anyone see the huge flash in the sky tonight?
GTR32 replied to GTS_DUY's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Tryng to typ bt cnt vry wll becse lauging to hrd! Seriously folks...fat dudes?...meteorites?...space junk?...Shell finally found the Roo?...all pure speculation. I just want whatever Andrew is having. Wonder what sort of boost the fat dude would have to run to get that sort of trajectory/velocity. Guess he could determine curve with HKS F(art)CON, angle with adj wastegate and acceleration with PF(art)C. Sorry... I saw a similar thing a few years back just before sunset in Sydney. Was having a beer with a mate on a balcony, I was facing west he was facing east. Giant fire ball low in the sky but the only thing he could see was me looking over his shoulder going far far far fark! Heh heh -
the dewinged R34 GT-T with white wheels pulled up behind me at the lights. gave him a big wave out the window: nothing.

That's why they gave them Glocks, no safety catch!

Performance Friction in Murrumbateman ACT are the distributors for AP. Do a web search for AP Racing. DBA 5000 series will fit also.

Has anyone experienced issues out of the ordinary with DBA rotors? I've heard a couple of reliable sources suggest that: DBA changed their rotor compound recently (12 mths or so) their rotors are made in different factories and sometimes differ in quality. Don't know if it's true, probably not but it doesn't hurt to ask. Regards

Car wriggling with big braking
GTR32 replied to Abo Bob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, it's probably happening because you are losing grip/traction at the rear. Might seem like a simplistic sounding statement but this can happen and end in a spin like you've described. The rears losing grip is a bastard of a thing to have happen but there are only so many reasons for it. When you brake weight transfers onto the front and off the rear. The more the weight is transferred forward the more chance you have of losing traction as the rear has a tendency to rise; watch the Moto GP bikes brake for corners with their rear wheel in the air, same principle. A soft/stuffed rear/front shock combo will do it, opposite to the way drag cars are set up to squat in the rear with soft shocks. When the back end lifts enough it loses traction and under braking can lock easily. The fact that you've given the brakes some attention and are now probably generating more weight transfer, and that the lose happens more when there is nothing on the boot, supports this. Ditto wheel alignment; if it's not set up right it will go birko when the weight is transferred to the front and lose traction again. If you are running worn or crappy tyres on the back it will cause them to lose traction/grip quicker than if you are running tyres that are good quality. Any of these seem familiar? -
Has anyone changed the dumps on an R32 GTR before?
GTR32 replied to Ronin 09's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Ronin; was wondering how you went? on the thread you previously started (when the dumps arrived) I said I was considering using these myself. would really like to hear how it's going. and if you changed your mind i'd consider buying them off you! -
Squeeling brakes in R32 GTR
GTR32 replied to 7heavn's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
ah, the saga of the squealing brakes. i have dba 5000 and Brembo calipers with Ferodo 2500 pads. squeal?....ha ha....SQUEAL!!!!!!????? they are hopeless. as an aside the 'squeal' is actually a resonance in the disc. there is a thread on squealing brakes somewhere here. have heard dba discs are too hard and promote resonance but I don't believe it really. have been told the pads are track pads...could be the the problem. but yes it's bloody annoying; it's so bad that when i stop i expect other cars windscreens to blow out. can't imagine new R32 V-Spec and R33 GTRs squealed like this. will be looking closely at solutions soon with the mech who was asked to install something good that 'didn't squeal'. -
Aya; I have a pair of HKS pods with filters in the 'for sale' forum with photos. I'm in Canberra, will COD if you want the gear. Mark

Good point, that info probably would help a bit. Car is street driven hard, 330 rwkw, no drags or constant really hard launches. Regards -
Bright yellow R33 (GTS-t?) WIDEBODY moving down Canberra Ave towards Fyshwick from Qbeyan end around 0800 this morning, turned into Fyshwick.

I asked a place in Phillip to do a Quick wheel balance after I experienced some problems. Strangely it made no difference. I told them not to test drive the car when they were finished. They did. Later I found that the hub ball locators were missing. When I called the shop to tell them, their reponse was 'yeah, that'll do it'. GREAT! Was I wrong to assume that a tyre place would pick this up when I'd also told them I'd had a balance done elsewhere and it made no difference? I hope not. I'm not going back. There are a lot of +ve comments about Hankook Ventus K104 tyres on the suspension and handling forum if anyone is interested.

I asked a place in Phillip to do a Quick wheel balance and after I experienced some problems following the purchase of new tyres in Sydney. The balance made no difference. Yes but it's the one under the vacuum blaster on the left, not the one on the right. Oh and when you unscrew the cap on the bottom be careful not to lose the spring. Hope that makes sense.

I've read on this site that a new version of the PFC is to be released. Any ideas on what it might include that the current model doesn't?

Hi Emre; that's very, very scary. do you know of others that have had this problem?

Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems
GTR32 replied to archie1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Andrew; - The Ferodo DS2500 is a noisy pad due the performance nature of it. I've tried making my own shims, stick on shims on the back of the pad, copper grease on the backs of the pads etc with no change in noise whatsoever. Bugger. I was just about to try this. - The Brembo calliper is designed for maximum performance first and everything else second (including noise) Hmmm. I bet V Spec 32 GTRs, 33s and 34s don't squeal like this? I'm in the process of buying a set of the Winmax pads for the front as they promise to be significantly quieter than the Ferodos I have now with only slightly less performance. Please let us know how you get on. Mark -
Hi NRB, You ddin't mention if you were now using a stock boss. If not, is the stock wheel compatible with the Nardi boss? Just a thought. Good luck!

Has anyone changed the dumps on an R32 GTR before?
GTR32 replied to Ronin 09's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've made some enquiries about this and seen a couple of jobs done; there seems to be a general recognition that yes it's a bitch of a job, but division on whether to remove the turbos or just the dumps as it appears to be a 'swings and merri - go - rounds' situation. I think the issue that usually sways people is whether the turbos need attention to the point that if you have any plans at all to do them it's worth waiting to do both at the same time.
