oh no I feel bad now, I'm responsible for wrecking around 10 A31's back when I used to work at the wreckers
-
I wish I had some updates, but 3 other cars I have got hail damaged, so thats put everything on hold a bit, but paint time soon,
-
I say get it repaired, being a panelbeater myself, it looks like an easy repair, and that paint touch up is no biggy, it just moisture under the paint, and those ug series 1 door moulds have to go while your there :-)

^^^ VL starter fits. I will also confirm that a R33 4 dr exhaust fits in the hole (aftermarket Jasma) but all mounts are different
-
you have to remove the door catch assy to get to that bolt
-
no, front and rear bumpers are very different, side skirts should fit right up
-
my drivers reg did the same thing and closest replacement I could find was u13 bluebird, I used the cefiros rail and window bracket, and fitted the bluebird motor and cable to it, the motor is very similar and the cable is a similar length, but I had to do a mod to the cable stoppers (add some length to it) yea, really really difficult to explain, so I won't get into it, but if you do this the mod that needs to be done will be evident
-
that sucks, I got my motor/box from BMI in logan, walked away a happy man,
-
you need to look in New Zealand my man, as thats where most of them ended up, parts are not a problem there www.trademe.co.nz (NZ's version of ebay) or d1nz forums, some of the guys on there will ship overseas
-
yea alot of folk that have had dealings with them come away unsatisfied, I think they are pricey, but when I need something, they seem to have it, wats the go with them?

Are A31 Rb20det Ecu's Not Same As R32 Ones?
VRdrift replied to PeterT's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I think so, I vaguely remember writing something up on it on D1NZ forums, (my username on there is 'driftrich') I think I had a similar issue in NZ fitting a 88 R32 rb20det into a 92 cefiro that prick of an engine had all square plugs -

VRdrift replied to PeterT's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
you sure about that? My a31 is a 91 facelift, the engine conversion I got was from a facelift R32, I used the original RB20de a31 loom on the r32 Rb20T because the dash plugs were completely different, thats also using a factory R32 ECU on that loom, no probs -
sweet, will look at that, probably doesnt help that the importer covered in silicone either cheers
-
I've just done a r32 RB20+5spd conversion in my a31, its all good, runs well but in the past week it it sometimes just cuts out completely for about a second, usually happens at lower rpm under load, probably does it about twice a day, the motor and box are standard with stock ecu ive checked for fault codes, all ok, but its got me buggered, any idea? cheers
-
U12 bluebird I think, I used the wiper stalk on mine, It was exactly the same, so im guessing the indicator stalk will be

I know it makes a huge difference, I had a doozy on my old RB25 VL commohore, the fmic will find its way onto mine soon, I just needed the car back on the road, its a wonder the humble RB20det, I remember when they used to be the fastest thing ever 10 years back, not so much now, but its better than the DE it had, god im glad thats gone
-
cheers for the info, I got a R32 one and pipes and they seemed to fit up ok, I didn't want a FMIC I will if I upgrade the hairdryer
