  1. Why would you want things dangling from your mirror anyway? By right you do mean left, right? Is your brain switched on? Pet hate....people not giving way to let you reverse park,,grrrrrrrrr Another pet hate.....people that slow down when a policeman has already pulled somebody over, not like their suddenly gunna leave the person they have pulled over for you..Flip em the bird......
  2. Well id considerer anything under 100 crawling anyway Thats perfectly good way to drive if you can be f**ked, i would usually stop this way to,especially if i need to stop quick but have the time i just cant be assed so i knock it to neutral and roll..think youll find a lot of truckies do to, ya left leg gets damned tired after driving all day Remembering too that a cars brake to weight ratio is a lot better than that of a truck
  3. Everything gets a bit soft n loose after 2-300, but it kinda makes em more comfy, my daily ute has 380 on it, i drove a new one the other day and couldnt believe how jittery the ride was.. Probably could do with some new shocks
  4. Yeah but i believe thats not a tray ute... And also i overheard a guy at toyota trading his not old stx for the hilux cause it wasnt powerful enough
  5. Ya...are u for real dude or having a lend of me 3 ways i would slow a normal car 1. knock it out of gear & brake... 2. clutch in and brake 3. downchange gears and brake All of which involve clutching, in an auto you need brakes to slow the engine, but in a manual the engine slows itself when the clutch is in...do most people you know drive autos by any chance
  6. +1 but, option 1 otherwise, if its a straightforward swap and a 100k motor, its good for another 200k if your last motors anything to go by I think ya car will be dead before that motor will
  7. I do believe bt-50 got ute of the year or something,, good bang for the buck ute it is , navara is just way to ugly to be seen in
  8. I think the problem here may be that, unlike football or cricket for instance, that needs an area of grass a few balls and bats, car modification costs bucketloads of cash so the average joe has very little left to give back to society.. That said the amount of of cashflow car racing provides for for the economy would belittle that of any football game i believe..People that run top shelf F1 teams employ thousands of staff not to mention what they learn towards technological advancement usually ends up in daily vehicles that everybody drives..As modified car owners we are merely like a junior football clubs in comparison... However i think alot of people may feel the world is moving to fast already and we need to look at ways to slow it down , what with climate hoohaa and all...And now with the intranet, is there really any need for us to be driving around everywhere when nearly everything can be done from home now..the only real need for transport is for stuff not people.. I often think myself car modification a waste of time, when the new models usually surpassing what we have built especially saftey wise..However it is a hobby just like any other and deserves recognition, Rodders as you said may have a euphoric effect, but this is a good thing, it makes people feel good which is what we need, Thousand of people have died in the poorly built rods of the past which is why we have the rules we have now, But most (and i say most) rodders are an older more mature bunch that know when and where its ok to do things, but they have often learnt the hard way, And this is the big problem ,kids dont get it yet , they see the video footage and maybe dad drops a huge burnout oneday..Anything you can do i can do better..especially when young, we dont always realize consequences of our actions, or dont care..If you do see a young person in a Hot rod they often have the maturity that most young people dont.. Most younguns have small dick syndrome, and are not building safer cars at all.. Instead its about the size of the wheels and the kws...this usually leads to f**ked suspension and a twisted and cracked chassis.. Far from safe!!! Also, unlike football or cricket we dont have ovals everywhere, we dont have a place to legally vent (although we have tempting roads everywhere) ....The only place i know of is shepparton ( i think) that has a permanent skidpan where people can go and do burnouts for fun..Even melbourne city of 4 million has one drag strip that is open sometimes, and its an hour drive from the east where the bulk of population is..Friday night drags are great but i dont finish work till 6 and then its an hour drive from home.. Its pathetic..Make it saturday at least....But the good guys that run summernats and other shows like it, are constantly working on new events to change this..And making reasonable ground too, as these events bring much wanted cashflow (and excitement) to the quiet towns they are run in. The other reason they are held there is because there is too many people complaining in the city..There were said people trying to close down Sandown for christs sake , the track was there long before there crappy houses were..But unfortunately one small (new) suburb almost outweighed the car loving community...Luckily this was rallied against and won Another major problem we face is that australia has a better chance than any country to become a "green" country We have all along with the rest of the world been americanized for the last 50 years (since the invention of TV) and america car culture is huge, but however, as it turns out unhealthy for the planet..The powers that be are trying to prevent the same here and are winning..They feel we should be learning from americas mistakes not basking in its once was glory. Which is also why guns are almost abolished here, (that and that tasmanian nutcase Bryant. though that story has its own conspiracy theories) Because of this I sometimes have trouble convincing myself my hobby is justified .. But anyway back on subject we shouldnt have to raise money for charity to be accepted, and if we do its from the good of our hearts not because we are trying to be accepted..So im sorry but im not sure its a valid/solid argument.......
  9. SO your braking with the clutch out Is it in gear as well??
  10. Yeah true that, and theres nothing better than shitter races at the lights, neither of em can break the speed limit and feels so good when you beat a better car in your shitbox, but its more fun racing other shitters..Its like real racing in slow motion......My first car was a 120y. got it for a slab of VB...
  11. Awesome.................I used to do back flips with my jethopper in the bucket of a front end loader, but that was 1980 something, might have to buy one, aparrently there 80$ on ebay
  12. this one also has electrcis and SR extras...And it was offered with a 12 month warranty.. But choice is yours, i do 80,000km a year so to me a new car soon becomes an old car so dont think its worth the xtra dough really.. the D4 is a 30k car new..to me in 4 years it would have 400,000, a new one would have 320,00..so there still gunna be worth shit buy the time im finished with it
  13. vz commy wagon , huge boot, and if you been drinking just crash in the back.. fuel bills are ok if you drive it normally, drive it like a hoon and there not real good
  14. Yeah i was thinking a 325 bmw coupe, found a few mid 90s with reasonable kms, rich lady owners so most probably well looked after too..and him studying business at uni thought a beamer would be up his alley but no... i tried to buy my missus (his sister) a merc at one point , to which she replied "i dont live in toorak" so i guess some folks just dont dig yuppy rides.. so we got a luxury accord instead... ...much of a muchness really
  15. Mate i just went to test drive this car, was really nice with heaps o power...we got the price down to 18k, maybe could have got a bit more, but i wanted it for 17k at most so no deal was done...and its no good for you in bris vegas But its my recomendation to u http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/deale...mp;rego=7957251

  17. Haha, italian superstar sends me all the euro wheels...figures.. Seriously as much as i like euro cars id sooner get a good,, much newer falcodore for the price I did find an a4, v6 sunroof power everything mags was pretty coll for 6500, but it was too old for his tastes
  18. Hey bloke im in the same boat, and after considering every option, i have recently noticed that you can get a 06 hilux D4 diesel ( the best of the best work utes) with around 100,000km for less than 20k... Im trying to get one myself....speaking to a few old boys these things last forever .... i think a better option than a new petrol...otherwise if u want new and cheap get the bt-50...ute, good solid workhorse 23,000 on road..Ive driven the vvt hilux and its not real flash..gutless really The toyota also has more power than all the rest, with a DP chip your looking at 140kw and 400nm torque, decent power.. but make sure you get the D4 and not the earlier DiD model..D4 has much better engine triton is also good for the money, with bluetooth standard..the rest should learn from this But its high ride gives crappy handling...
  19. i know you luuurve the attention.. Oh and if anyone remembers what this thread was about...the heat was back today and so was the pinging
  20. My point exactly...maybe we should take this to the wasteland, home of all things bullshit
  21. Heres one for the lawyers....if there is any here back in 2000 after a splitting up with my gf, hitting the substances and breaking my arm, things got even better when, on the way to move my stuff out of her house, i ran into the ass of a toyota echo in my cortina with no insurance, i had a dent in my bumper, the echo was bent in half and almost a write-off with even the roof being replaced Now i wasnt under the influence of anything more than a couple of panadeine at the time and it was auto so driving with one arm was easy but heres what happened Parked at a red light under the freeway overpass the light goes green..Now at almost the same time i hear sirens and look over to see an ambulance going the other way, however it was not yet moving and there was no flashing lights which was kind of confusing.. By now my car was moving when i look straight only to see brake lights, and a policecar hard on the skids into the intersection after flying down the offramp trying to beat the red light.(which he quite obviously didnt) I hit the echo which then goes sliding towards the divvy van locked up in the middle of the intersection, luckily stopping just short..the police ask if we are ok then take off down the road.. me and the lady start to change details etc before the police return 5 minutes later Now because i had moved house and for the coming months i was too busy drowning my sorrows to check my mail or change my address, i soon realized that.... i was supposed to go to court,.... was supposed to of been at court, was now being slugged with a $8000 bill for the damage.. I originally felt i was at fault because i had hit her from behind, but letters from various solicitors suggested otherwise.. Stating that because the police had run a red light at a blind intersection that i was not the only one at fault...And given that i was also distracted by the ambulance and sirens i feel i could of escaped some/all of this .. BY not showing up to court i obviously shot myself in the foot and have sinced paid the money owed. But i am interested to now if anyone here has any enlightenment on where i actually stood in this matter

  24. Makes me proud to be Australian
  25. link wouldnt work for me, but anyways Do you guys not read Street Machine, the people there lobby against this sort of stuff all the time, and they are die hard enthusiasts and have been since before imports where even heard of.. Not only that, bikers also run all sorts of charitable events, but are still frowned upon for being bikers You are not one person and you are not alone I have a pit bull x, she is one of the best natured dogs i have ever known, and every vet she has been too will testify to this yet same again, you know how the media portrays them Your aims are admirable, you have my support, but also my constructive criticism
