$5800 is absurd. call the place you bought it from and ask them why they didn't tell you that you could expect that. considering it's 10% ish of the cost of the car no one would buy a z if they knew it was gong to cost that much after such little use. dba/rda discs and ferodo ds2500 pads work well for me

it's normal and it's the thing that stops the revs from crashing everytime you change gears at traffic pace and making the thing a dog to drive.

And there's lots more where that one came from...

Bride have a different bolt pattern to Recaro so I'd pref the Recaro base frame. It does seem a crappy situation but I'm still not convinced that what Ideal Seat told me is true. I'll keep loooking.

Beware getting the local bloke to do it unless he can show you dyno figures from one he's done before for a similar car. The second hand ones you see at wreckers etc are really cheap and if it's a name brand Jap thing like HKS or Trust you can usually rest assured that it'll work OK. Custom jobs, if they're any good, will usually cost $$$

I know Hills Motorsport can do it but haven't had one done myself.

Aftermarket Gtr Ic, And 33/34 Dump Pipe Efficency
GTR32 posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Guys/Gals; Two issues here: FMIC. Has anyone got credible figures that compare the efficiency of aftermarket GTR FMIC to the stock unit ? Not talking flow, just efficency. Has anyone compared HKS v Trust v Blitz v stock and found one to be measurably (there's that word again) better. I'm reliably informed that the R33 and R34 FMIC will flow more but are no more efficent. I'm after max efficency up to about a 300rwkw flow limit. R33 vs R34 GTR dump pipes. I know the 34's are tubular etc and the 33's are cast, has anyone done any comparisons in terms of power output? Regards -

Where To Go In Sydney Area

what about for a daily driven road car that gets punted occasionally but sees no track work? not keen to wear out the inner edges too fast given the mileage i do. cheers -
coilover does not mean hard. get the damping and spring rates right, and recognise that it's always a compromise; a good road car susp set up is not going to cut it on the track and vice versa. what do you do most?

i hate dodgy mechanics but can forgive anyone for making a mistake as long as they make good 100% if he's doing anything by way of reparation you're lucky; you're getting something from him, but it also means he accepts liability. this is good for you in case there are more problems or you want to push for more. it's a no brainer but don't piss him off now or you'll get it back in peices. as for the port and polish make sure it's being done by someone good or or it'll be worse than ever. the dept of fair trading is your friend in this - they can't stand dodgy arseholes any more than i can. he should make good 100% but if you've agreed to the current arrangement then there's probably not much more that you can do. if you have further troubles don't do anything with this guy, call the fair trading people and tell them the whole story. they will manage the negotiation for you - it's worked for me in the past. at this stage however don't be disappointed, it's still a good outcome. hope things work out for you

Send Duncan a PM, he makes them. Find him as a moderator on the susp forum. There is a thread in the FS section on these also.

mick do it yourself. prep them right and just use proper wheel paint. it'll save you $$$s and they all get chipped eventually anyway. there are a couple of powdercoating places that do wheels try the yellow pages.

Thought I'd offer this to the local crowd first, it's in good shape and was on my R32 GTR. I guess it will fit any R32 but I'm not sure (might interfere with the inlet that runs over the rocker cover?) . Asking $200, give me an offer if you want. Cheers

it's almost impossible to answer that because it depends so much on the condition of the car. get a bad one and it will make you pay until you squeal, get a good one and it will cost you normal servicing only. but it's just like buying a porsche - maintaining something that will give you this much performance is never going to be cheap eg yes you can use $15 oil from Woolies but most of us use full synth $60 or so every 5000km. it adds up.

nice car but the interior is eyeball searing

Afm Problems - How Often Have You Had Them
GTR32 replied to Scooby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hi pred; yes i was warned very early about oily pods on a wrx and what they do...just lucky i guess. not sure if you are being sarcastic (feel free) re durability of electronics on skylines but they seem to have issues with igniters, coil packs and afms quite regularly unlike a lot of jap cars. as for the voltage spike harming it the afm is, as i understand it, a passive sensor ie it receives a set 12v feed for the element and there's not really a means of overloading it as it just sends a voltage sig to the ecu. it's almost inevitable that other brands have afm problems but it just seems skylines have...more...and then there's the igniters and coil packs. guys flame at will if you think differently but please make sure that whatever brand vehicle you're comparing against has had more than just 'your mates' incidence of failures. sometimes it seems like gtr electrics = xr6t diffs and gearboxes. might be time to start a 'report that e failure' thread like gtr geoff's 'report that engine failure' one. cheers -

Afm Problems - How Often Have You Had Them
GTR32 replied to Scooby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i see your point sk but my experience is that he charges what nissan charges plus freight. anyway how much money would he make by replacing perfectly good afms including .5 hr labour? $40? if he does 30/yr thats a whole $1200 before tax. i don't think they're the type of operation that sees overservicing by $40/time etc as the way to a great super fund otherwise they'd go broke. i guess he could get the more well heeled customers to pay for new afms and then recycle the used ones through the customers that couldn't afford new ones. but i just can't see that path leading to riches either... obviously i respect the experiences of yourself and others, and i am equally suspicious of aftermarket outlets, but the forums seem to provide plenty of evidence that afm failure (accounting for those that are just dirty etc) is not uncommon. for example look at Mtn Runner who jumpered the busted board and made good - the broken board theory seems to gel with what i've heard elsewhere. maybe it just seems as though skylines have more AFM problems than most but i thought i'd ask. tell you what, i'll send you the one they reckon is stuffed and you can try it on a racecar. if it doesn't leave you stranded mid race you can have it.
