  1. lol ..... hey wtf are you doing checking SAU whilst at the Goodwood Festival of Speed? I have been loving the FB pics btw mate.
  2. Absolutely no offense meant mate, but if I had a V36 sedan they would likely not batt an eyelid at it, as everyone thinks they are fwd Maximas .... one of the reasons I have resisted going sedan - imho they just look too pedestrian for me. But seriously, does it get a lot of attention? It's a bit like why I could never own a Toyota Mark X (even though I like them a lot) - your average Joe Blow just thinks they are Camrys, and I couldn't deal with that
  3. It's done 162k kms now mate - still as reliable as ever and goes like clockwork, but I use it daily for work and can't ever afford to have it off the road. I am just a tiny bit concerned that into the future it may need more maintenance etc and cause me problems. That said, there is nothing to indicate any faults - it still runs like the day I got it nearly 6 years ago with 48k on the clock! Then every time I start to get a bit bored of it and think of changing over I will have someone come up to me at a servo or out the front of their house at a valuation and gush over how much they love it - that sort of reminds me that I still love her and that I am not done with her yet
  4. Nice. Dang it I have been looking at that one for a while and the price was exceptional ... I just wasn't ready to pull the trigger yet. I was hoping it would still be sitting around later in the year, but knew it would sell at that price. Nice buy
  5. When I did the mods on my 35 coupe the power went from around 140rwkw stock to 183rwkw. You can most certainly notice the increased power, but obviously on a bang per buck basis it is expensive. After my somewhat rocky and expensive experience I only recommend doing : - HKS/high flow panel filters (which do add a little bit of power - especially if you do the exhaust too - increased air in/out with some tuning always adds power) - high flow cats, delete mid-pipe resonators, keep stock rear muffler. If you are concerned about increased noise, add an Apexi exhaust control valve. Or get Varex rear mufflers which can be adjusted for flow/noise - an Apexi AFC Neo and get it tuned. Pretty much everything else is just window dressing (unless you go FI like George said). IMHO if you don't have Brembos, acquire some (or Akebonos) - these are heavy cars and if you do frequent spirited driving you WILL run out of brakes. Decent pads and bleeding some dot6.1 fluid in helps in this as well if you can't afford Brembos straight away. Like many people have said, these are pretty brilliant cars from stock. If you want a bit of improvement, do as I suggest above. If you want REAL power, pony up the $20k or so to do forced induction properly (which also involves opening your engine to install new rods at a minimum), or buy a car that actually has REAL power like a GTR. Our cars are luxury cruisers with a bit of ooomph. That is about it.
  6. CAIs have been proven not to add any power. If they do add a tiny bit of power in one area of the rev range, it will lose power in another. Just get some high flow panel filters (HKS or similar) and that is all you need.
  7. There are subtle wiring differences from time to time between USA and Jp built cars too, so anything electrical you have to be quite careful of. Also remember in your search for parts in the USA, that if you go over A$1,000 declared value in parts in one shipment you cop duty + gst, and if it is anything big you often cop transit/holding/quarantine costs on top (especially if/when you have to employ a customs broker to clear your goods, as I did). If you under-declare the value of goods and they catch you there are significant fines and trouble (for both you and the seller who intentionally mis-declared the value), so much so that many USA vendors will now NOT mis-declare value to save you import duties, but use the retail invoice as the declared value. Also, I have heard of people being slugged duty + gst if the combined total of declared value of the goods plus the cost of shipping goes over $1k, but this is not supposed to be the rule.
  8. Screw you hippy. Have fun Brad - so jealous right now!
  9. You are lucky that the compliance workshop had some oem spring/shocks to chuck in it for compliance! When I brought my old R34 4 door in around 10 years ago (when they were quite rare) I couldn't find some stock 4 door suspension (nor a stock exhaust) for some 6 months. So it had to sit in my backyard waiting on those parts before I could send it to compliance (which was here in Adelaide luckily)!
  10. Yeah I spot that one around quite a bit - especially on Gouger St, which I assume is where that pic is taken Looks nice imho.
  11. Haha, a Nissan Australia dealer most certainly will tell you "where to go". My experiences with them have been much less than favourable, and I can't imagine for a second they would be interested in telling you how or where to get your grey import fixed/looked at. I have no idea if we are affected or not, or whether you can even buy non-fragmentally-explosive air bags for the V35 or V36. But I guarantee you will NOT like the price or airbags - a full set runs at about $5k retail - including needing to removed the dash to get to the passenger one, and unstitching the sides of your seats to access the side ones.
  12. With all of the mods you have done, you NEED some kind of tune. Even if it is an SAFCII (or similar) to flatten out your air/fuel mixture. By changing your intake and exhaust so heavily, your ECU has to try to deal with all of the different aspects of your airflow modification. If you are running rich then you lose power (and will foul up your plugs etc), if you are running lean your ECU will be retarding the engine timing to avoid detonation, thereby robbing you of power. Have you reset your ECU to let it relearn after you put the mods on? That is the first place I would start.
  13. Who are you bringing it in through Leo? How much landed? Looks awesome btw - I am a sucker for black cars (my previous R34 was black as well)
  14. ^^^ nah it's not an SP - no Akebono brakes. FYI both the Type-S and Type-P could have paddle-shifters
  15. Are V36s true dual exhausts? If not these won't fit. Depends what (if anything) is actually in those resonators. Generally speaking deleting the rear stock exhaust section makes V's sound VERY loud and obnoxious. But for that price and an hours labour it is worth the punt imho (if they actually fit).
  16. Red is bad luck? How can a colour be bad luck? Pffffft. I like the Red V36s - saw one today in fact. But yes, I am leaning toward Blue - you gotta love it
  17. Yes, there is nothing more heartbreaking than owning a black car - especially this time of year. They other weekend I spent a whole day washing and polishing it, and literally 2 days later it looked like it had never been washed in its entire life. I am taking it up to Kadina on the long weekend for the annual SAU trip for the show'n'shine, and I just know that hours after I wash and polish it, it will look like crap again! *sigh* I am thinking red or blue for the next one!
  18. I have a JVC dual din after-market unit in my V35 that I have had for around 10 years, and it has the exact same thing - some drives work, some don't - it seems completely random. For sure though I have better luck with older USB drives than newer ones.
  19. Yes, good to see another forum member with a V35 in Adelaide Welcome. I have had my 35 out at Lala a couple of times - best time in it was 1:26 with windows down, music blaring and a/c on - it was a hot day! Followed up with some decent single pegger doughnuts on the burnout pad at the end of the day too My first time out there in the 35 I was being trained by Terry Bowe (John Bowe's brother) on a Bowe Drive Day. Terry put the 35 off the end of the straight/hairpin when the brakes failed due to being too hot (stock auto brakes with crappy fluid)- was not my ideal way to be in the passenger seat of my own car when I had only had it for 3 weeks. Bought some 350Z Brembos with Stoptech 2 piece floating rotors and Project Mu pads saw a fix to that scenario.
  20. But the Nissan "Circle" and the Inifniti "Mt Fuji" symbols are different shape, so I am quite sure you can't swap them - the shape of the inset in the grill is physically different if memory serves me correctly.
  21. It depends on which rims they are. These are the 3 types available for 370Zs below (according to a Google search). Even the "Nismo" ones are only 10.5 +23 in the rear, which will fit easily as long as you have tyres with a little bit of stretch, and will fit very easily if you have rear camber arms to tilt them in a bit. But yes, at 9.5 +40 the fronts will need 20-30mm spacers to sit anywhere near flush. To be honest, if you are after reasonably flush, then the rears will need 20mm spacers also. Base: 18x8 +43 front, 18x9 +15mm rear 225-50-18/245-45-18 Yokohama ADVAN Sport 17x4 spare, T145/80D17 Sport: 19x9 +47 front, 19x10 +30 rear 245-40-19/275-35-19 Bridgestone Potenza 18x4 spare, T145/70R18 NISMO 19x9.5 +40, 19x10.5 +23 245-40-19/285-35-19 Yokohama ADVAN Sport 18x4 spare, T145/70R18
  22. Pretty sure the emblem is integrated in to the front grille and is a different shape to the Nissan one anyway, so you will be looking for a grille swap rather than badge swap.
  23. Your car is looking amazing in those shots Julian - love it! I NEED to see it in person soon though *hint hint*
  24. USA Ebay is by far your best (and cheapest) bet.
  25. You specifically need one that can deal with CANBUS. There are a few about, but you need to be a bit lucky, but most of them won't display all the data you need. People have gotten them to work on V36s, but I am not sure what brand units they are. Hopefully they will see this thread.
