  1. So come visit sometime mate, or call and I'll head on in. Or am I too cool to hang out with?
  2. Keep up the good work mate. Zero happening here. Nerve damage has turned my brain to mush. I'll just live it through your build.
  3. Can't say I've seen any difference. Just use 2 x 25 tensioners as you can have too little slack with the high tensioner/low idler location. There is no need for a difference as they do exactly the same job. Don't buy from Nissan but go to rolling bearings or somesuch. Should be about $120 for the pair.
  4. Pfft, you still peddling that rubbish mate? I got seriously wasted by Russ (Giant) at the last track day I attended. I had the GTR out on TT RE55s and he had the R35 and took 3 seconds off me totally stock. Mind you my left leg wouldn't work in hard cornering right handers so I've hung up the racing hat for safety. And no, I haven't seen anything nice lately except a 98 M3 I might grab. Still an awesome quality machine.
  5. Alex, probably about as good a choice as can be made on a budget. I've been considering a 350Z version 3 convertible. The early models were harsh in the suspension, but the latest model is sweet and has a superb engine. On the basis of logic that all good things in the zeds come from Skylines first the earlier V35s would be pretty nice for a daily, easy on fuel if you control the right foot and sporty enough when you need it. I was looking at the 350GTs but decided I'd take a splash in a drop top for a while, unless I go a V8 Cima....
  6. Jeremy, in response to your message, either of those can be highly recommended. Remember to be a meticulous as you can with what you want from the engine, then of course get written quotes, as with any workshop. Dan is fairly mobile and some work can be done at your place or somewhere flat, like a mates garage, but is putting up a big shed to work in. Mick is all in house and has impressed with good tuning. Otherwise I do all my own engine building so really can't recommend any other places. Also both places are frequented by mates and are friends with plenty in the SAUQld club.
  7. Why not to use an RB30 oil pump... well it's just a bit skinny. Restrictors will be good with the 25/26 pump. Don't need to drop the CR at all so just use a single factory 25 head gasket. The collar is a damn good idea, and Nissan eventually made it standard across all RBs I know of after the 33GTSt and later model GTR32s to give a wider oil pump drive.
  8. That's awesome isn't it? This newer generation of cars are really eclipsing the previous generation.
  9. Good idea. BTW Michael, I have an intake as you are looking for in your sig, just no IAC block, but I barely use the one on the 26/30. Only really idle control and a 25 one could be adapted I think.
  10. That usually has a pressed in steel hose with a Y sort of shape for the heater return and I think the throttle water heater return or something. I guess you could live without it if you had to. When the water gets hot enough the thermostat opens and flows to the radiator top tank.
  11. Geezus Audi are serious about attacking Porches market sector aren't they? Good to see though. Saw my first on the GC yesterday with ISMINE plates. Very low and wide hipped. Makes it a very serious looking car. So how was the drive Snowy? We had Mark and Russ show up at our recent Nissan Track day a couple of weeks back with the R35. I didn't see it run as I was in the same session that Russ took it on the paper clip and he pulled a 57s on the Sprint layout, with 4 wet corners a 1, 2, 4 and 5, and 1 inch of lying water between 3-4, on standard factory rubber. I think I'll have to hock the 40ft yacht off and get one. BTW this old cripple could only manage 1.01s in the same session.
  12. Deren, missed your call earlier mate. I'll try call you back tomorrow. Must be time to hassle you about getting this finished
  13. Just pay for it, it is awesome with it all unlocked and it's the easiest online racing about.
  14. Morning?? Haven't seen one of those for a while.
  15. Just spoke to John who is not online atm. $1200 for the lot plus shipping. Call him if interested. And I can highly recommend Johns rubber. Very happy with what I got.
  16. As already stated, I have found no differences between the 25 and 26 pump. Flow rate is listed as the same, visually they are the same. Just strip it and check the clearances, assemble with loctit on the screws, do the drive extension on the crank and enjoy.
  17. N1 is far more brittle and more prone to failure if you hit the rev limiter, and you just don't need that extra oil pressure which is simply sucking power, as well as too much pressure can strip the white metal out of the bearings so the stock 25/26 pump is more than you need for up to 700hp.
  18. Same pump as best as I could find. Same flowrate and didn't appear to have any physical differences.
  19. A bit like Nissan Belconnen ACT refusing to sell me a 26 head gasket in 99 because mine wasn't a local car. We have long memories about that crap. I swear they are like little kiddies in the playground. When I buy a GTR35 it won't be a locally delivered detuned peice of crap, and given I'm more than capable of my own spanner swinging I certainly would never need their crapola sevice monkeys.
  20. Oh and one more point. I will also be in the market for a Skyline V37 370GT convertible when available. They will be released in America next year at around $40K+. Sweet looking 4 seater drop top with 3.7 litre engine. Nissan are considering selling the G37 here as an Infinity but I'm assuming that it will have to pull over $80K to be profitable against the local protected market, much like the 350Z. What a load of HOT C*CK!!!
  21. That list DRIFTT is why I stopped importing cars. The government was lobbied so hard by Conomos from Toyota to stop allowing these deathtraps in that the legislation went over the top. Funnily enough Toyota Japan raised an eyebrow at their vehicles being included in the deathtrap list and Conomos went quiet but the damage was done. Now we have ministers saying we cannot afford to allow the car builders to fold in this country. I was a Defence Weapons Systems Project manager and we had certain interventions into acquisitions where the government decided we needed to retain a capability to manufacture weapons mobility platforms here. We don't in either case and it steers our economy in the wrong way, as well as inflation. If we were ever desperately in need of either we could soon ramp up the manufacture, but instead we have to wear unrealistic car prices. Just quickly work out what a car sells for in Japan or America. Then ask why we need to pay nearly double. I'm in the market for a 350Z convertible right now, but $80K on road is a bit steep so I'm looking second hand, 2 years old and almost half that price. I'd be in the market for a GTR35 as well but again, the duties and taxes blows them out of the water for my current budget allowance. Our Government is protecting us from a threat we don't have to worry about, and we get to pay for it. FFS a production line worker is semi skilled labour and yet they get premium pay which new car owners have to suck on and like it if they want a new car. How is it semi skilled labour can earn as much or more than credentialed professionals who also have to carry a legal liability burden for their work and decisions? And to balance it a bit more their way they would simply hurt the economy further. No longer do you have to work and study and improve to make a decent quid. Just be a production line worker and you can pull as much or more. We deserve cheaper cars in our market, but luckily for us our government is saving us from that by protecting the local industry.
  22. Brad Thanks for the invitation. The official club has been forced to move offsite due to being overmoderated and unduly targetted by some of the moderators here. You are welcome to post the invite in the club website and forums at www.sauqld.com Cheers Geoff SAUQld President 2008
  23. I looked long and hard at that 26/25 setup as a solution after fitting twin turbos and wanting the TBs on the 25 head, but in the end I went on to a straight up forged bottom end 26/30 with 9.0:1CR in the GTS25t. Still TT but running a single Z32 AFM, and doesn't need at IAC setup at all. Made 160rwkw with no turbo boost running through it. Yet to tune but it only cost about 7K all up done by myself and paying a premium on some parts due to time limitation and late change of setup. I'd do it again, and will when the GTR need a rebuild. [edit] engine is 26/30 not 25/30
  24. Everge, make sure you send Colin that exact email. They need direct feedback or the heads will stay firmly planted in rectum.
  25. Saw a couple of nic cars under my butt yet again. Bently Continental GT W12 Twin Turbo goodness. Oh My God what an engine And the Maserati Quattroporte. 4.2litres of 400hp goodness. Such an awesome family saloon. I loved them both, and seriously considered leaving P1 with the GTR and not coming back But there are others yet to sample (hopefully) and I love the GTR too much. P1 membership has so much going for it that buying just 1 supercar is pointless.
