JD I think that's most unfair. I used to think there was only one Bougainville - in PNG. Then after living in Brisbane I discovered there are two but the spelling of the QLD one is slightly different ie Boganville. I even went back to live there again and see if it had changed but no, still good old Boganville. You can take the person out of Boganville... I think you're right though re give em half a chance and they're up there like a rat up a drain pipe. That explains why QLD is so full of, er...rats, no? And we have a nice, vermin free NSW for all to enjoy. But I have to say that QLD's roads are the ducks guts / muts nuts / bees knees if you have a motorbike. Can't think of any other reason to go there. To many rats...

From what perspective Mik? If it's qual control not really, as previously stated they will pretty much make anything well under supervision. What bothers me is paying twice as much for a brand name tyre that doesn't perform as well or performs equally. My only question is how they hold up over time. Should be no difference as they wear but I've heard of cheaper compounds turning to wood over time. Still, at half the price of other stuff who cares, people are raving over the K104 and I've had Yokos go wooden too. Cheers

I don't think either standard ecu should affect the amount of black smoke the thing produces so that you can see it under accel. a visible amount of black smoke means it's running way rich, richer than a really rich standard ecu should affect richness. it's all a bit rich, if you know what i mean. what Duncan said.

gtr = money pit either way but if you want something straight and reliable with good interior 30K +. but if you are intent on doing up the motor regardless, wait until you find one that's basically good but has a spun bearing or similar and negotiate. just remember you might need money for gearboxes, clutches possibly trans case rebuild etc.

some of you skyline oweners should get the suppot of someone who knows how to spell, that way some of this would probably make more sence. but I digress... QLD sucks

Hi Richo; In that case I'll be calling them again. Manwh0re; are you sure they are the MA-Z1. i may have been mislead but bob jane also told me that the MA-Z1 doesn't come in a bigger size than 235/45/17. the make bigger tyres but not in that type. Cheers

Mate there are none currently in Australia according to Bob Jane, otherwise I'd have em on and could answer your question.

Stainless or factory exhaust manifolds, results inside.
GTR32 replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
LW; Your point is completely reasonable. The mods Scooby has planned - along the lines of what John suggested - would have to be baselined and a manifold change done. I'm not sure there's any another way to do it. Regards -

John; Champion for agreeing, well done. Cred to you. LW; Scooby also said the exact test would have to be negotiated, preferably with an independant validator like ummm...lets see.... SK! John suggested this would be something you'd do when you were changing turbos etc, which makes sense, so I don't see the problem as long as the baseline is known. Scooby said N1s and dumps etc which is a very common modification route so it should suit a lot of us. Guys; Geez, first the Magic/Catco test, now this. We are getting some serious grunt going here, now that's what I call a proper tech forum. Regards -

heh heh just (don't want to know) what boost he was running. I'm not prepared to ask about dump pipes now...ever. Anyway you guys are *****s, can never forget army time when 5 days of rat packs accumulated and then a strong coffee would suddenly see figures grasping an M16 1m off the ground and travelling 150 knots with a roll of toilet paper (known as date roll) heading for the jungle...talk about boost...made the extrude hone photos look tame. So John what about the offer from Scooby????? -
R32 GTR front brake disc size upgrade!!
GTR32 replied to Ronin 09's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yep the 8 pots on ebay are the ones I was referring to. and ditto re your comments about pad issues, I can feel the $$$ pain without having to ask further. haven't really looked into it that much because the front Brembos work just fine for a street car. still, at the price the 8 pots are available for it'd just about be worth it for a track day junkie to do a quick change to the 8 pots the night before or even trackside. -
Guys; When I press the brake pedal hard - not to the ABS point - I get a slight squeal coming from under the dash / rear of the booster, that goes as the pedal gets further down. If I tool around with the pedal enough when the car is stationary I can get the squeal to keep going. Sometimes brakes feel a little 'dead'. It's not lube on the linkages etc, sounds exactly like a vacuum leak ie high pitched fart coming from the rear of the booster. Checked vac lines and 1 way valves etc but can't find anything. Local brake guy said it's not uncommon for leaks to start appearing in some cars at the rear of the booster. Anyone experienced this? Regards

If you feel like a trip to Sydney I recommend Heasman's Steering and Suspension in Sydenham.

Blew that much black smoke I thought it was a D-tune, as in 'diesel'. He must've been an unhappy boy with whatever was going wrong, almost like his cooler hose blew off.

Guys; There are a lot of Brembo 8 pot calipers available overseas at the moment, specifically in the US, anyone checked them out re retro fit to a Skyline? Don't think they have dust boots and this might be a problem on a road car. Neal Bates ran them on an IS 200 at Targa a couple of years ago, I understand from one of his crew that while he got toasted uphill no one could catch him downhill Regards -
Hi Interloper; my thoughts exactly, not sure about the wear but I've had Yokos go hard after about 60% wear so who knows. but at about $200 per tyre it's a chance i'm prepared to take. Regards
-
ummm...under the circumstances no, i don't think it is. we're talking six hundredths of a second slower, such a small amount of time that on any other given day it might have been six hundredths faster. i think that's bugger all. sure if you're trying to shave tenths each lap it's considerable but we're talking a $200 street tyre here. if you can justify spending twice the amount for a street tyre that's .06 sec quicker then either $ don't matter, you are always able to drive at warp speed or you need to drop your card to ferrari. the victra beat most of the better known brands in a lot of areas and all of them in others such as wet braking, which i'd have to say is pretty important in terms of keeping my car and hard stuff away from each other on the street where there are no run offs. for some reason the noise test, in which the victra did very well, wasn't included in the points score. if you saw how close the overall results were you can't help but wonder why the noise result was left out of the points score. i simply reckon they're worth a try on the basis of the test results. cheers

i compared lucas pads to ds 2500 ferodo on an r32 gtr with brembos, daily driver. the lucas pads were dirtier, had worse cold retardation, bad initial bite, poorer high speed retardation and less pedal feel. i think they are crap and were a waste of money. just my 2c.

check out the maxxis victra in 235 /17 sold by bob jane. came out very well in the recent motor (wheels?) tyre test that included ost of the big name brands and tyre types, and half the price of most of them. 4th overall and there was nothing in the diferences really ie .06 sec through the slalom etc
