Almost 2 Weeks When Infiniti Launches Here
The Max replied to coupestar's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
G35 = 350GT Based on the vehicle in your profile here, that's what you need to aim for. I'm not really sure if there are any differences with the grille emblems but it's best to play it safe. -
No idea how it was done. I just know that the boot lid is absolutely clean, blemish and pin-dent free. No sign of a respray (nor should there be as it was a grade 5A). Not a single badge or sticker anywhere on the rear.

I'm quite fortunate that mine was already debadged with love when I imported it.

Ah, so they do have Infiniti branding eh? I'll trawl away then. Cheers. As for the whole rebadging thing, I've already explained myself before in this thread ... purely aesthetic. Nothing to do with resale value at all since I get attached to my vehicles. I wouldn't have bought this car if my J30 Maxima wasn't written off. Have you read post #105 in this thread? Look up so I don't have to appear like a broken record. -

Definitely eBay. Around $30 should do the trick from memory. The Infiniti badge is a little more elliptical in shape so there will be some of the grille that used to sit behind the Nissan hamburger that will then become exposed. This is all ok but you might find there's a buildup of dirt that will need a good wash and possible hand polish to basically make sure there aren't any unsightly marks when you replace it. -

Got an IPL cover through OCinfiniti on eBay. All in preparation for when I take the plunge and supercharge it. -

You've missed the point though. This is about rebranding the vehicle as an Infiniti, not a Nissan. Mine came with the Skyline mats but they're a little worn and I'd like to replace them with Infiniti mats instead. -

If only the US Infiniti floor mats weren't tailored to LHD vehicles! Then my vehicle would be complete. -
If your battery is measuring in OK (no less than 12V without load and no less than 10V when attempting to crank the vehicle), that still doesn't explain why you don't have any dash lights. Have you checked all relevant fuses? If they're all ok, my next suggestion would be to check the Viper alarm itself. Are you using an Xpresskit DBALL? If so, try disconnecting it, if it's easily accessible in case it's upsetting something on the CAN bus.

My plan is to go see Jim at Tunehouse in Marrickville. I met him at a MoTeC training seminar back in 2003 and he clearly has the know-how as well as resources - using a Chassispack dyno. I've already bought the Osiris Tuner with a view to do my own tuning but my access to a dyno is no longer possible. Therefore, the plan is to see him, give him the tools (if he hasn't already been approached with one of these vehicles) and let him do what he does best.

370Gt Compliance Brisbane
The Max replied to 59IDR's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I had mine complied in Brisbane because nobody reliable/trustworthy in Sydney could do a 2009 model at the time (January 2012). The guys who did it were RAWS/Top Gear Vehicle Imports (http://www.raws.com.au) and it was on the recommendation of Prestige Motorsport, who patiently assisted me with the purchase of my vehicle when it appeared 7 months after I embarked on my search! Bruce did a great job of it, no mucking around. His mechanic, Vasily, was equally good though he did mistakenly note down the engine serial number with one digit missing so that slowed me down a couple days for my blue slip here in NSW. Despite this, everything was well organised, the vehicle was well looked after even with the tow truck that Bruce arranged for picking up from the shipyard and all in all, they're a very accommodating bunch. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. It was well worth the additional $600 I paid for the CEVA car carrying mob to bring him home to me. With the necessary headlight modification, general service, fluid changes and tyres (Kumho KU31's, which I thought I'd try but they suck for my spirited driving style), I paid $3200 for the compliance. Good luck and happy bidding! -

Never was a first time, let alone a last time. Good to see that Nissan are joining the herd on that front though. About time but that's a discussion for another thread. -

I agree with this sentiment. I've always believed my car is for me to admire, not to hope that others will admire it and recognise me for it. While I'll admit I stayed away from the R-series purely because of the bad stigma those cars got thanks to the idiotic hoons out there and the unwanted attention that it may possibly draw, I still prefer the V-series anyway based purely on the fact that for me, they're a couch on great performing wheels. It's why I loved my old J30 Maxima then and the same reason why I love my V36 Skyline now. -

For me, I've just always liked the Infiniti arrow logo more than the Nissan hamburger logo. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Nissan man (well, after Chrysler - Challenger is my poison) but it's purely the look of the logo. I guess it could be compared to the wankery of those with VE Commodores who whack Chevy badges on them but it's not like Chevy is a prestige brand. At least Infiniti has that going for them. -

When I got my V36 in a few months ago, the first thing I did was change the grille badge to an Infiniti without any consideration of what Nissan Australia had in store for us and definitely not thinking the crazy notion that it would add value to the vehicle. Anyone who thinks that simply rebadging their vehicle will add value is fooling himself. The vehicle was already debadged when I bought it but had it still had the Nissan badges on the rear, I would have simply removed them as I much like the clean look of the rear. OEM Infiniti door sill kick panels going in next and once they become available here, steering wheels and genuine Infiniti floor mats. Might be a bit of a wanky thing to do but it's purely an aesthetic thing for some of us. Of those, some people do it to show it off whereas I do it for me to admire my own vehicle. Each to their own I guess. -
Wow, that unit looks vastly different with many more terminals on the back than the USDM 2010 coupe. I was thinking of taking mine out to see if I can work out a telephone mute type of volume control for my system without affecting the volume of an actual phone call via the bluetooth. Yes, I know that sounds silly but the application I have in mind calls for the stereo to be muted without affecting phone calls so that I can hear an alert other than a phone call when the stereo is blasting. Failing that, I'm thinking I can probably just fudge the device so that it triggers the Voice control but I can't remember if that mutes the stereo for the voice command or not. I'm working overseas at the moment but my brain is running 24/7 thinking about how I'm going to solve this challenge. Nice work with pulling it out and taking the photos though. If you ever get a chance to get more detailed photos of the circuit boards themselves, they may prove to be handy in my research for this other project. Don't go out of your way for it though. Best of luck with the conversion. I'm quite happy to keep mine in Japanese. It gives my vehicle a little character. Besides, with Nissan introducing the G37 locally, maybe we'd have the good fortune of the Bose-equipped vehicles actually getting the same hardware - unless Nissan expect this and will screw us over. Time will tell.

A tempting (and wishful) thought. Let's see how that goes as it might be just what the doctor ordered. -
Hey guys, I'm doing some homework in relation to putting to use an unused indicator on my 2009 V36's combination meter ("Cruise") but I'm going to need to get inside the meter and isolate it for this purpose as the Cruise indicator seems to be governed by the CAN bus. As I like to actually plan my projects before I embark on them, I was hoping someone already has taken one apart or otherwise has some kind of circuit schematic for it. And as a side thought, I figured while I'm at it, I may as well do something about replacing the 180km/h speedometer in it as well. There don't seem to be a lot of options out there other than to obtain a US model cluster or an Impul aftermarket job. If I were to go the US path, the question then is how complex would that task be and would the wiring even be compatible to begin with? I have my doubts but I'm holding out hope there. Then there is also the compatibility of the actual LCD display and whether or not it will still display the messages and if so, will it be in English or Japanese? I figure that the languages would be built into the meter itself as it translates the CAN bus data but again, it's a question of whether or not that CAN bus data is compatible from region to region. If I were to go aftermarket though, are there any other options out there aside from shelling out over US$1000?

That breaks one of my rules: 1) No smoking 2) No drinking 3) No eating 4) No farting 5) No sex 6) No smelly burps (e.g. after a garlic-heavy dinner) 7) Feet remain on the floor 8) No chundering out the window or anywhere near the vehicle 9) No urinating near the vehicle, particularly in high wind areas 10) No slamming of boot lids and doors 11) No stickers Break even one rule, you walk. That's how I keep the vehicle pristine. The Maxima lasted in showroom condition for 17 years and I intend to keep the V36 this way.

I see. I was preparing myself for the worst, thinking perhaps the Fly Company in China with their Consult 4 unit and security cards would be the failsafe for me in case if I didn't get any co-operation out of my local dealers. I did get a tiny little metal tag attached to my transponder key which has 5 digits stamped into it. After doing some reading up on NATS and the various incarnations of it, I think that could be my immobiliser code so I'm glad I made a point of keeping everything that came with my V36 recently in a safe place. Thanks for the prompt response, as always!
-
So the Consult units will allow for a recode but only with an immobiliser code as well. I'm guessing what makes Nissan capable of performing it regardless is the fact that they have the immobiliser security card which does not require the original codes to allow for this. Would I be right in saying that?

Hey guys, I need to make a little modification to the lower bumper grille of an '09 model but I'd like to have a backup plan and buy another one to work on before I take the other guy off (and keep it as a spare thereafter). Anyone know of a reliable and cheapest possible source for a factory standard one? I'm not interested in any of that tight mesh. That makes the vehicle look a little cheap in my opinion.

Only one problem with AI, no own choice of repairer. They have a list of 1000 repairers, according to their FAQ, for the customer to choose from. No thanks. I'm paying Shannons $2700 a year for my '09 V36 coupe ($55k agreed value) and that's good peace of mind for me.
