  1. But Holden plonked their forced induction on a 1960's pushrod buick v6! Ford have at least utilised overhead cams / 4 valve technology, an intercooler and their turbo allows plenty of headroom for more power.
  2. Ronin 9, hasn't your car got approx 100k on it? Prob garaged all its life being a one owner. What second hand r32 rubbers are going to be much fresher? U might have to bite the bullet and go new if you want to cure the problem.

Using pi r2 i've calculated the flow potential or cross sectional volume of some common exhaust piping: 2.5 inch = 31.67cm2 3 inch = 45.603cm2 3.5 inch = 62.141cm2 4 inch = 81.072cm2 From this you can see 2 x 2.5 inch pipes or with reference to this thread "cats" could only flow the same as a single 3.5 equivalent. The reason manufacturers would use twin systems is due to clearance problems associated with a bigger single pipe. With respect to the ferraris not losing power with the cats removed you must remember they are na and unlike turbocharged engines would benefit from some backpressure. I reckon if you are going to run a cat, get the biggest you can get your hands on.

  8. Yeah, dont go to the 5 speed you'll have the added hassle of changing the diff ratio etc. I'm told holden now have a 6 speed getrag that is going behind the new quad cam v6. I dont know if the parts are interchangable with the r34 box but it may be worth looking into along with the bmw getrag's you mentioned earlier.
  9. Sorry I misunderstood, buy a modded gtst and sell the mods, then put a gtr top end on a 3.0 litre. Might have been easier for you to buy the gtr and remove the front drive shaft if you want that gtr engineering without the added traction. While you were adding that gtr wing did you add other gtr access too such as seats and brembos? The thread started out comparing gtr's to big dollar euros - funny you dont see any gtst's being compared to these performance cars. You can haha all you like i'm to busy rolling aroud in stitches to get a haha out.

So the moral to your story is buy a modded gtst for over $30k, make it look like a gtr, go to the expense of adding a gtr head and you have a car that would be marginally quicker in a straight line than a lightly modded gtr. But hey after spending your $40k+ you'll have buyers lined up when it comes time to resell. Maybe you could add a front diff and attessa to your shopping list and you'll have a gtr buster.

  14. My opinions:- i) replace the element in the standard air box rather than worry about he apexi air filters and the hassle of fabricating a CAI box. ii) I think you can delete the Z32 Air flow meters from stage 1 as the standard units will have plenty of resolution for that level of mods.
  15. For fitment to an rb25 you will need a 2530 with a t3 flange not t25 like gtr or sr20.

  17. I'm not totally sure as i wasn't there all day, if snowman's had a very short haircut then i was there for about an hour after he left. Speaking to people that had been their since the early morn no rex's did over 200. It was Vinny's personal car (black sti) that i saw run 196 after he had the luxury of playing with the timing - then reset it to a safe level b4 leaving the dyno. Vinny told me there was a tough GT (XW or XY) that ran 225 odd in the morn.
  18. meshmesh - with your 2530's you would stick it up them now, highest reading i saw a rex produce on the day was 196rwkw and that was after cranking in an unsafe amount of timing.
  19. rather than reinvent the wheel a standard rb26 with low mount turbo upgrade should come in around budget and produce 300rwkw.

  21. Anyone seen that djr falcon in the latest unique cars - what a pile of snot! They couldn't extract much more than 320 flywheel kw's because of that ford computer hitting rev limiter at just 6,000 rpm. How can they justify $90,000+ with a brake upgrade, ugly leather interior and that fake bonnet scoop?
