2008+ V36 Skyline 370Gt 4-Door - Wanting To Buy
The Max replied to pantad's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Exactly what Skylinetragic said. That's why you can still import an R35 dating as far as February 2009 because Nissan Australia only brought them in from March 2009 onwards, from memory. -
V36 Needs New Rotors.. Will These Work?
The Max replied to projectx's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
As it is the 2008 G37 equivalent, it will use the same discs according to the DBA catalogue (it says 2008+). Again, I would advise you look up your FSM though to be sure the dimensions are the same. -

Never tried Hawk pads so I can't say. EBC have been my winning formula for a while so I've seen no reason to change. -

I agree with Sonic. It will be an exercise in patience but it will also be well worth it. When I signed on with Prestige Motorsports in April 2011, it wasn't until November 2011 that we landed the car that met all my criteria. It had to be a 2009 SP coupe model or newer, pearl white exterior, black interior, no sunroof, colour-coded rear wing that spanned the width of the boot lid, less than 25000kms and grade 5A. Geoff was absolutely upfront about it and told me that it would probably take a long while to find the right one and he was right but it was really worth the wait. The only thing I did exercise a little flexibility on was the interior trim, which I originally planned to be silver but instead went for woodgrain and it actually looks quite nice. It just needs a little contact adhesive as the door's laminates have come unstuck for whatever reason. I'll be working on it when the door trims come off for the speakers. -

I was finishing up a long day at work (2am) and quite frankly, nothing surprises me with product names these days. Forgive my retarded thought processes. -

I rate the DBA 4000 discs wholeheartedly. I had them on my Maxima with a set of EBC RedStuff pads and they were fantastic. I even have them on my BA Falcon wagon, though it only gets the Bendix Ultimate pads. The DBA and EBC RedStuff take my abuse very well, unlike my previous combination of DBA 4000 and EBC GreenStuff. That resulted in the pads only lasting me about 13000km and warping the front discs from overheating. Yes, I am a spirited driver. Once my pads and discs need replacing in my V, I'll be whacking in EBC RedStuff and DBA4000 discs in, for sure. -

Should I? If I want performance gains, I'll bolt on a supercharger eventually. That's partly why I got the UpRev Osiris. I just want a nice note. -

If your V36 is a USDM 2009+ model equivalent, then I recommend the DBA 4000T3 series. They have the 42314S (front) and 42315S (rear) which are a very nice slotted disc and no, you won't get raped if you find yourself a reputable parts supplier. These are listed for the "Infiniti G37 Sport Package (355mm front)" in DBA's international catalogue but they are available locally from DBA so your supplier can definitely order them in. After all, they're all made in Australia before they get shipped to the US anyway! These are the identical discs listed for the 370Z with Brembo brakes. They measure in at: ---------- Diameter - Height - Thickness 42314 - 354.6 - 49.5 - 32 42315 - 350 - 62 - 20 Do your homework on the dimensions though as I don't see any further data about them, regarding thicknesses, hub heights, etc. I got my V36 only in February this year and I haven't driven it since April so I haven't got access to my FSM from here to see what the Nissan specifications are. And if anyone challenges what I'm saying about their availability, I'll personally kick their arse. I had a very short argument with my usual brakes supplier because he had a young punk who thought he knew everything and figured I couldn't be trusted. With so many idiot customers out there ruining it for the rest of us, I can't say I blame him entirely but he could've been a little more accommodating. Anyway, when I told him the part numbers, he insisted that I tell him what vehicle it was for. I told him, just to appease him but then he told me because it wasn't in his catalogue, he couldn't order them in. I told him to call DBA and ask them for the price and availability of them over the phone. He refused. I asked for his boss, explained to him what DBA told me when I checked with their sales department directly and all was sorted with an apology. -

V36 Grille Emblem - Nissan V Infiniti
The Max replied to rockafella813's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I'll dispute it, from experience but only on a V36. I don't know about a V35 though given the OP was talking about a 370GT which would make it a V36. -

Because soon, the American look will also be the Australian look. Besides, I like the Mt Fuji logo better than the Hamburger. -
V36 Grille Emblem - Nissan V Infiniti
The Max replied to rockafella813's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
It will as long as you match the body type. That is, be sure to get the coupe badge or the sedan badge. I've got the 2009 370GT coupe and I made sure that the grille emblem I got was the badge for a 2010 G37 coupe, as that's the equivalent model. Mine clipped straight on, no problem. The only thing I needed to do though was to get out the polish and rub away some of the baked in dirt that was trapped behind the Nissan Hamburger, which is a little wider than the Infiniti Mt Fuji. [Edit]: I should've read the rest of the thread. Seems you've already been told the same reason. For what it's worth, here's the one I bought and it was from the same seller: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-INFINITI-G37-COUPE-2DR-FRONT-GRILLE-EMBLEM-CHROME-/280951353466?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416a01707a -
Cold Cranking Procedure For V36
The Max replied to The Max's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Heheh. Not really that sexual considering my car is a bloke for if it were a female, I'd be more of a gentleman with it. Anyway, thanks for all the tips guys. I'm not going to start a debate about the pros and cons of cold cranking, as that wasn't the aim of this thread, but at least now I know what I can do to perform it. I'll have to get my hands on the manuals for the Consult 3+ software to gain a little more insight before I get back home. Thanks again guys. -
Cold Cranking Procedure For V36
The Max replied to The Max's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Excellent. I have both the Osiris Tuner as well as a Nissan Consult 3+ kit ($1600 Chinese knock-off with software). I'll do my homework when I fly back home soon. As for killing the starter motor, it's easier to replace one of those than it is to freshen up an engine. I can live with that. My Maxima lasted for 16 years before the starter needed replacing and that was after a course of 4 cold crankings over 8 years. The VG was better for it. -
Supercharged Vs Turbocharged
The Max replied to spartacus77's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Definitely aim to keep some kind of catalytic converter in the vehicle to at least keep it street legal. There's no point in having a nice performance car if it gets taken off the road for failing emissions tests in random inspections. It's way more hassle than its worth. -
Cold Cranking Procedure For V36
The Max replied to The Max's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Battery will be fine as I've had it disconnected but I'm not inclined to start the car as per normal though. I'd much rather take the extra time to give the engine some TLC. -
Hey guys, Just doing my homework here but having my V36 sitting in the garage for the past 5 months and never started, I need to figure out the cold cranking procedure for these vehicles. It's a ritual I used to do with my old Maxima whenever I got back home from such a long absence, changing the oil and filter as well as taking out the spark plugs and dripping some oil down the cylinders and then finally cold cranking the engine without fuel for about 30 seconds, or until sufficient oil pressure would build up. Of course, back in the day with an old '92 model car, that was a piece of cake with the old ignition barrel but now it's a push-to-start system so it's trickier. Is there an elegant way to do this or will the ECU freak out and avoid powering the starter motor if I were to remove the fuse for the fuel pump? Otherwise, my other option will be to manually actuate the starter motor using external wiring at the IPDM in the engine bay instead.

And the burning question is, how does it sound? It might be the way to go if this Megan Racing muffler doesn't ship from Sonic Motorsports by the end of the week as promised. I've been waiting for 3 months for them to receive stock! -
How old are you? I dare say the reason why Shannons weren't remotely interested is probably because you're not 30 and over. I called Shannons back in late-2006 about my turbocharged Maxima and they insured me over the phone at a value that was as reasonable as it could get. I was 29 and 10 months at the time. When my vehicle was involved in a collision, three years ago, I was given the first priority to buy the vehicle back at the value quoted by the auctioneers, which I did. When I got my BA wagon about 8 months later, they insured me right away at a price better than all the other major players in NSW despite my collision with the Maxima and full no-claim bonus. Then when I got my V36 earlier this year, again, I was insured over the phone without any fuss for the full $55k on-road cost that I spent on it. I honestly don't know what gave you the impression that Shannons don't do import vehicles when they make it abundantly clear that they'll insure just about anything with an engine in it. I'm not having a go at you about this directly but I'm just making sure that nobody here in this thread is left with the false impression that Shannons don't insure import vehicles when they clearly do though they may be a bit more selective about their drivers, perhaps.

Definitely appears impressive but I'm with Chris on this one. Anything which leaves the control system vulnerable to being messed with by anyone other than you is not a secure thing. It's not like you're using an RFID swipe card or something. I wouldn't waste my time with it. I've got a Viper 5904 on its way from the US along with the XpressKit DBALL interface, tilt and perimeter sensors. I used to have a Clifford Avantguard G4 in my old Maxima with the remote start and that was a fantastic unit but I decided against installing that in my V36 even though the Viper doesn't have the anti-carjacking feature. It was more about simplicity of the installation which an old legacy unit like the Clifford didn't seem appropriate. I don't care much for the SmartStart thing with the iPhone though. A remote key fob is more than enough for me. And yes, forget about ADRs. Just use the remote start wisely (i.e. Don't start it in front of the police!).

Looks like it was shot at the Carlovers in Burwood. And I see you've got a more accommodating bumper bar compared to mine, as I had to trim my rear plate to fit it in the bar's cavity.

Was that for sea freight though? I'd exercise some patience and get it shipped by sea to help reduce the cost even further. Do they even make this system at all for the G37/V36? There doesn't seem to be much on offer for that series on their website.
