  1. Potential buyers beware, this Matt poofter is as dodgy as they come. Do not trust under any circumstance.
  2. no worries ant, see how you go, its not listed anywhere for sale just part of an unwanted collection of bits I've acquired
  3. Hi Ant, If it is the tacho I've got a Nismo replacement lying around if you are interested $200. You'll obviously lose the standard boost guage but i presume you were running more than .7 bar anyway.
  4. dnb you're not the only one whos pm's he's ignoring, yet he gets pissed when you publically post about his inability to complete a transaction, sounds like you're not out of pocket, i'd recommend you keep it that way. call me childish mat for having to go this way but bottom line is pay your debts and keep your promises and you will earn respect not shame.
  5. for fu*k sake Mat (FR33ZE) when are you depositing the $ into my a/c. dnb you're not the only one whos pm's he's ignoring, yet he gets pissed when you publically post about his inability to complete a transaction, sounds like you're not out of pocket, i'd recommend you keep it that way.
  6. watch your mouth mat, you're treading on thin ice.
  7. Hey Mat, b4 you start buying computer games why don't you fix up your debts as promised 3 weeks ago.
  8. i think an r33 gtr vspec is around 1560kg dry, so add fuel @ 50kg, my overweight butt @ 85kg and other fluids it'd be over 1700kg's. No wonder the brakes don't last long!
  9. the gtr with same power mate! But yeah to keep some interest a case of crownies sounds good, I'm sure you'll be able to explain your newfound fear of the R to me over a decent dribbling session.
  10. lol - sorry mate, Roy vs Roy doesn't attract 2:1 let alone even money! The bet was with respect to the gtr vs gtst lap time debate (as the title of this thread suggests). You're making the same power as the gtr in question and you're 1/4 tonne better off. You're not back pedalling are you? Great to hear your cars on the mend though, good luck, I hope you reach your goal.
  11. Just reread your post. If your mechanic hasn't paid for it and you have no joy after say a week i'd rip it out and dump it on their doorstep.
  12. Hi Andrew, friggin gtr boxes! For what its worth a mate has an aussie delivered S15 that suffered box probs after 2 years (pretty common with the 6 speed in the S15). Car was still under warranty so went to Blackburn Nissan and they fitted a complete new box, get this, they suggested he supply a heavy duty after market clutch for them to fit while the box was out. Doesn't quite fit Ferntree gully's story that fitment of an aftermarket clutch will void warranty... 2nd story a mate has a 5speed getrag in a 5L commo that was purchased brand new. From day 1 the input shaft bearing has been noisy. Hes given it a hard time for 3 years and it hasn't failed but its bloody noisy. I've heard from several people that getting a quiet getrag is a bit of pot luck. Don't frig around with Ferntree Gully, go straight to head office. Good luck mate.
  13. but can the caliper clamping down on a smaller diameter rotor reach the traction threshold as early? In my previous car I went from 270mm rotors to 330mm rotors and even on the first application the stopping distance was greatly reduced.
  14. Scotsman has 220odd rwkw's. Let me know if your car makes the 230rwkw so I can book a nice seafood restaurant to spend the $100 - lol. with respect to the brake thing haven't you already answered your own question with the revolving door analogy?
  15. I'm a realist, not a theorist. $100 on the R and i'll give 2:1 odds.
  16. SAU Nickname: benjiman74 Car Make and Model: r33 gtr vspec Circuit Name: Sandown Lap time: 1.23.3 Modifications Engine: 2530's, pfc Power: 310rwkw Suspension: Ohlins Tyres: re55s Brakes: standard Body weight: standard
  17. Andrew, I also feel your pain. I've got Series 3 internals after mine munched 3rd but i believe the gearset is the same strength, the series 3 got bigger synchros and hubs. If you intend to increase your power output and visit the drags you may want to bite the bullet now and go the OS gear set, as meshmesh said a couple of second hand boxes later and you've outlayed the same anyway. The OS set is fitted to bens car after he lunched 3 Trust dog boxes and he hasn't had a drama at power levels around 500rwkw. The added bonus is that they are still a heli cut gearset so street use is not compromised. Good luck.
  18. I agree for headroom its a good idea, just trying to kill the misconception that better fuel on its own = more power.
  19. I didn't think fuel itself will add any more power, rather with better fuel you can run more advanced timing, compression etc. without encountering detonation. Its the raising of the detonation threshold, which allows more aggressive timing / boost etc that will give the extra hp. ie: If your car is tuned to run on pulp and you add a tankful of av or any other fancy brew you will not see an increase in power without altering your tune.
  20. Black smoke is usually an indication that an engine is running rich.
  21. Hi Ash, I think you will find that he will run her up on the dyno for initial break in and tune then advise you to come back after around 500 km's. In my experience he also knocked out a few degrees of total advance during the break in period.
  22. Well done guys, looks like you had a great weekend and were very competitive. You gotta hate mechanical dramas, remember to fill us in once you know exactly what caused the problem. I note that Golgos times weren't counted but how did it go against the competition?
  23. I think you will find that it is the crank, and crank only that affects stroke. Pistons suited to stroker cranks will measure less form gudgeon pin to crown to avoid making contact with the head / valves and meeting the desired level of compression. If you have a standard crank and you increase the rod length by say 2mm, the piston will travel 2mm higher at tdc (and would require either a sandwhcih plate or very thick head gasket) but remember it wll also be 2mm higher at bdc. Using your volumetric equation the capacity will remain unchanged. It appears with the kit you have purchased that your gain in capacity is due to the O/S pistons only.
  24. gtr only mate, the rear lower mounting brackets are different.
  25. Plugs causing the missfire at idle / stalling probs and too much timing the detonation?
