  1. Thanks for responses guys! I'll also be interested to see what you come up with R31Nismoid. Mine doesn't seem quite that terminal as yet - feels a bit vague every so often and after driving for around an hour, I find that low speed full-lock turning (parking building style) feels lumpy like the pump is struggling to provide power assistance and the rack sometimes groans loudly while doing so! Doesn't display these symptoms when the car is cold however.... I drive around 500km a week though, so I'd like it to remain reliable...hence - fix the problem before it becomes a big problem!
  2. Hey all, Just looking for some recommendations on where to take my R32t to have it's power steering inspected and repaired (may need new rack/pump recoed) - preferably in the SE suburbs. I'd like to take it somewhere that works on imports and as such will be familiar with the p/s system and also knows where to get parts at reasonable prices etc. Thanks!
  3. Awesome, thanks again for the replies - I'll have the car checked out by a suspension place to confirm condition of the rack & pump. I just like to have an idea of what I'm talking about before I take my car anywhere!
  4. bump! I'd still love more opinions on this one - if it helps, the steering only seems to make the noise when the car has been driven for a while (30mins or longer). ...thx
  5. Hey predator, thanks for the response! I think you may be right, I had a look under the car last week and noticed the boots were a bit oily....I thought it might've been coming from somewhere else though as I don't seem to be losing power steering fluid or at least if I am it's certainly at a very slow rate.. hmmm, any idea much a reco R32 steering rack is likely to cost and where would I find such an item if I need one? Hey, while we're here - my front brakes also creak really bad when I push the pedal in (I've got the std 4 piston sumitomo calipers), do you reckon my calipers might be stuffed as well? My discs and pads are quite worn, but I wouldn't expect them to cause this noise... thx!
  6. Hey all, The steering in my R32 groans terribly when turning at low speeds and is now accompanied by a worrying (but fortunately occasional) thumping sound when you rock the wheel back and forth around the centre point while stationary.....The pump doesn't seem to be leaking, and I've tried adding Nulon power steering treatment which seems to stop the noises for a couple of months, only to come back as bad as it was before....Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks!
  7. Hi DezertEagle, I bought one of the ARC sidemount coolers secondhand for my '32 GTS-t and reckon they're brilliant. Much less restriction then the std core and apparently these things are easily good for 200kW at the wheels, you also have the added bonus that you retain standard look/intake tract length. Fitment was relatively easy, you have to remove the front bar, front stone gaurd and LHS front mudguard to get access. The major issue I found is that because the cooler is twice as wide as the standard item, the back of the core sits right against the plastic mudguard, you have to be careful not to damage the fins when refitting the gaurd, as my cooler was secondhand it already showed signs that the previous owner had the same issue. I ended up modifying some of the mounting points on my mudgaurd to prevent it pressing hard against the core and at the same time widened all the vents on it so as to allow as much airflow as possible through the core.
  8. Hi mate, very interested in a shoft shift kit for an R32, add me to the list! Thanks.
  9. Hey Jimbo2000, I've also got an HKS actuator for sale - used once only, currently on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...ssPageName=WDVW
  10. predator, you are wrong - my '92 R32 GTS-t, and nearly every other one I've ever seen have had 4 piston brake calipers as standard, not 2.... The caliper I am referring to has the silver NISSAN logo on the front, Sumitomo stamped onto the body, and are the same as used on the Z32 300ZX and the S14 200SX.
  11. Hey funkymonkey, any idea where to get those nismo R32 headlight inners as in those pics, they look fantastic!
  12. Hi Ronin 09, I had a similar problem with my R32 GTS-t, the driver side rubber was torn in the top corner...I bought a perfect condition second-hand one for around $60 including shipping from GTR Shop: www.gtr.co.nz Try them, I found their service to be excellent, they're in New Zealand but I still got the rubber 3 days later.
  13. Hi, As per post title, I'm looking to buy an R32 boot lid in good condition with either the spoiler holes welded up or no holes to begin with, doesn't matter what colour it is. Thanks!
  14. 6'2", R32 GTS-t, no sunroof and don't have any head clearance problems. I find the car just right inside, I sit quite upright with the seat height set low at the back and higher at the front, my knees do come a little close to the steering wheel in this position, but it's the comfiest seating position, so I don't care!!
  15. Hey cool, there's a pic of my car in there!! (Grey R32t) Nice pics, RedlineGTR!
  16. stu_r30 - That'd be benny's DR30 in the For Sale section. You're correct, it is a very nice car, gotta love that colour too! Ghostrider - I believe that grey DR30 in HPI #43 has now been sold for $9,900, check the Autostyle website: http://www.autostyle.com.au/cars_engine.asp If I'm not mistaken, it's the third last Nissan in the list.
  17. Bump! I have personally seen and driven benny's DR30 on numerous occasions since he imported it....A very unique car, it really looks fantastic in the midnight purple - the pics don't do it justice though, here's some better ones. good luck with the sale benny!
  18. Mine also has the fins on the brake calipers and are stamped 'Sumitomo', it's a '92 GTSt Type-M...My friend used have an R32t as well, its brakes were identical to mine....The only other brakes I've ever seen on a '32 are the puny GTS style and the big GTR ones...wierd
  19. It's up to you man, the FCD was okay on mine until I started fiddling around with new mods, at which point - like I said, it was touchy to readjust. With a different turbo bolted on, you're likely to see more decent, reliable power gains from either a modified/dyno tuned RB20 ECU or an aftermarket job such as those you mentioned, and yeah another major benefit is then you can set boost/rev limits wherever you want, but it all depends on what you can afford.
  20. Hey guys, doglet - You're telling me mate!! I thought I'd f**ked the car right up first time it happened!! VLRB20DET - Presuming you're using the R32 RB20DET ECU/Airflow meter and not a custom setup, you will be able run the Turbosmart fuel cut defender I gave a link for earlier, worth about $200 if I recall correctly. Some useful info about FCDs from my personal experience - the boost cut occurs on the RB20DET when the voltage coming from the air flow meter to the ECU exceeds a particular value (5.05V?), what the fuel cut defender does is clamp the voltage seen by the ECU from the air flow meter to an adjustable amount, usually just below the cut voltage....So just be careful if you do get one as they can lean out the fuel mixtures too much in the upper rev range if not adjusted correctly, many tuners view them as a bit of a band-aid solution and prefer to modify the ECU to remove such cuts....more expensive though!
  21. Doesn't actually sound like you've hit the cut as yet as in my experiences with boost cut on my R32 GTSt, it's quite violent....ie. you'll know when you've hit it.....Forget falling back to 12psi, you lose all power until you take your foot off the accelerator!! You can get a fuel cut defender to stop this, Turbosmart make one specifically designed for the R32 RB20DET: http://www.turbosmart.com.au/fuel_cut_defenders.htm (see bottom of the page, I have one and can verify that they work...bit touchy to tune tho!) Sounds more like your boost control setup and/or the wastegate not being unable to hold all the way up the rev range.....For reference, I used to run 16psi through my steel wheeled R32 turbo without any falling back even at 7000rpm, but that was using a solenoid controlled bleed valve. Also bear in mind the ceramic turbo tends to fail fairly quickly at these kind of boost levels.
  22. Hey Munna, great result! I had limited success with the BOV mod (I tried it after removing my atmo bov), seemed to hold boost a little better and opened up later - but I ended up reverting back because on my car it also caused infrequent part throttle surging. So many people have had totally different results from doing this mod.....it's interesting, I wouldn't mind trying the 'Dodge Garage' BOV mod as described in the third article I posted earlier, but haven't had the inclination as yet!!
