  1. Babylon, one member put a stock air box back in, used a k&n panel and said that he had a power gain. The stock airbox is actually fairly good when you use a k&n panel. I still have a un-boxed Apexi Powerintake in my car, I have been meaning to get it boxed but have been too busy. Its on my to do list. I will probably buy a box from UAS and then get some flexi hose and run it from where the old stock cooler is up to the new air box. That way its 1. Hidden from prying eyes, 2. Nice and cold 3. alot neater.
  2. henzie. I have had some run in's with less than straight highway patrol police before and have a soured attitude towards many of them. However I would like you to explain to us why they are "dumb cops". You drive a modified import sports car.. If you dont like the attention from the police sell the car or return it to stock. If you have an issue with the laws then write a letter to your local member of government. There is NO use slandering the police with the attutude of a spoilt toddler. They are just enforcing the laws that our "wonderfull" government have. I am not saying that the police are 100% innocent, their is alot of dodgy cops out there but they are just exercising the laws and rights that they have been given. So calm down, dont carry on like that on a public forum as it does nothing for the image of skyline drivers and start talking to the many people that this has happened to. We all know the risks of driving a modified car, I dont wish for anyone to get defected and find the whole system to be flawed (how can a rusted out hyundai be deemed safer than my car because my car has a BOV) but cop bashing wont help... it just makes the police more harsh towards us. Good luck with getting your car defects cleared..
  3. if you run some pipe through from the front bar up the old intercooler pipe hole you should notice a small increase in power. Cold air induction is easy to do when you have a aftermarket front mount. The box makes it even better.
  4. wise choice. I have heard how you tootle down to the shops mr fuse
  5. Are you using the stock boost controller.. if you are then thats your problem. The stock boost controller is junk, mine did the same thing. My solution was a Apexi AVC-R configured on a dyno. $700 for a piggy back ecu is a joke, it wont fix your issue and is a bandaid. Get your self a powerFC for $1000 Honestly.. Step 1. Go to a decent workshop and ask them about electronic boost controllers. Their is a few brands, such as the Apexi AVC-R, Turbosmart E-Boost & the Greddy one (forgot model). Step 2. Have this installed by someone who has done it on a skyline before, that way they run it on a dyno to setup the controller correct. If you do all of this then you should not have any major issues and your car will be alot more smooth to drive. Their is alot of workshops who can help with this, no doubt everyone will come along and recomend one. I installed my AVC-R my self and had Ben at unique Autosports configure it correctly. They also do other brands.
  6. Honestly dude the brotec is awesome.. I cant believe how easily its tuned and how nice it looks. yeah I think my fuel lines are way to small, we are going to punch a hole in the bottom of the main tank and put in a squiqqle drive style pump, they are noisy as hell but should push enough. Need to use something like a garden hose to get the fuel up front too! It really makes sense to push the turbo more, I figure it must be simply more air means more cooling.. Exactly the same principal as your front mount intercooler. we have actually attached a twin thermo to the back of the intercooler too!! I think its crazy that more tuners dont push the turbo to the zone rating, thats where they reach their best performance.
  7. mmmgtir..the other day me and the boys from Brotec Engineering where playing with my Gen 2 Brotec Xforce Xtreme II ecu / BOV combo and decided to see what we could push out project datto to. Your right, at first we had some huge engine temps but then we combined a water injection system with 32.1psi of boost and where shocked at the performance. The turbos still glow red under the high power output but according to the thermocouple we have welded to the snail they are running alot cooler. We are running custom injectors however, they are 1250cc and we have to run a twin bosch pump feeling a custom surge tank which then gets feed onot a brotec special mechanical pump which sits off the alternator. (same as the gibon r32) It was amazing, I think we are good for 9's with this new setup!!!
  8. Babylon speaks the truth. It is actually even possible to get your pod filter engineered, however its a pain in the neck. I would honestly just throw on a stock air box, take it back and get it cleared. Then once its okay put your filter back on and make or buy a nice airbox for it. the airbox makes sense anyway, otherwise your car is just sucking hot air into the turbo..
  9. would.. the ECU should have a series of decent sized capacitors to filter power into its memory.. Leave the battery off for 10 seconds, pump the brake pedal a few times and you should be right. If you have been driving the car in australia for more than a few weeks then this whole exercise would probably be pointless as the car would have adjusted to aussie conditions.
  10. To answer the question. The stock ECU is a learning ECU. It will adapt to certain conditions (such as fuel types, sensor performance etc etc). An example of how this works is my stock Air Flow meter started to die on me, but the stock ecu some how compensated for it. When I put the powerFC in the AFM had to be replaced. When you reset the ECU your car will start the learning process again. Its worth doing on a car thats just been imported as the fuel is different in australia. I would also leave the car with no battery attached for more than a few seconds.. count to 30 in french then re-connect the battery.
  11. who is daf vdr.. is that a rap artist?
  12. Im near dee why.. I live near an industrial area actually, et me know when your gonna go testing so I can pull up a chair and count the highway patrol cars that rock up.. hehe.. Its amazing how fast they rock up.. I go bed in my brakes then hide the car before the rock up and thats just a few 80 to 0 stops.
  13. Dude.. fantastic buy.. Looks awesome!!!! we are all jealous!
  14. Whilst I wish car theives should be first against the wall when the revolution comes, I dont think your use of poor language is suitable for these forums. Remember they are public forums, last thing we need is Ray Martin stumbling across them.
  15. I missed out on this as my clutch is failing.. if its sorted by the 17th I will be there.. doubtfull tho.. Need to sort out a few more bugs.
  16. I was thinking what happens when you roll.. Until "you" rolled.
  17. Also there is different types of exhaust notes. Some drone and its very obvious and loud (also rattles windows) others are not as noticable. 95 is quite loud though. To answer peoples questions, they can tell the db on the exhaust because its tested in advance. However those numbers are based on a stock car, so if you have aftermarket turbo etc etc the noise will go up! If your after a legal exhaust, never buy one on numbers. Go to a shop and get one custom made.
  18. So what... how many pac cars do you see with numberplates on them. The RTA do not test a cars emissions in order to pass registration. If you tell the court that it was registered they wont care. Focus on those other points you had. Those are good. Spend some time on austlii looking up the various laws and get familiar with them.
  19. LOL this will end in tears! if you want it legal.. dont change a thing. Even an engineers report will not stop you copping issues from the police. You can try the obvious things first.. A. 10psi B. Front Mount Intercooler C. Full Exhaust D. Aftermarket ECU E. DRIVER TRAINING! I dont know where you plan on racing your mate, if its at the track then you should get some training as its worth alot more than mods when it comes to a cars speed.
  20. perhaps its worth a try.. I suppose also these events where started because a few of us north siders would meet up now and then. Overnight they became an official SAU event. hehe
  21. Good question NewTattoo... is there parking close by? Kel.. I was attacked about 2 years ago for never doing events out of the northern beaches.. I organised one, and the only people to rock up where the northsiders.. So it blew that argument out of the water.
  22. i thought great northern was a pub. Didnt realise they do food..
