dont know if this would have a great deal of effect on the current consumption but willing to consider if there is enough support or opinion. is it worth going from 98 ron to 95 ron to save a bit more $$$? can you fit a fun switch to cut boost and let it drive a bit more sedate or return to factory boost when needed, and will this even have an effect on fuel consumption? i have noticed that driving it so it is constantly under vacume and not boost it kinda saves a bit more fuel, this is hard to do in peakhour traffic though. what else could i do to better the economy? so absolute performance is not key. the stagea does everything including emptying my pocket but it eats road on long hauls, feels safe, fits everything in it and tows anything! If i cant make it better i'll have to sell it and get a stupid commodore, magna or falcon wagon - i'd rather not though... i want to keep it but if it is going to be a drain on $$$ through fuel i have to downgrade. help me save the stagea
  20. having more than one car is good for me as i have a never ending project car - and i live far from where i work. the daily is cheap, reliable and comfortable , the project car the complete opposite. its good for me because i have become attached to my car (was my first ever) and i can't get rid of her, therefore i need a daily to ensure she is safe and can do what i need to when i need to. space, garages and shelter proves a problem, i am lucky as the project car lives at my dad's in his garage althoguh after moving out of home i am faced with the delema of safe secure storage, and that costs a bucket for what i want to do. it also limited our options for housing due to my dream of a "MANLAND". needed to find a place with rear yard access and a large enough block - hard to do for cheap i can definately see the value in one nice car to drive everyday - and possibly this will happen once the young are spawned, but at the moment i see greater value and enjoyment in having 2 cars. also insurance becomes more affordable the more cars you throw on a policy (for some companies) all my cars except the stagea are with shannons which will be turned over once they can match the rate for justcars - and should considereing now i have 2 other cars with them and better security and shelter.
  21. http://www.fw1.com.au/ ^^^ i use this stuff Nightcrawler put me on to it when i bought some old mags off him you need to keep applying it every few weeks to keep the lenses sparkly but is paintwork safe. i even use it as a wax on my old bluey and will spray on wax off as opposed to washing it! does chrome, bumpers - basically anything you can think of except glass - because it is a wax...
  22. What did i do lately? got pissed and watched a STIG DVD in the car! climbed out at 2am (go the cupholders!) and left the interior lights on, had to leave it on charge overnight to get enough back in the cells to start it. it was discovered by the mrs who called after i had already made it to work complaining that the doors wont open and is making a siren noise... oops! hpefully the cahrge will build up again and i haven't killed the battery, i'll find out in 3 hours when the mrs goes to leave from work LOL
  23. my biggest regret was getting a stagea without twin sunroofs whichever one you get consider it. i went for a stock s2 over a days s1 because of power and looks, but i miss the sunroofs above anything else
  24. almost a repeat of the above the 4wd although will cost a bit more with running costs is very impressive especially when things to get slippery i took my S2 to Phillip island from adelaide with a full boot and 3 mates. consumption got down to the 9's. And thets pretty good for a c34! the 4wd came into its own at the island - rained the whole weekend (except raceday) and by day 3 i was one of a few who was able to drive out the campgrounds through the mud, even 4wd hiluxes got bogged, the stag "sailed through" well 4wd drifted like on ice (diff lock and snowmode FTW) but it was AWESOME fun. when you need the 4wd - especially with off road - you will be happy you have it. i have aftermarket cruise and will cost you about $600-$800 (as you need the one with the electronic stepper motor) but the throttle has provision for a cruise already somedays i do miss manual but the tiptronic is pretty good in the s2 - has its advantages - apparently a shift kit is the go to get more out of the auto but i have left it stock as i have to resist spending $$$ and keep it a wife friendly daily. insurance as mentioned above will vary however look for about $1000 a year i am trying to convince the mrs that we need a m35 and i want to upgrade because the c43 is getting a little dated but i have driven and owned a few cars in my time and the c34 for the $$$ you cant go wrong. its almost a bargain really. Happy hunting
  25. i'm guessing power button is limited to the s1's? my s2 doesn't have it but it does have the tiptronic. next question, when the titronic is on does it speed up shifts despite it being in d or being shifted with the stick instead of buttons? never experimented with it but always wandered if it sharpens up shifts or not...
