  1. Depends where in Japan, stops and the weather obviously, but I'd say a up to about three weeks to Brisbane from JP.
  2. Unless someone corrects me, I don't think it's possible to use the Alpine stacker on that headunit. For the ipod, I know that they sell Eclipse adapters which allow you to hook up a ipod through the CD stacker input on the headunit (eg: like this one), otherwise you can get a 3.5mm to aux adaptors (which are probably cheaper than the other one, but obviously you wouldn't get charging, etc which the other one offers).
  3. http://www.mongoose.com.au/car-security/in...product_id=M80G It's a good alarm, and will meet your needs.
  4. http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RAWPubSearch.asp Select Nissan, and then Skyline R33. Might also help to throw in the state if you want. This will give you a list of compliance workshops, which are required as part of the import process. Have a chat to some of them and they can probably get you in touch with an importer. Otherwise, the usual suspects in regards to import brokers (ie sourcing the vehicles from overseas) and can assist with the whole process include J Spec, Carizma, Prestige Motorsports, Imports 101, etc etc.
  5. - What sound deadener should I purchase? Whatever's within your budget... Stinger, Jaycar, Dynamat, etc - How and where should I install it in the boot of my R33? All throughout. If you're doing it specifically to stop a problem area, figure out where that is first. Trunk lid, the inner panels, boot floor, etc. - Will this actually stop the vibration from outside of my car? Also will it improve the already great bass inside of the car? Yes
  6. Optimas are usually pretty hardy. We've had one in car that's only been started probably once every six months and it's usually ine. That 'ticka-ticka' sound is the immobiliser kicking in because there's not enough juice from the jump start to get things going. When you start the donor car, wait a few min before you attempt to jump your car. Easiest solution is to pop into the shops and pick up a cheap battery charger. You can get them for around $20 and it will charge it up so you can start the car.
  7. Yeah that's good price. Where'd you pick that up from?
  8. Genre of music, the quality of the source (ie what quality mp3, CD, etc), speaker types, speaker locations, amp types and wiring configs, tuning of the system, etc are all things you could look at...
  9. Doran (Bankstown), FHRX (Caringbah), Platinum Car Audio (Rydalmere), Precision Car Audio (Carlton), etc etc. All good at what they do, but it really depends what you want. Take the time, call or visit them to get an idea if they can match your expectations. BTW, you'd be surprised at the prices that places like these car do on equipment. It's not as bad as some think. I had previously bought stuff overseas, but I've since discovered that local prices can be cheaper if you look hard enough. Plus if you're getting an installation done, you're more likely to be able to get discounts on parts anyway.

  11. Fantastic work. I'm going to sticky this. Thanks for taking the time to document this =)
  12. Throw in a good deep-cycle battery and you'll right..at the very least if you've still got the pissy little Jap battery, bin it and fit a decent one
  13. I don't think he's talking about a FOB car Chris, but one that's just got compliance plates from the RAWS. Depends on your state. In NSW you are allowed to drive an unregistered car specifically for the purposes of acquiring registration (eg to get a blue slip, to a weighbridge, to the RTA, etc). Has to be via the most direct route and you should keep paperwork with you at all times in case you get pulled over.
  14. No problems mate. But to be fair, if you haven't listened to the rainbow or DD gear, you should definitely check it out...they both manufacture some fantastic gear. You should also check out the Car Audio Australia forums at http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au - I would rate that as one of the better local sources of information on car audio gear.
  15. Abusive comments removed. Please keep it on topic, otherwise more warnings will be given. BTW, welcome to the boards Phil (from an old CAA user ) Hope you stay around!
