  1. Yeah, sadly your attitude toward the copper normally goes a long way toward whether you get defected or not, regardless of how legal your car is.
  2. ^^^ don't feel safe with an engineering certificate - if police suspect somethig is illegal they will STILL defect you - their response is: defect first, then let Regency sort it out. I know of plenty of cases where police told people that their engineering cert is not worth shit. And of course this makes sense - you could have changed anything at all since the engineering cert to make the car illegal.
  3. Yep, I have 2 seats in the back of my V35 for a 6 year old and 3 year old. No problems. The boots are big enough for groceries, but not really for anything else tbh. I would NOT call them a big boot, but they are adequate. You can't quite fit 2 decent size wheels in there, which sucks.
  4. Ironically I sold my old S15 when we got pregnant with our first child and imported and R34 sedan. When the R34 arrived I realised that the rear seat legroom was smaller than the S15! My V35 also has a large rear seat/legroom than the 4 door R34!
  5. I understand where you are coming from. BUT factoring in potential trade-in is more that a bit silly. IMHO anyone that EVER trades in a car is either getting the deal of the centruy on the car they are buying (extremely rare), or rich and don't mind throwing away money. Forget trade-in-ability, as why would you want to flush an extra $5-$10k down the toilet?!
  6. Yeah Paul, mine is a coupe. And yes, I do school/child care drop off and pick-up 3 days a week (they have to go in the wife's boring CRV the other days), and needless to say Tyler gets plenty of comments from school friends
  7. quote: "also read servicing is ~$1200 for fluid, but that was some years ago (07ish).. looks like its much, much cheaper now. Unless these boxes specifically require super expensive fluid?" - YES, they do require super special, super expensive fluid. It is a fluid made only for the old CVT boxes, and yes it is about $1,200 for a full change. As I already said, with the car I was looking to buy they spent $3.5k with parts etc trying to fix it, and THEN gave up. That's why you don't read stories of them being fixed. 1). they can't be unless you know what you're doing (and no-one does), and 2). who wants to start throwing big $$$ at them if the result still might be an unfixable box. Surely some variety of 5 speed auto from a coupe could be made to fit with enough fabrication/effort, but you would NEVER have it work in auto mode (as that would require an ECU/loom change) - you would need a manual shift controller box and basically have to drive the car selecting every gear, every time.
  8. I have 2 car/booster seats in the back for my 6 and 3 years olds. My back seat gets used a LOT .... I had no option, but do love the 370Z.
  9. You can't edit a post afeter a few minutes fyi. I can't imagine you would notice a 4% difference in power unless you jumped straight from one into another. But the discussion really is null and void - almost all people put an intake and exhaust/high flow cats on, which ups your power anyhow. And serious bang for buck value is an Uprev flash or Osiris system, which makes the car tuneable. All ADM cars have horribly conservative tunes in them stock to cater for your average idiot that is not going to run decent fuel and decent oil/frequent services. For example the R35GTR goes from something like 300awkw to 330-340awkw (from memory), with just a decent tune.
  10. Sadly most cars are released in Aus come somewhat detuned compared with their Japanese/USDM counterparts Yes, a near new G60 for $46k sounds like a great deal - but when you go to sell it you will basically be competing with all the V36s around. Yes of course the English controls/buttons is a big plus, but the distance a $46k can fall compared to a $25k car is huge. And yes, I am a grumpy old fart ..... and I have seen similar questions posed by a million whipper snappers since I started moderating SAU in 2002, so forgive me
  11. If you think your purchase might be a short term one, then why buy a new(ish) model with super low km for $40k??? Buy an 09 with 50,000km on for $25k and the loss wil be significantly less when you sell it.
  12. If you do a search for CVT gearboxes on here you will find that people avoid them like the plague, as once you have a problem of any variety with them they are usually unfixable. Brilliant to drive when they are working, complete nightmare when they have a fault. you are very likely completely screwed. Most poeple who have issues end up copping the loss and parting out the car. I was going to buy a 2002 V35 sedan and prior to me taking delivery of it, it developed similar faults in the gearbox. Short story is, $3.5k worth of fluid, service, various sensors and parts later (after weeks for parts out of Jp), and the thing was still not fixed. They ended up parting out the car and I luckily avoided a nightmare by the skin of my teeth.
  13. At basically double the price, why would you even ask the question? Why would the Q60 be heavier? It is basically the same car.
  14. Don't hold your breath on resale value. V35's that were $30k-$40k 5 years ago are worth $15k now, and V36s that were worth $50k-$60k 4 years ago are worth $30k now. It's just cars in general - and yes, any import is an absolute pita to sell. Just enjoy them and not worry about the money.
  15. Wow, how hard did you search?? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/112948-where-can-i-find-insurance-for-my-import/
  16. Wow, I was under the impression that NO autos have LSD. Mine certainly open wheels
  17. Have you checked your trans fluid levels? Get your trans serviced is the other option - there is every chance it needs it anyhow.
  18. Given that Camaros etc cost $45k to convert to rhd, not to mention the fact that they sell the Inifiniti Q60 IPL here already, you are shit out of luck
  19. ^^^ yea, but the GTR is a very unforgiving car - you wouldn't want one as your daily driver. Horrible in traffic for the most part, and not terribly comfortable to sit in for any decent distance. The Q60 on the other hand is a luxury cruiser with some punch when it is needed. Different strokes for different folks. The beauty of the Skyline not being released here in all of the engine variants gives us power later on to get them on the SEVS list and import them.
  20. Yeah the one on Carsales is listed as Slate Blue - my mistake - Slate blue is a series 2 V35 and V36 colour. The series 1 V35 colour I was thinking of is Lakeshore Blue- which is much lighter. http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/1261170.html Either way mate the lighter a car, the easier it is to keep clean and look good. The darker colours show up the scratches, swirl marks and dirt. Current V36 colours (not sure exactly which years are included/excluded): http://gocar.com.au/nissan-skyline-v36-coupe-guide/5 On a slightly side-note, I jumped on the Nissan Japan website and came across this - I can't believe the options are 2lt turbo or 3.5l hybrid!! http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/?rstid=20140314rst000001001
  21. Slate blue is only in V35s - the V36 coupe has a blue, but it is not Slate, and it is rare as. http://revesby.australialisted.com/cars/nissan-skyline-ckv36-370gt-nbsp-2007_17267654.html There are also 4 differene shades of grey from memory.
  22. There is a black one at Synergy mate. DO NOT buy it though - it has been wound back around 100,000km. We did a little expose on it on Facebook where someone tracked down the auction sheet for it showing 17x,000km on the odo at auction, and lo and behold it is here for sale on the lot with 7x,000km on it! It has been taken off Carsales (presuably due to the expose we did), but I am pretty sure it is still on the lot (was the other day when I went past anyhow). This one is there too: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Nissan-Skyline-2007/AGC-AD-14249040/?Cr=3&sdmvc=1 and interestingly since the expose on the black one, it suddenly includes at the bottom: "Japanese owners manual and service books, Export Certificates (Japanese de-registrations)."
  23. Well there is just one left, so I have decided to put the price back up to $1,000 ono - I guarantee you will not find another Urethane one for sale in Australia, and are unlikely to ever again (unless I decide to bring some more in, which is very unlikely given the trouble these were to bring in). If I can't get $1k for it I will just keep it. Even at that price it is a bargain.
  24. ^^^ I call bs on that - on an even midly warm day my car is as hot as hades. In fact when it is plus 30 and the car is left out in the sun (which itt is most of the time) you CANNOT touch your hand on the paint. And then you can feel the heat radiating through the roof lining onto your head. Let alone a 40 degree day. But like I said, I still love my black car - you just have to find shade where you can. A big help is the fact that I have remote start - so in warmer weather my a/c is always left on, and I start the car a few minutes before I get in it = nice and cool car inside most of the time
