  1. Test pipes sound like shit too in my opinion. Way too raw and raspy. You don't want your V sounding like a farty Honda.
  2. No, the V+ plenum is what I have and it looks like this: http://www.kinetixracing.com/kinetix_350Z_and_G35_intake_plenum.aspx
  3. Apparently they are not worth the time, money or effort. Most reviews don't paint them in a positive light. The more popular option is the Cosworth setup. Or for much less money get the Kinetix V+ plenum for VERY similar (if not superior) results.
  4. Sorry Paul it is gone. And to be honest, and no offence meant, but no-one cares what else you drive - also, your sig is already too long - I almost edited out your silly "TBA" lines as well.
  5. I have left the banter in here as it has been generally acceptable, if not borderline. But consider this as a first and final warning, any further personal slander/affray (especially bringing race into it) and I will start editing heavily and handing out bans. Also Paul, I have removed your car list from your profile - it makes every post you make ridiculously large when viewing the forums.
  6. I am not sure exactly who you are referring to Paul, but Michael at MV Automatics is THE auto trans guy in Australia. It is likely to have been him. MV Automaticswww.mvautomatics.com.au 1 Google review 1 Stirling Road Blackwood SA (08) 8370 0430
  7. Sounds like it may be the stall converter - well I hope so for your sake. Finding/fixing the faults in a cvt box is a bottomless pit of time and money. Sadly, as I and others have said hundreds of times before, the GT-8 is a complete lemon - once any variety of fault happens with the cvt gearbox, it is generally time to find a new car.
  8. Sorry to tell you, but the GT8 CVT box is widely considered one of the biggest ever mistakes by Nissan. Once you break it (which doesn't sound far off), there is NO-ONE that can fix it. Many cars have been stripped and sold for parts once the CVT box develops ANY sort of fault - they are pretty much impossible to fix. One I was looking at buying a few years back developed some sensor, then belt faults, and the seller spent $3k and 4 weeks trying to problem solve it before giving up and binning the car. Thankfully prior to me taking delivery/paying for it. If I were you I would be babying the thing until it dies, then either parting out the car, or going through the sucky process of fitting a 5 speed manual or the later auto box, and then suffering the extensive headaches that go along with either of those solutions. And if you use anything but the Nissan CVT gearbox oil for your particular box (the oil alone costs $1k for a single change), you WILL completely fry your trans in no time.
  9. You are allowed to go 2" above standard diameter rims, but I am pretty sure you are not allowed to go more than 10m wider that stock track on each side. But don't worry about your track too much for day to day driving - cops really don't care about it - I have been through a few defect station/breathos with 10" +12 on the back which sit flush with the rear guards and they didn't say a thing, despite having a decent look. Regency is another thing entirely - I would never visit Regency with anything but stock rims on!
  10. I haven't heard either, but you have to be VERY careful with exhausts - there is a fair bit of pot luck/combo variance involved - reason being there are so many variables. When you listen to sound clips they don't always disclose exactly what their setup is. FYI, each of these individually can considerably change the note and pitch of your exhaust: - stock vs aftermarket headers - stock vs aftermarket high flow cats vs straight pipes - stock vs aftermarket Y-pipe (including variations in Y-pipe design and where the Y joins) - stock midpipe vs deleted midpipe - stock vs aftermarket rear muffler What you want to avoid is drone, and raspiness. Therein lies the beauty of the V35 - getting the right balance between note, volume, drone and rasp. Just go for whichever exhaust seems to be of the best construction (go for full stainless if possible), and play with it from there. I pretty much guarantee you that you will not get it right the first time, but you can add in and delete different pieces along the way. I have a combo that I am currently happy with: - stock headers - Kinetix high flow cats - customised Megan racing y-pipe - deleted mid pipe (3" straight through instead) - stock rear muffler You need to muck around and figure out the combo you like best - it is quite an individual thing. To give you an idea, I have had: various Y-pipes, dabbled with straight pipe/cats delete (= too raspy for my liking), aftermarket Chinese rear muffler with Titanium look tips (very low internal quality - I blew the guts out of it in one track day, after which it was VERY loud), I had an Apexi exhaust control valve at one point, 3 different mid-pipe resonator setups.
  11. ^^^ Disagree - a Stillen CAI is a waste of time and money - all you need is a high flow panel filter in the stock box imho And in terms of lag in the paddle shift, the issue is the slushy gearbox - go get a valve body upgrade done and you will be AMAZED at the results.
  12. Interestingly, despite the fact that I have an aftermarket grounding kit, when I wind my windows up and down at the lights my car runs noticeably rougher, then comes back smooth again once the up or down function is finished. Not sure what that is all about.
  13. I have had or put one on all of my cars .... in my opinion they do not work and have a placebo effect at best - yet I still keep putting them on my cars, as for the very small amount of money if they do anything whatsoever (plus you get some engine bay bling), then they are worth it. Of note is the fact that Nissan spend hundreds of millions of dollars R&Ding their cars - don't you think if the earthing system was in any way inadequate, they would have fixed it decades ago?!!!
  14. I saw a V36 sedan here in Adelaide the other week with that same cutout and was wondering what it was. I can't remember whether it was an SP or normal bar though.
  15. lol "may be useless" - I love your glass half full attitude. You have been had by one of the best car dealer scams that has ever been conceived. Don't worry about it. If worst comes to worst you take your car to try and claim on any 'warranty'. If/when they reject is you get heavy with them and point out how interested the ACCC/Current Affair and the like are interested in stories like this. If they cave you get your car fixed - if they don't you pony up the cash and fix it yourself. That is life.
  16. Yes, of course it is. Go and try to get something fixed and see how you go. They will always say it was a pre-existing condition (how are you going to prove otherwise), or you caused the defect due to abuse (again how are you going to prove otherwise). There are fewer more unscrupulous people in the world than used car dealers. Ask anyone that has ever tried to claim anything on a 2nd hand car warranty. The devil is in the fine print.
  17. I am VERY certain that NOTHING is covered under your warranty - they are never worth the paper they are written on.
  18. Or it could be the guts of one of your cats has come slightly loose.
  19. Yep, don't bother unless your car is specifically tuned for it, and then you have to run it ALL the time.
  20. You finally got it and it looks like this??? - what happened Julian?
  21. Posting your/updating your profile with your locality would help your cause in finding one significantly. Yes, I pretty much guarantee you it would be the same part as a 370Z, and very likely the same as V35/350Z. If you are in SA I have about 4 of them sitting here in my shed - anyone who has replaced or messed with their camber arms will have spare ones laying about.
  22. Yeah mate, I will be at AJD. No he hasn't sold it to my knowledge - but I know he was trying to decide which car to keep or sell, as he has too many at the moment. He nearly sold the R8 the other week but it fell through. I haven't caught up with him for a few weeks, and a few weeks is a long time in Munro time
  23. Yeah mate, Kadina is always the highlight (and about only properly organised SAUish thing) every year. Many interstate V35 guys want it done, but it seems that all the interstate guys that do it are uncontactable, and the Xanavi website has been down for some time.
  24. hey Brad, are you still doing the V35 English conversions?
  25. You might want to read this thread from top to bottom. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430930-v36-rev-probs-firmware-update-anyone/
