  1. Ummm, maybe you're not over it? I agree I'm overweight but dodgy I take offence to. I'm sure we'll catch up at some SAU event but given my level of fitness and the fact that I'm out of my prime would prefer to catch up over a beer for the chat.
  2. If its not worth the asking price then you wouldn't have been interested in the first place. What someone initially pays for a car has no relevance to the sale price - a good analogy would be a real estate. Try and buy a stock R then add my mods and you will be looking at close to the $60K mark. In any event there were alot more $ spent from my time of purchase, including an engine rebuild which you were advised of. From speaking with your 'mates', this isn't the first time you've come out with all guns blazing then move onto the next car of your dreams - thats what annoyed me, the fact that history shows you are a tyre kicker with no proof of your assumptions. By all accounts its probably a blessing in disguise that the "car wasn't for you" as its been suggested that with you at the wheel we could have been looking at another mines_datsun. I've got nothing against you or your father Sam, it pays to be prudent when buying anything of value, just in your next dealings can I suggest you be upfront and honest rathing than squirming away with poor excuses. I'm over it, and as you don't give a "flying fark", I assume you are too. Hope to see you in a stock R soon.
  3. No excuse mate, I did a number on myself Sat night but still managed to make it to Winton around lunch. Definately still worth the $20 and to rub it in there wasn't a drop of rain in sight.
  4. Thanks for the vote of confidence Snowman , after Sam's suggestions I've had trouble sleeping at night, lol. Ben at Racepace has checked my car thoroughly and I can confirm i'm not rolling around with half of someone elses car stitched on. Like you I have some previous damage, mine is in the rear left quarter but the repair is more than satisfactory. Heath, if you can stretch your budget it would be worth having a look at Mesh's car. It a genuine sale, he is moving on to an r34 gtr. From what I can gather he spent some time hunting down a "good one" and there hasn't been an expense spared.
  5. Yes Sam, you know your stuff, must be from all the years of experience in the trade. Your ability to pick a cut and shut without even looking under a car is out of this world. I'll just keep crab-walking down the street, but hey at least i'm on the road and its not just a dream. Don't worry, daddy will buy you a nice car soon.
  6. Your ability to pick structural damage is simply amazing. Did you have a look at the underside of this car to confirm your first impressions? Next time i'm looking at buying a car do you mind if I use your services as you obviously know your shite. btw where is the gtr you list in your profile?
  7. Alright, looks like the mrs isn't getting a night away in Benalla. From my joint its quicker to go the Yea - Seymour route so I'll just meet you guys there.
  8. Pics sent. meshybum i've pm'd you my number. Scotsman they are not compatible with the EDFC.
  9. Well I was thinking of bringing the cook to keep her happy. Maybe you could do the same and they can bake cakes while we're running around the track?
  10. All this chat is getting me excited. Given the distance, is anyone keen to go up Sat arvo, stay in a seedy motel in Benalla and drink some piss Sat night?
  11. Na, sorry mate, i've got the ugly duckling / whale (33). Thanks for the offer but I don't like driving other peoples cars, something always seems to wrong when i'm at the friggin wheel! Going by what i've read so far fine tuning suspension etc isn't gong to be to much of an issue - its more a 8/10 's fun day isn't it?
  12. The karts would be the night snowman was driving 7/10 so he could play mid pack with his work mates , while the landcruiser episode prob gives me the title of Mr Wally.
  13. hahaha - you got me mate, they are still bolted firmly to the standard donk, but 300 at all fours is a bit over the top - I still have to get to work. Good news with your box btw.
  14. Don't listen to Snowman, the car has a stock donk, its not 300awkw but yeah i've now got semis, prob be half farked by the time I get to winton though. As i said in another thread i'm keen to check out this bus of yours, i'm only new to the r, came out of an early commo with decent power at the rears and some good stoppers so can appreciate the power on oversteer. The fellas in Albury were whom i was referring to earlier.
  15. So you think its a case of the pot calling the kettle black Haven't been around Winton so this is probably a good chance, i 'll get of my lazy butt and come and have some fun.
  16. Anyone done one of these "fun" days before? How many cars on the track at once? Bit worried about Wally in his clubsport or slr torana, no track experience, going hammer and tong and taking cars out. Is this a concern?
  17. Does anyone know the exact size of each throttle body on an rb26? I would have thought that despite the butterfly restriction the cross sectional volume of the six throttle bodies would be greater than the entry to the plenum anyway? The Mines gtr doesn't appear to be too restricted with the individual throttle bodies nor does the M3.
  18. I've tried to send you some pics but they have bounced on your hotmail address even at 850kb.
  19. Thanks SK - as always a thorough explanation. So the pipercross is foam, using similar principals to the two stage foam filters used on trailbikes etc Looks like i'll be recharging the K&N quite frequently then - if its starts to disintergrate i've always got that 1,000,000 km warranty! lol. - Do you think that the BelRay oil as used in trailbikes would do the trick when i recharge or stick with the K&N Oil? I have a large bottle of the BelRay on the shelf.
  20. Hi Sk, I like the K&N product. Whats with these Pipercross Filters that gets you so warm inside? Do you think that the oil used on the k&n filter stuffs the afm? I'm interested to know if you've seen any back to back comparisons with a lightly oiled k&n vs paper element with respect to the amount of air they can flow?
  21. I cant stand that poof in his poxy wide body mr2. This whole series of vids has way to much non car related crap used to fill the 1.5 hours of viewing. The serious performance collection are much better IMO but if High Octane has improved i'd like to know also.
  22. Mate it shouldn't be 3.5k next year as your rating will drop if you don't make a claim. As they are not taking your previous driving history into account I'm assuming that quote is based on rating 6 so next year with rating 5 you will receive 20% off - $2,800. After this first reduction each rating reduces your premium by 10%. You may have saved some bucks by insuring under your fathers name in the past but as you are finding out you have to build a rating at some stage. Probably would have been easier and cheaper on your previous car but no-one thinks that at the time. If you want the car you will have to bite the bullet but listen to 666dan's advice. Enjoy the R and good luck.
  23. Anyone after some cheap coilovers. I advertised these after I bought some Ohlins on these forums 6 months ago as I thought the Ohlins would be the ducks guts. I fitted them and found they were stuffed so put the Teins back in and have been using them ever since. Just got my Ohlins back from being reconditioned so no need for the Teins any more. They bare scratches from general road use but work fine. If anyone in Melb is keen I'm happy to take you for a test drive. I can also email pics from when they were out.
  24. I will be checking your car out with great interest when it hits the track. For ME i need a road / track car and the gtr fits the bill nicely. I'm a bit of a tightarse with my cash so i want to recover most of my outlay when the time arises to sell. As SK has pointed out the ongoing cost of running the gtr are not cheap, i just bought a set of pagid blues and didn't get much change of $750. I think they'll last more than 1 track day though.
  25. Going by your comparison to GTP times you can obviously steer. 1:25's in an rb20 powered r32 would be great but as you know its not all about outright power. There is a bloke whom has a stock turboed SR20 (around 160rwkw) in his S15 that runs that sort of time so you are on the money if your car is set up as his is. IMO a mildly modded R is running a stock internal rb26, upgraded low mounts, aftermarket ecu, exhaust, coilovers and semi comp rubber. This should be good for sub 1:25's. With an r32 import this could be done on a budget of less than 30k. So its an rb26/30 you're going for since the rb20 has given up the ghost?
